2.
No, VAT and Duties across the EU are harmonised. In fact, the rate of VAT in France is 19.6% so you're paying more in VAT there than you would here. Having brought other bulky goods in from EU countries I've been charged handling fees, but that's an issue with couriers. Great basses, and with postage and some freebies thrown in this is a great deal.

MRP for Fender Jaguar is circa £769, so that's not really a fair comment - all you can say is that at this time they've decided not to discount this particular line. There could be many reasons for that - distributor agreements, high demand/low supply, etc. It's not as if they're price gouging.
:) yes it is.

I hate it when people have some sort of argument backed up with some figure!

    i joke.

  3.
Hi everybody,

    I've just spotted this:

    http://guitare.playback-europe.com/g&l...lack-11098.html

Brand new G&L tribute L-2000 including gigbag and delivery from France for £390. Looks a real bargain to me.

Anybody have any experience of this supplier, please? Do you still have to pay any import duties on top of this price - I'm not sure, given that it's within the EU.

    Steve
strange. bargin on the g&l but seem to charge almost 900 clmas for a fender jag that retail at 600!

  4. will some one buy it for me?

is it just me or does Starfire sound like a make of 20 quid dvd player tyou get from asda?

  5. Anywhere between 6-10 years ago when i was a subscriber to the old BGM. I read a review for a Marleaux 4 string with a natural finish. I thought to myself, "thats a sexy looking bass one day i will get one." I just realy liked the shape!
Well years on i could still never afford one but decided to have a looksie of those lovely curves to show a friend who wanted to see this bass but cant find a picture anyehre.
cant remeber the mdel or anything.
Had a look at the web site, dosent seem to be a current model. All i can see is the MBass http://www.marleaux-bass.de/eng/baesse/mbasscustom.php where the top half of the body is the same shape. but the bottom half was like erm.. short fat horn?!?!?!?!? maybe.

edit - and the head stock was more jazz like....maybe

If anyone on the off chance has got a clue what im talking about then please post a pic or give me a model number.
    I will love you forever.

    Regards

P.s funny how crap like this just pops into your head one morning

Tried one several years ago in The Music Store in Cologne, very nice and very nearly bought one. Doesn't have a jazz head though.

Not sure about the MBass - that's one ugly..... :)

    Steve
no top half of the body was defo like the mbass, only not ugly. looked nothing liek the consat. short small fan horn on the bottom.

  8.
i've got a spare tu-2, but not that bothered about a chorus...anything else you might want to trade ?
mmm no. a/b switch. thats about it i think. got a couple of dodgy dvds! how much would you sell for?

  9. got one off a fellow chatter back in december. love it. lighter than a jazz and very playable fits me and my style perfectly. some on buy this. bargin price too for posted!

  10. in my 14 or so years of playing i have always had tone and volume up full. I like the growl i like the bump i like the fact you can hear my finger tips scratch on the stings i like the imperctions it brings through. Playing alt/punk/rock through fenders and musicman basses it just sounds and feels right to play it this way, both passive and active. I'll let my amp worry about the sound.

  11.
Hi Rusty. I cant help with the local stuff but welcome to the brotherhood of the Stagg. I got mine from Zings back in May. Ive got to say that they were a bit of a drama to deal with and I had to send the first one back as it had obviously been damaged by being sent out to someone else. Good luck with finding a dealer tho. They seem to be as rare as rocking horse sh*t.
cheers, thats the second issue i've heard about with zings. may give them a miss. and i just know the price will be bumped up a few quid when they come back into stock!

  12. Well i am taking the plunge/jumping on the band wagon by purchasing a Stagg EUB in either oct/nov. Can any of you lovely lovely people recomend the best place to purchase one from over the inter web? or in a short car journey from north yorks?

I've seen the price range from 280-380. and the cheaper places (zings?) seem to be all out of stock (duh).

also if anybody knows of a double bass/eub teacher in the harogate region then please let me know.

    warm regards.
