1. The gig that made me get my own rig was a borrowed 50W Crate combo. It was SO underpowered! The gig also suffered as it was a party (for someone I didn't know) and most people were content to hang out in the toilet and do charlie all night. Then night bus home! I also played a gig in Brixton through a 25W FENDER (guitar) amp slaved through some other small guitar amp. Fun? Not really! Can't wait to gig my new Roland DB500 (150W) to see if it's the lowest I can gig with happily.
2. Bump for a buyer M.I.A and a rig still for sale. Please buy this and let me get my own double bass!
3. I'm not sure about keys, but these guys seem to have everything else, if you need to be in SE London. My band were going to check them out but they're pretty pricey for SE London.
4. Hello, Just bought a DB500 and it's great. Sounds much louder than its 150W, easily gets over the top of our loud drummer. Tone is great (I use electric and double bass) and the programs mean you can switch easily between 2 or 3 sounds. I was worried it wouldn't cope with gigs but I'm not any more!
5. Bump, Cab still available. It's really good, despit the hole!
6. Hi, Im in King and Country (formerly Capelilos). We're kind of indie/ska/pop/rockish. Doing lots of accoustic gigs and I've picked up the double bass again. It's big!! [topic="0"]here's our myspace[/topic] The accoustic thing is called frogmonkey. True! [topic="0"]Check it out here[/topic] Adrian
7. Hi StagediveNewport, Dimensions: W 19 inches; H 2 Rack Spaces; D 11.81 inches Weight: 22 lbs I can box it up but if you want to collect I can take a deposit and you can save some cash! Let me know as I have a message from another party. Adrian
8. Bought Pete's Roland DB500 combo off him. He went out of his way to help ship it to me and did a very nice deal. Prompt and accurate communication and when the amp arrived it was packaged beautifully with no transit worries. All up, thanks fella!! Adrian PS The amp sounds great with double bass, giving it an electric workout tonight!
9. Bump for a Price Drop
10. I've got a 97 model back home in Oz. If it's got the same pickup/preamp it's fantastic. Cut or boost bass, mids and treble independantly and control volume of either pickup. Have a BUMP on me!
11. Hi all, Due to my band playing loads of acoustic gigs and me playing a borrowed double bass, I'm downsizing my rig to allow the purchase of my own double bass. Warick Pro Fet 3.2 This is a 300W into 4 ohm solid state head. Adjustable and switchable compressor. Switches for deep and bright. Rotary controls for bass, low-mid, hi-mid, treble. Variable contour control. Phones jack, DI out (switchable pre/post). Mute switch (non remote) Rear panel: groundlift switch, tuner out, line out (post master), effects loop. Speaker out: 1 XLR, 1 Speakon Weight: 25.3 lbs. / 11.5 kg Depth: 14.76 in. / 375 mm It has a very warm sound (one engineer mistook it for "a high-end piece of valve kit"!) that is very adaptable via the tone shaping controls. It's been back to the factory once due to cutting out but was fixed under warranty and hasn't missed a beat since (over a year ago). Has been gigged and has very minor scratches. Sold pending payment. EBS Proline 2000 15" 400W 4 0hm cab The cab has a 15" driver with an adjustable horn. It is quite compact for a 15 but not that light!Frequency Response 50 - 18k Hz Sensitivity 103 dB Power Rating 400 W RMS Impedance 4 ohms - you'll get all of the 300W from the head. Volume 84 liters Height 51 cm / 20" Width 58 cm / 23" Depth 44 cm / 17" Weight 28 kg / 62 lbs The driver has a hole that was caused by a hi-hat stand slipping through the grill and puncturing the cone. It's less than 1cm accross and 0.5 cm wide. I've sought professional advice and it's very easy to fix but it hasn't altered the sound so I haven't repaired it. I'll include the patches and glue for anyone that wants it. Apart from the hole(!) the cab is in great nick. Sold .
12. Has this gone, then?
13. Anyone on here ever fit a 3/4 double bass into a 406 sedan? I tried the other day but neglected to attempt to get it in the front passenger seat. If I could, it would go a long way to fuel my desire to get one!
14. Where are you based? I'm thinking this might be a solution for me.
15. Hello, I've got an EBS Proline 2000. It's a 15" but it is 4 ohms. I love the sound, though. Adrian Woops, didn't read that you're looking for 2x10. Sorry!!
16. Cheers, maybe just GAS, hankering after a new lightwight speaker!
17. Just wondering really. My EBS 2000 (15" with tweeter) has a small tear in the speaker cone. Easy enough to repair, I'm assured, but I got to wondering after reading lots of cabinet build diaries. Would it be better to just replace the speaker with a totally new one? I was thinking along the lines of a 4 ohm neo around 400 watts (the current speaker is 400 watts, 4ohms). I was totally happy with the stock sound before the tear (damned hihat stand), but now I've convinced myself there's a slight 'woofy' sound to it. How easy/difficult would it be and what would driver would suit? Any suggestions welcome.
18.
Can anyone comment on the tone of the Profets? I'd imagine this is the deciding factor, right?
I love the tone, it's warm and clear. The tone changing capabilities are quite standard; low, low-mid, high-mid and high knobs. There are also deep and bright switches that boost both those ranges. I use a jazz bass for indie/rock/ and generally keep the eq flat, only adjusting for the room but the amp sounds good with the limited effects I've used (overdrive, synth and octave). When I was recording through this and the amp died, I replaced it with an Ashdown Mag 300 that was in the studio. It just didn't sound as good to my ears and I asked the engineer why not. His reply was that my amp was a boutique piece of valve kit and the Ashdown a cheap imitation! That was validation enough for me on the tone of the amp!
19.
Have you seen this from their shop, a 12 string semi bass.....? http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-PROFESSIONAL-TWELV...1742.m153.l1262
Unfortunately it's a 'simi' hollow body, but for all those who are fed up with the amateur 12 string basses out there, it's unmissable!!
20. I use a Profet 3.2 through an EBS 15" which is 4 ohms, so I get the full 300 watts. It's got plenty of volume and sounds great and is really quiet (apart from my single coil hum!) and is just about perfect for the price. The 'just about' bit is only let down by the fact that I've had two problems with it so far. One was fixed under warranty and the other will be, when I can send it back. The first was a very strange pulsing click sound that eventually killed the amp, until it was repaired. As it was bought from Thomann, and shipped back to Germany for repair, I never found out exactly what it was. The second problem is a dodgy input jack that is intermittent and seems to have gone away but I don't trust it. To sum up, if it had been problem free, I would 100% recommend it. As it is, I still recommend it, just with the reliability factor detracting a bit!
21. I'd love this to sit onstage, next to my rig. Not to use, of course . . . http://cgi.ebay.com/NEW-WIDE-NECK-ONE-NECK...1QQcmdZViewItem
22. I've got a (Made in Korea) Squier Jazz. I really wanted to replace the pickups until I recorded it and was talking to the engineer. I told him of my plans and he said, "Why? It sounds fine." Which it does, and now I dont have pickup GAS! I just want a new amp! It could do with a setup, though.
