Dvne - Etemen Ænka
A Scottish band with a big future before them, I believe the name is pronounced "Dune"

I might be in a position to spend a bit of money on a bass later this year, what's the going rate for a used NS5-XL these days?

Love the Ataxia albums.
Frusciante’s solo/colab stuff is massively better than RHCP…
I've only just discovered Ataxia, really like it - just the sort of thing I'm digging at the moment
-
Today has been:
Touché Amoré - Stage Four
Ataxia - Automatic Writing
The Mars Volta - Deloused In The Comatorium
-
The new Cannibal Corpse, which is far better than I was expecting
-
Tool - Fear Inoculum

Not exactly hidden but incredible bass in metal.
For instrumental metal I would also high recommend Nuclear Power Trio, and also Polyphia.
Chon & Witherfall also have the mighty Anthony Crawford on bass absolutely blowing my socks off.
That Job For A Cowboy is stunning,.I wrote them off as a MySpace deathcore band before stumbling across this a couple of years ago, sadly I think it was their last record.
Conquering Dystopia is another great instrumental metal band, with Alex Webster on bass

There's bass in metal ?!?
Yes

So far today, the new efforts from Zao - The Crimson Corridor and The Armed - Ultrapop
-
I normally go on my own, as it means I can set my own schedule - arrive early to catch the first band? Fine, wait until the kids are asleep before leaving and only see the headliner? Also fine. Band kinda sucks and I want to leave early? Just go.
That all being said, I've just bought tickets for Every Time I Die and The Bronx in January for me and a mate from work

I really like what I’ve heard of Pupil Slicer so far. Hopefully when the gigs get started again, we’ll see their real potential.
Yeah, I'd really like to see them live, I think Mirrors is probably my album of the year so far

Dream thester Wembley arena . Supported by symphony x who were much better. One of the best support bands I've seen .
Dream theatre seemed tired and going through the motions
I was at that show, DT were a bit meh, LaBrie seemed completely disinterested

I have never been disappointed to see Maiden.
About two years ago I went to see Testament at Koko in Camden. Annihilator and some other band were opening for them.
I was a bit disappointed with Testament, the bass player had some technical issues and was making it obvious. Well at least I noticed.
But Annihilator was just amazing , so underrated and Jeff Waters is one of the most committed musicians. I used to listen to them in my early teens then somehow I have forgotten about them. The bass player is awesome, his playing and stage presentation combined is something other players lack. Think he is from Cambridge.
I was slightly disappointed (not really) with Steve Vai when he blew his amp during a gig🤟 to this day I'm not sure if it was part of the show as I never bothered googling it.
You might enjoy this podcast, as the guest Luke booked that Testament show and his story about how his financed it is worth a listen alone 😁

If I need to put myself in the right frame of mind for a meeting or similar at work, I usually reach for one of these three
They gee me up into, normally, a better mood

The debut album from London grindcore/mathcore band Pupil Slicer which came out today, great stuff
-
I'd put Gallows in the Hardcore category myself, which in itself is quite broad and crosses over with both punk and metal at various points.
-
I think @Monkey Steve did this or a similar tuning in a fiver for a gig
-
Mrs fosters. - Self-surgery
Chelsea Wolfe and drummer Jess Gowrie playing some very 90s inspired work, genre is a bit vague but it's very good
The album art is NSFW mind

Edit: Enjoying the swear filter here, lol
