1. Added pics of my new and only bass
2. Great contributions so far. Keep an eye out on the first post, i'll edit it and add a pic hopefully when my bass arrives!
3. Thankfully the person I sold my bass to said it arrived ok, I used TNT which I have used about 4 or 5 times before except they were guitars. Everything has arrived great so far. I just hate paying such expensive insurance charges every time!
4.
That is just so cool! I dont think Im cool enough to play it you know, Is there a test or something when you buy it?
Funny you should say that, I've always thought sunburst thunderbirds ooze cool too!
5. So I can't really find a thread about this, I'm very curious to see peoples number 1 bass. You know, only save 1 from a burning building type. Pics preferably. At the moment I don't have any bass! But when I get the one I just ordered I'll post. Let's see em! Edit: It's a first year 1982 Fullerton 57 reissue P bass. They are basically custom shop quality. This one weighs 6.2lbs.
6. This is what I do, never failed me and requires absolutely no mods.
7. Think these are UK made, not bad really. Good luck with the sale.
8. If you get the chance, go to a music shop. Heck, perhaps you might decide on which bass you like all together! Necks are a pretty big deal to me so you could try a few there too.
9. Sold a Stingray to Grahame, paid straight away. Would definately reccomend!
10.
We're only having a giraffe man. We're all MM-o-philes here... well the ones with good taste at least are.
I actually just sold my stingray, they are IMO amazing in every way .
11. Hi guys, to follow up - I ordered the rip off insurance. If anything happened, it's too big of a risk for a loss I can afford (i'd essentially be bassless! ). At least I'll have a better peice of mind now. I saved the live chat log where a support representative clearly states I'm covered for all damage up to £100 loss of item £1000. It's fairly well packed so I doubt I'll get any damage, unless they drive a forklift truck over it! Cheers.
12. To be honest, I think I might get it covered in the morning. I'd be broke and basses if anything happens. Thanks all.
13.
Hope you didn't go for the matching headstock.
20 page thread #2 incoming!
14. I need to decide what to do before tomorrow, it's driving me crazy! Thanks for the help so far guys.
15.
U +1
If this is the case then, do most people here just send uninsured?
16. So I just sold a bass on here, didn't get insurance cover for £30 on top of £10 I paid... now I'm paranoid TNT might lose my parcel. Just wondering what other people do. I need to know before tomorrow though as that's collection day, I still can cover it. Cheers.
17.
There's (or was?) a lovely US made Ampeg B100R in the marketplace which I would snap up if I didn't already have a B50R. £200 - US made, valve preamp, 15" driver, ported. Lovely thing - even loud enough to play with a drummer. I often use the one at a studio we use. They sound great at low volume too. A future classic. Great / flexible EQ and changing the valve in the pre has quite a profound effect the tone. If you're set on a '51, the MIJ ones are the ones I reckon, rather than the Squiers.
Good suggestion for an amp, they can be found regularly, cheaply and they are decent! Not sure they can get a MiJ 51 too though. I'd get a squier 51 and change the pickup on it for the budget.
18. People really do job lots of instruments? Guess I've learnt something today
