1. Hi All, Selling my DHA VT1 mk1. Bought a few months ago from a fellow BCer. I think it was £45 + postage so happy to let it go for that as it doesn't come with a PSU. Here is the original post. Selling as I'm trying to raise money for a new cab! Any questions do let me know. Tom
2. How much for the 15? Also, what impedence it i? Cheers.
3. Cheers for all the posts guys. Hope you all had a great Christmas. Waiting fir wembly speakers to get back of hols now! Since the first post I've got all my gear back (my guitarist was looking after it) Pretty sure it wasn't amp as it has an xlr out which we used when the speaker stopped which was fine (although could be on a different part of circuit I suppose) Taking the front off the cab though, the cone grinds like buggery, very tough to move. Don't have meter at home but pretty sure that's the issue right? There's an 18 svt for sale on here, think I will get a recone, then upgrade!!
4. How much would the cab be on it's own?
5. Cheers guys, that's really useful advice. Amp does go down to 2ohms so could quite happily run a 4... Taking on board your comments on port tuning though I think I'm better sorting this cab out then swapping/selling for something that can take what my amp can throw. Merry Christmas!!
6. Cheers guys, BC saves the day again! I think I'll forever refer to him as the 3 stringed wonder. So it looks ad though I've got something to research whilst chomping on leftovers. Couple of questions; -After a bit of preliminary research, could I just buy a new driver unit and put it in myself? -I could get a 4ohm that wouldn't get killed by my amp, what are the pitfalls of this? -I didn't know you could "tune" cabs/ports, what does this mean?
7. Cheers. He's said he's gonna foot the bill but I'm not entirely confident that will happen. Similarly if I get him to sort out the repair it'll almost certainly be half arsed....
8. I know the drummer pretty well but has never met the bassist. I don't mind sharing, just angry that the took the piss. Anyway, back to the main point, is fixing my cab something I could do? Can anyone point me in the right direction?
9. It's a standard ampeg B115r so shouldn't be too hard should it? Was pretty angry last night, in hind sight I should have seen it coming. The guy turns up without an E string on his bass asking if I have a replacement (which I don't) so th only other option is for him to use my bass (which he does) I mean it wasn't even that he broke it in transport, he arrived without a fully strung guitar. I know it's the season of goodwill, of which I normally have a lot, but I feel like a co Plate idiot letting this guy near my stuff.
10. So played a really fun gig last night on a boat on the Thames, after agreeing to bring my amp+cab across London on public transport. My amp over-powers my cab so I said to the other bassist don't go above 6 or 7 (which he really wouldn't need to in such a small venue) The inevitable happens, during their set the bass conks out, I get up to ghve a look and it's completely maxes out, gain and master. So, long story short, does anyone know somewhere to fix a B115r and how much it costs? With my very limited knowledge it's probably the coil right?
11. So apparently been a member since May, time flies when you're having fun!! Finally got around to uploading a pic and some info. So I picked up a bass in March at the same time that a friend started playing the drums. (some sort of late 20s crisis???) We had a couple of jams with another friend and decided to start a band. After a drunken conversation with the other two we realised all of our mums are called susan, so the name "Sons of Susan" seemed pretty obvious... Had a couple of lucky breaks with gear and managed to get a reasonable setup for not too much money. We've just spent last Saturday recording another track. Generally just having lots of fun with the whole thing, and can't wait to be better (after lots more practice...) Anyways, feeling a little guitly about getting loads out of the forum and not really giving that much, lots of really great advice and info on the site makes me feel a bit overwheled by how little I know!! Hope to contribute more in the future. Tom
12. PM'd
13. Yeah it was cool. Although guitar and drums got laid down together and played on my lonesome, wasn't really expecting that so a bit weird and harder to get "locked in" as we didn't have a click and the tempo (I didn't think) wasn't consistent. Good fun though, seeing how it all comes together on the second day!
14. Thanks man, appreciate the comments!
15. Good communicator and a lovely case that I bought from him. Pleasure to deal with.
16. So I picked up a bass about 5 months ago (along with a friend who picked up some drum sticks), a bit after that I bought a lovely L2000 from a lovely man in Ashford on this forum but other than that have shyed away from the forum with newbie nerves! Anyway, since then picked up a used Ampeg b500dr and an Ampeg 15" to play through. Don't have loads on money but all told I've spent about £600 on axe and amps for a hobby which I'm absolutely loving!! Anyway, back to the point. Whilst our guitarist/singer has recorded before it was a first for me. Quite stress ful but interesting to learn and hear first hand the wisdom of less is more, both in the number of notes as well as finger pressure applied! Here's our FB band page, with our little EP. I'd really welcome any constructive honest feedback. Cheers! Tom
