1. A stonking night last night in our 'nemesis' venue (2 separate stages - drummer on 1, everyone else on the other!). Floor full from first not until last. Usually the place is empty, but this was our first Saturday night there and it was standing room only. And the ladies... oh the ladies... there were a few 'bum' notes, if you know what i mean :brow:

Roads were awful and I wasn't crawling into my pit until nearly 4 (finished at 1), but well worth it and we've been booked for 2 nights a month in the place next year after last night.

  2.
I played a new Lakland JO 4-stringer the other week. Lovely bass with through body stringing, etc., but it had very narrow string spacing. Definitely not 19mm. Is this normal on Lakland jazz models?
Very strange. Mine is somewhere between 19-20mm...

  3.
hi do you rate the jo against the dj as i am going to try both
Sorry for the late reply. Unfortunately I've never played a DJ. The DJ is a slightly different vibe (70's jazz rather than 60's). I've never played a Laklnad I didn't like (some more than others though - the hollow just wasn't my thing, but i'd like to have one in the house 'cos they look so cool!). I'm thinking about moving on my Bongo5 and replacing it with a Lakland 5 string.

  4.
What sort of thing are you looking for changing it for ?
Preferably cash!

It is awesome, and very lightweight for its size (only weighs 2 pounds more than my 1x10 ashdown combo!), it's just much more poke than I'm ever likely to need - but the GAS had hold of me at the time and wouldn't let go!

I'm not in dire need to replace it with anything as my Ashdown combo is enough for any of my current gigs (supplemented by an Aguilar 1x12 if the PA gives up!).

  5. Hi guys,

I'm considering selling my Tech Soundsystems 4x12 cab. I'd be looking in the region of £500 plus postage for the cab. Details of the monster can be found here:

    http://www.tech-soundsystems.com/eng/home/index.html

    under 12" section.

The cab is 8 ohms, but is very sensitive so volume and 'not using full power of my amp' has never been a worry.

I can get pics for anyone who's interested, but it's basically as new (never gigged - only used at rehersal a few times so hardly broken in).

Just too big for my current requirements.

    Cheers

    Ian

Yeah, you say that now... just you wait... everybody here's heard that one before!

    Welcome, btw!

  7.
A bit of a size and weight difference compared to the MB LMII

The overused word in relation to these amps was the 1st one that jumped into my mind when using the amp for the 1st time.

    Warm.

Initial impressions are that there's plenty of volume available, the 'Brite' button certainly works as does the passive tone controls (very different to cut and boost active tone controls)

Perceived quality is good (controls and finish). It does get a bit 'hissy' at 5 on the treble tone and volume at or above 7.

For £189 so long as it keeps going it's incredible.

I've got a better quality valve that'll fit and wonder if it's worth a try?
Looking forward to hearing how this amp gets on with your Aggie cab. Was thinking about getting one for my GS112 too!
