  1. My final clearout bass bargain..i have more basses than the ability to store them so its murder your darlings time..

The kiloton is a great musicman 'zone' type bass yet passive.  The MFD pickup range is as hot as they get and this is no exception.  Beautiful trans 'root beer' finish over mahogany.  Smaller body shape (same as the SB-2) makes this good on the shoulders.

I fitted a hipshot and the dropped D rings lovely on this.

4kg on the trusty bathroom scales, mahogany body.

I have a thing for carbon fibre wrap on scratch  plates  and this is no exception, underneath is a tort plate, but I have added black carbon fibre which looks tasteful imho.

No heavy dings or scratches, some very light signs of wear but nothing to cause any concern

Happy to post at buyers expense, will always ship insured.  Happy also to meet up within reason in Kent or M25 with some consideration towards petrol and coffee.

  2. My bass clearout continues.. Squier contemporary Jazz bass. Active humbucker pickups, Bass/treble boost. Bought it from someone who had in turn bought it as damaged in transit. There was a dent on the top bout, and a binding tuner, which worked but wasnt great. I have replaced all the tuners, and the bridge for a hi mass fender unit and repaired the dent on the back. New d'addario strings, and full set up. Blue vinyl wrap on the black scratchplate (can be easily removed) Plays great and has a really punchy sound.

Body is ASH so heavier than some but very distinctive bass all in all.

Happy to post in UK at buyer expense of meet up in Kent or m25 for some consideration w/r to petrol costs.

  3. SIRE V7 nice sunburst trans finish over ash i think, maple neck, white pearloid block markers. Condition is v good, there are some scuff marks on the body, but nothing ugly or even that noticable to be fair. I modified a FENDER hi-Mass bridge for through body stringing (you cant buy them like that as far as i know) String spacing is bang on. Brand new set of d'addario strings. I have carbon fibre wrapped the (ivory marble) scratchplate. Easily removable if needed. The controls in these are normally cheap plastic affairs. Replaced with chrome metal ones. Comes with the industry renowned 18v pre amp. Full set up done and she plays and sounds great. The hi mass has edged sound to be a little warmer to my ear, but either way great sounding and playing bass. Happy to meet up within reason in the Kent area or M25 for petrol money. Or happy to ship (uk only) at buyers expense.

Might consider trades as we are all cash strapped these days.

£120?  Bloody bargain - well done!

I'd put up with the bridge pickup being there for £120...

Yeah it was unloved a little, needed a lot of set up work and a new scratchplate (the old one was warped) but it is a wonderful thing...my go to live bass over a couple of Stingrays....

  5. I made a scratchplate for My SB-2, got the bass unloved for only £120, best buy of my life!.

Now also own a tribby Kiloton (same body as the SB-2) and a JB.  JB is waaaaaaaay heavier than the other two.     MFD pickups ...DAMMMMN.  as with most of us on here i have other basses and coming back to the sb-2 is startling every time.  Love 'em.

  6. Squier Affinity P bass early production model.  Probably around 20 years old.

    Good.

Dimarzio dp122 pickups (great p bass pickups, one of the best imho)

    Fender hi mass bridge.

    Black anodised aluminium scratchplate

    Strung with Flat wounds,

Newer larger pole machineheads (the originals were...lets say 'budget')

Truss rod is free and works fine

Rosewood board (i am guessing by the age its not laurel or some other brown wood) in great condition with level and meaty frets

    Not so good.

    Chipped and scratched.

Its a good bass, plays great sounds great stays in tune and is the classic p bass with flats config.  Looks good and has a presence about it that old basses seem to have.

Kent based, happy to meet up around M25 for coffee/petrol money, or ship at buyers expense, or come round...we have biscuits.

  7. Figured Ash body

    5pc panga-panga / walnut neck

    Hipshot® Ultralite tuners.

    Bartolini MK-1 pickups

    MarkBass-1 Pre-amp, passive /active switching

Great weight in as new condition.   I lightly wire wooled and bees' waxed the neck, improving the already excellent playability.  Build quality and materials is very good.

Recently restrung with Fender Nickels unmarked, effectively as new and a chunk of cash off a new one.

Will consider trades at a push, cash preferred.

Delivery at buyer expense, using UPS insured
