1. I'd love to give these a try if they're available fairly soon...
2. I used to play a P bass with the Jamerson La Bella flatwound strings on and loved the tension of the strings as well as the sound. Last year a broke my wrist and have since changed to playing a short scale Fender Mustang bass because of the reduced flexibility, but I can't find any flat or tape wound strings that fit this bass and have anywhere near as much tension. Does anyone know of anything that might be worth trying to get better tension on a short scale bass with a through body only bridge? Thanks, Joe.
3. Hi Guys, I'm looking to sell my Breedlove bass, check the link here for full specs. It's a great sounding bass both acoustically and through an amp, it plays nicely and is surprisingly feedback resistant for a Jumbo bodied acoustic bass. The bass is in good condition, there are a few purely cosmetic marks near the bridge from changing strings but other than that it's clean. Comes with a nice semi-rigid gig bag. I'll try to post pics on monday. Looking for £500 + postage O.N.O. If you'd like to try it out I'm based in Sale, Cheshire. Cheers, Joe
4. Thanks guys
5. So I'm going to build myself a bass, I'm looking for something similar to the sound on The Mars Volta's album De-loused in the Comatorium, specifically on the track Take the Veil Cerpin Taxt. I was wondering if there's any P bass know-it-alls that could suggest what kind of specs to go with (i was thinking ash body, maple neck and board) to best achieve this? I was also wondering if adding a single coil J style pickup in the bridge would detriment the sound of the P pickup? I might want to blend it in a bit when i need a bit more growl and focus. Here's a link to the track mentioned above; Take the Veil Cerpin Taxt Thanks in advance.
6.
Wow! IP310's are rare as hens teeth
Yeah, they sound absolutely nuts too. I'm thinking of switching to the IP112/EX112 option, but i need to A/B the two. If the 12's don't stand up to the 10's for what I do then I think I'll stick with the 310. If only i could afford both....
7. I have a Bergantino IP310 that I'm thinking of getting rid of. Bought new from BassDirect a couple of years ago, it has a couple of minor scuffs but has been kept in it's cover when not in use so is in pretty mint condition. Brief specs are: 3x10 active cabinet w/ tweeter 1,000 watts 86lbs Check www.bergantino.com for more details. Padded cover and all necessary cables included. Looking for around £1100. Cheers
8. Thanks for all the input, i'll be sure to look around for everything that's been mentioned and see what i can get my hands on!
9. Hi Guys, I'm looking to get a distortion/overdrive unit which has the ability to blend the distorted signal with the clean one, so i can get a growly grinding kind of distortion but still keep my own tone, similar to dirk lance on incubus tracks like out from under. Any suggestions would be great. Cheers
10. Hi MoJ, I've been looking at the DHA pedals for a while but since i can't try them out anywhere am quite reluctant to just go for it. I am looking to get that really aggressive but very transparent driven tone that dirk lance gets on some of his work on incubus (Out from under, have you ever, under me umbrella) I know he got his sound from essentially bending a big muff with his dry sound, Do you think that one of daves pedals would be able to pull this off? And if so can it be done in the channel 1 section or does it need more drive than that? As i could always get a vt1 mark 3 if you can get that sound in channel 1. Here are some links to the songs if you don't have them yourself; Out From Under Have You Ever Under My Umbrella Cheers
