Hi yes if you make black postive it will be thin sounding

The olny new pot you need is the blend pot. The 2 OLP white leads go to the centre leg of the blend pot & blacks to earth, as it is showned in the SD web site.

You have got it in 1 2 whites go to gether & 2 balck together very easy. My Casino Stingray knock off with 2 SD 1/4 pounders (A) they are wire up parrellel . It came with 1 pickup & 2v &1t .I installed a SD MM preamp I have a mid bass & treble with 2 on off switchs to turn on each pickup.

You can go parraell as we or put a push pull pot in go go series / paralell

Up date I have had this bass for about 10 days. 1 st ting I found out the bridge has suffred like all Rickenbacker bass & has had tail lift , So I have installed the Hipshot bridge. Much better I can see why people rave on about the bridges ( Hipshot). I found this out when I replaced the strings old 1 were abit sad I have a set of SD Rick pickups, I installed them & compare them to the pickups that came with it. To me ther wasnt a bigg diffrence so I reinstalled the old pickups. I am thinking of selling the SD pickups & the Rick copy bridge. I am making a black pickgaurd as I like the black with maple look better than the white & maple look. I have had to mark the dials ( no marking) as I am still not used to the pot placement on Ricks ( keep on turning down volue on neck pickup & adjust the tone. I like the bridge pickup cover.I am making at work a plate so I can have Ricko sound. I like it for the $600 OZ ( to give you a idea here in OZ a real 4003 Rick s/hand same condition would st you back about $2000) If I had to pay $2000 I think I would go a Fender Jazz.

I like them but on my SX P bass with a diffrent bridge it wont go on. I dont like the pickup covers but a funny thing is since I got my Rickenbacker 4003 copy , it came with the bridge pickup cover & I like playing it with it on. I have tried it both on & off but I have left it on. When some one worries about wood stripping etc on screws into body simple just remove the cover & fill up the hole with super glue.or expoy glue, Wait 1/2 hour & reinstall the screws it will make the wood like steel ie wont beable to stripp it

Hi I was wondering if any 1 has had any yhing to do with the Vintage brand bass es by JHS . The model Iam looking at is the EST96AF ( looks like a 5 string Stingray / sub) Is this brand any good or bad?. I want to try a 5 string bass & was going to build 1 . I have a SD MM 5string pickup. as I like the look of Stingrays. If I bought this bass I have a preamp I can put into it & as well as the SD pickup. That way I can have the double H pattern. Any comments welcome thanks

At the shop they thought it was a 2000 model, so by that theyere right ie 2000 / 2001. I played it at the shop against a real 2003 Rick 4003 . It was very much like it. The reason why I bought it as I was going to make 1 after seeing Al s ricks that he build & posted here. I worked out with SD pickups Rick bridge etc it was going to be about $500+ with no inlay in the neck etc. This I got for $600 ( put a deposit as I didnt have all of the $). I am thinking of making a stero out put & try 2 bass amps for fun. It wont be a reall output plate as they want on ebay about $200 for them . What a joke. I might install a Hipshot bridge as before I bought this bass I had bought 1 off ebay like new brass for about 1/2 price. If not I might flog it off. I day I might make a Rick 4003.

Hi its not plywood . The shop owner thinks its Samick. There no marks on it . I think its been put away & only taken out once a year. I have put a deposit on it . It was $600 with a gig bag. Australian which is about 300 GBP. They had a well used Greco 79 for $1000 & a 85 Greco for $1300 both set necks. The photos were taken out side, thats why there is iron walls . Will let you know more in a week or 2

To me its saying dont lend me any thing as I will not look after it

Hi my son has a Stingray knock off with a SD SMB-4D ( ceramic ) pickup with a SD STC-3M4 preamp that suits the the pickup. He wants to now install a 2nd MM pickup. I was wondering does any 1 out there recommend / know should we install the same pickup or should we go for the SMB-4A ( alnico ). If we go for 1 of each which do you recommend in neck & which at bridge. We will install a 3 way switch for the 2 pickups. Thanks

Hi all thanks for that 1 of my worries about a 5 string is I tried a OLP 5 string & the neck was like a baseball neck
-
That was quick to be honest I dont use the G that much & what I am more worried is it will end up like my sons 12 string guitar used 30 mins every 12 months + my wife allways tell me I have toooo many guitars / basses
-
Hi all my son keeps on telling me to buy a 5 string bass. As I have a SX P & a Squier P&J bass , I was wondering should I 1 buy a 5 string bass SX or Squier , Or 2 get a new nut for 1 of the basses file it to suit the bottom 5 of a 5 string set & tune to Bead.

If you had an itchy bum at night., right ..robert43 replied to xilddx's topic in General Discussion I vote give it away but also I think its crass & been done to death. To me its like a joke good 1st couple of times but then old & unfunny
-
I love the way the G & D strings are put on. To be honest it might be easier to get 4 new machine heads rather than try & find 1 of them
-
I live by the old saying never lend your wife , lawn mower or musical gear as it will only come back F****D Not much saying a contract etc whats to say she will pay or even have the money to pay for repairs . I say lend it to here with a deposit say 110% of the market price of the gear
