1. I'm just in from band practise where I was playing my Lakland JO4. Awesome bass. Never played the DJ4 but I believe it's more of a 70's vibe than the JO.

I like the UV Sads too , but they couldn't twice as good as what I've already got. Saying that I've never played one... scared to!

  2. Pino hasn't played as much fretless since the early 90's. He's a pure 'P-bass with flatwounds' head now. The man's a legend! If I could steal one player's chops it'd be his...

Funny this appears now, I just took to listening to all the Pino I have on my iPod yesterday!

  3.
Ahh - misinterpretation due to my poor technique of having my thumb over the top instead of up the back of the neck.
You couldn't do that on my 6 string. Aircraft carrier comes to mind, but I love it!

  4. Larry Graham... (Sly and the Family Stone, Graham Central Station, Prince)

Have a look about for his instructional video. It's a good laugh - the man's totally mad!

There's some good instructional stuff on youtube too. Have a look for a user called 'marlowedk'.

  5.
These look good and probably sound good as well, but where are the customers for a £3000 bass in the UK? BG, Overwater, Sei, RIM, ACG, the newly resurrecting Wal and others are already fighting over a very small customer base. The pickup is unique and flexible but didn't we discover in another thread that most of us get a sound we like then rarely change the tone controls? I wish Enfield Guitars good luck and think they'll need it starting up, as they are, on the verge of a recession.
Speaking of Wal there is quite a striking resemblance isn't there...

  6.
I'd love this.
I would have it already if shipping was an option. I have the 4x12 version and it is the best cab I've ever played through (I'd say this is probably on a level...), just a little too big to go in my car comfortably!

  7. Cheers for the comments guys. She is an absolute beauty.

It does growl quite a bit - as much as my wenge necked Warwick Corvette does anyway, but I can get the same sound with a lighter touch on the Shuker. Don't have to dig in as much. Can't dig in too much anyway because of the ramp, which is an absolute revelation by the way.

Jons neck finish is fantastic. The neck looks like a Warwick, but feels satin smooth. Very nice. Still trying to find my way around as it's my first sixer!

  8. Firstly, apologies that these are terrible mobile phone camera pictures, but since I'm about the worst photographer on the planet that doesn't really make that much difference!

Here she is in all her LED, wenge and maple (birdseye and quilted) glory! Enjoy

Also apologies they're all the wrong way up...

  9. I'm looking for a Status Series 3000 as a gigging bass at the minute and the 'wanted' sections of here and the Statii forum just don't seem to be getting the job done. How about setting up some sort of club where everyone looking for a certain bass can register their desired bass and if anyone sees one for sale they can post a 'spotted' post?

    Stupid idea?

  10. Hi guys,

Haven't had a chance to take any pics yet, but will do tonight. Suffice to say that Jon Shuker is a genius. This thing is exactly what I wanted. Sounds awesome and plays even better.

I'm already planning number 2 - one I won't be afraid to take out of the house!

    Cheers

    Ian

  11. I was so impressed with the lowdown 110 that I immediately thought of buying one for gigging, since all our stuff goes through the PA anyway... then we had a nightmare gig where the mixer gave up and we needed to use the backline to get through the gig. The wee 1x10 couldn't have handled that!

*(thinking) I suppose since we had 15 minutes of fiddling between PA going down and us deciding to use the backline I would have had time to get a proper rig from the van.... this idea has merit! (thinking)*
