Gibson The Switchblade Premium Guitar Strap I received this as a gift earlier in the year and it is ideal for heavy guitars or those that suffer from back ache. I haven’t really put it to good use as I have another similar Gibson Montana strap too so its time to move it on.If you play heavy Les Pauls or similar this strap will be perfect for you and has an array for extras designed for comfort and ease of use. Its high quality with thick padding and made from leather. Retails for around £70-80 new so pick up a bargain and save your back! This is what they say about it: Quite possibly the most comfortable strap you will ever own, the Switchblade is full of modern innovation. Gibson Gear has pushed the envelope on design to produce a strap with a high-tech nylon buckle (with quick-release connect) and a brilliant elastic design for added comfort. Of course, the Switchblade also features half-inch thick memory foam padding covered by soft and thick, top-quality, full-grain top leather. The black strap includes a wide, thick and soft leather pad and soft garment leather backing and is detail stitched. You’ve never seen anything like it. Length adjustable between 47.5"-60". Will post for £5 but prefer collection (Bromley, North Kent)

yeah it was a fender headstock but the chrome tuners needed a little filing work in order to lock together. I must of had a bad batch because the slightest stress and the cog crumbled... I have to say they don't look especially strong

Anyone had any experience fitting these? I bought a set and had a hell of a time fitting them. Once I had manged to do this I began putting the strings on and the cogs on the D string tuner basically stiffened and then the teeth crumbled away! I can't send them back because I had to do some minor sounding down on two of them (would not affect the cog area) so they would fit together on the head. I'm shocked at the quality of a geuine fender part.... Think I'll stick to G&L in the future!!
Ridiculously good guitars for the money. Very good live sound, our guitarist uses one and rates it above his other, more expensive instruments. Have a free bump.
Thanks, I completley agree with your guitarist! I was considering keeping it but someone on gumtree has just stumped up the cash so its now sold!
Not what I meant, mate. Harness the raw, unfettered power of Basschat! There must be several hundred Basschatters sitting a tube-ride away from you, maybe thousands. Someone will have one for you to try. You just need to ask about a bit ...
I see, Good idea! Thanks.
Your sig says you're in London. Can you really not try before you buy?
The first one is discontinued although I suppose I could have a hunt round in the non Internet shops
I like the '75 although it fits the profile of a custom colour late 60's/early 70's Jazz a lot more. I'd be interested to know if the bridge pickup was 70's position too, if not it's a really late 60's looking Jazz. Still really nice though!
I think you are right. Its got more in common with a late 60's model then a 70's. Hopefully someone that has one will pop up on here with more info!
I guess unless you have the chance to try them both out it's impossible to tell what they play like.... Its an interesting looking bass though. I've not seen one like that before, is it MIJ?
Thats an example one I've posted a picture of but its a ltd edition US Reissue (Although there are new MIJ ones around). Like you say you never know for 100% until you try one!
I like the look of that 75 personally... although I thought the thumb rest had moved to the other side of the strings by 75.... I may well be wrong! Whatever it is though it looks lovely....
yeah Im going that way too but Im not overkeen on the headstock... Wonder what the play difference is like?

So, I’m thinking of getting one of the following Fender Jazz Bass models but I have no experience of trying either one out and will probably have to buy before I try online if I decide to take the plunge. Has anybody else on here got any experience of these basses and any feedback they can provide?
