This is a great bass. The colour is called 'rootbeer'. The MFD series of pickups is a Fender designed masterpiece. These tribute series basses are great value for money. G & L need more love than they get. Buy with confidence that you will get a great instrument

As a way too ebay influenced (as in i really shouldnt have bought this many but ebay helped..a lot ) buyer/seller/collector/playerI have owned a LOT of basses (possibly over 200). And i have a few sellers regrets in my 45 years of bassist shenanigans.
So occasionally i land up re-purchasing basses previously sold..
But there are a few that I just dont see ever come up for sale...rarity or just held onto by happy owners..who knows?
Yamaha series 1 TRB 'slapcut'. Awesome basses, Japanese build quality. I had the rare Jazz pickup layout version. Owned it for 14 years and rather dumbly (is that a word?) sold it. Never seen that model since. Dammit.
Any of the x series of the budget Yamaha BB's. I have owned 4 and 5 string versions, managed to snag a 424x but you hardly see them for sale, they are brilliant.
Washburn Force 42. Headless 80s bass. Never seen one for sale since the 80s
As a collector i'd likely buy any of the above without even planning to gig them (although i do take the 424x out for the odd gig or two see below..)
Any basses you hanker after yet never see on the for sale board?

Hi there. Where did you get the vinyl to cover the scratchplate and any tips on doing a neat job?
Ebay. Carbon wrap comes in all sort of colours. This one is forged carbon. Go for 3D not 4D or 5D as the vinyl is thick and shiny, matte looks better.
Clean the plate and make sure it absolutely dust free as anything will show up under the vinyl. Be careful not to firm it down until any bubbles are expelled.
Stick it on and use the bevel on the edge of the plate to lay a sharp blade on. Thats pretty much it.
example of the vinyl..

Is the symbol a sticker ? Or is it painted
Removable Sticker. Its the Alchemy decal used by Geddy Lee.

No, its too long. The Nordstrand thats in their is a better option imho

Now £400
Last of the Chinese produced RSD labelled Metro Express Sadowskys in a subtle metallic black.
I hear that the build on these can be variable but this one is excellent. The metallic finish is very good, as is the 'rosewood like' fretboard. Fretwork is good, over a fully functional dual way truss rod
The story so far..
I bought this as a run out stock item before the release of the much more expensive warwick sourced versions.
The big issue from stock was the noise on the single coil bridge pickup. The pre amp on the metro express line doesnt have the the VTC control, and is boost only.
So, I have modified:
- The pre amp is upgraded to the VTC version
- The bridge pickup has been replaced with a nordstrand blade pickup.
- I have replaced the old waterslide decal with newer sadowsky metroexpress version. (RSD decal still left in place.
- The string retainer bar has been replaced with a solid string guide.
- Scratchplate has been vinyl wrapped in a carbon style.
Its in near perfect condition, easily gig standard as I have gigged it without any issues. Weight is good at 4.1kg, no neck dive, action is excellent, no buzzes or high/pokey frets.
Will come with a sadowsky gig bag which are nigh on £100 in themselves.
Priced to sell as i have a new Dingwall on the way and no space to store this now. Its a great bass for the money with some choice upgrades all in a nice well padded case.
Pickup, meetup or shipping at buyers expense all possible.
