  1. I have no wish to go back to dragging hefty equipment at midnight through car parks & late night disco's so hoping it can be sorted out. There are a large number of variables in the problem and i don't discount myself from any of it - something has to give in terms of sound quality when you play at a particular level anyhow, it's just so frustrating. Maybe i will just buy a bass synth ! . Only joking....thanks for the input everyone.
  2. One band does use the P.A - there are many issues there in terms of other people's volume tbh but it really comes to the fore with the smaller band. I have had them on chairs, beer crates, spaced apart...depending on how much room you end up with and that's where the traveller win's out, when you can stack up and save footprint in the band environment. Thinking about borrowing something a little more generic for my next gig to see if something like an ABM 500 gives me something a bit more honest.
  3. I becomes wooly and boomy, which leads to much moving of cab position & being tempted by the EQ once more! Thanks for the info, Progben.
  4. It can be both - but the thing i miss the most is bottom end - given it's old school soul, maybe i am too aware of it... I usually end any soundcheck out front to try and get a decent perspective and it can be very random. I can accept that from rooms, sometimes i plug in and it's fine but others, i get the odd comment about having more bottom end or presence and i can understand that because it's true. I use two traveller cabs, they are great for the venues because being able to stack up is a bonus at times! have also tried them a la 4x10, raised up, pointing in different directions....i have heard other jazz players with a great presence / bottom end, it just seems at times the TH500, despite the reputation for tone & the preamp, isn't quite there - i have had a few afternoon trying to get to the bottom of it, think i have it sorted and then.....back to square one.
  5. Really pleased with the responses so far! I have mostly played with a Japanese jazz bass - had custom shop Fender 60's pick up's installed about 2 years ago. I am aware that the jazz has less growl than a P, i do prefer a jazz in terms of sound and feel. Play mostly with a very compact 4 piece, volume wise it never struggles but at times there is very little bottom end - again, reputation of the Jazz perhaps but given the random rooms & circumstances, the alleged reputation of the TH500 & Markbass cabs....it just seems there should be more! Don't want to go crazy with the volume and make matters worse. Bass wise, i am rolling off / blending treble and pick up's to suit the songs.
  6. Gotta love BC - some great opinions there and all very useful to me. I haven't discounted my own shortcomings in all of this and it may be my ears! All much appreciated so far, thanks guys.
  7. Thanks for the suggestions, food for thought.
  8. Hello all... The whole class D thing is obviously done to death so i will keep it brief! Been using a TH500 for about a year and at times, it lacks punch - i play mostly old school soul through the TH500, 2 Markbass 2x10's and mostly a jazz bass but at times, it becomes impossible to dial in a sound with punch and it honestly sounds nasal rather than anything else.... Someone suggested a use a pre amp pedal - would this help or hinder or would it be pure sacrilege....? Or i could just move it on for something with punch that never misses! Any thoughts welcome.
  9. SALE ON HOLD - unable to get both cabs sold in time and now have too many gigs in diary to turn up with one cab. Apologies to all interested parties and thanks to Mr 4 Candles for the glowing reference, putting some flats on Santa's list for you.
  10. I still have them, £290 for the Italian - as it's in a very new condition - and £240 for the Indonesian version, which is an older one. The only other difference seems to be the weight to be honest. Thanks to all who sent P.M's for being patient.
  11. Frantically attempting to sell two Markbass cabs so i can buy this!
  12. Two Markbass Traveller 102p cabs - one Italian & one Indonesian, only mentioning as some people find this important! Both in good condition, never pushed live & purchased not long ago from two extremely respectable & talented Basschatter's from this very forum... For collection in Staffordshire area, although something can be arranged should you wish to meet halfway. Looking for £570 for both, trade wise Aguilar or Barefaced may interest me. Any questions welcome, additional pictures available on request. Thanks, Sean

  14. I think i may have dwelled too long and lost out - Let me know if you still find yourself with a compact to sell!
  15. Hello, Interested in the compact, i currently have a Aguilar TH500 and wondering if you have pushed it with anything more than the Eden? Thanks.
  16. Thanks for the suggestions - Agedhorse from the Talkbass site has offered some support to anyone who looks at it but iv tried 4 people in the Midlands and they are not keen, due to not having seen too many Genz amps. Will try Bass Direct next. I also have some gigs next week so time will also be a factor. Thanks again.
  17. I suspect it's the voltage that has fried it...iv made some enquiries in the Midlands this afternoon and no one willing to touch it as they don't have much experience with GB.....I wish i knew what happened! I used to have a Ampeg PF500 so well aware of the voltage situation. Looks like i'm on the scrounge in the meantime!
  18. No power or lights, suspect it's the voltage scenario. Looks like I'm going acoustic...
  19. I think they have some kind of internal fuse thing relative to the power system it uses - which is unique, apparently..but yes, i think it may be the fuse. Basically...do not touch! I should just have stuck to an acoustic bass...
  20. Yeah it's all working for other things....the skies are beginning to darken...
  21. Hello all, I know there are a few Genz threads running but haven't seen one regarding the amp not powering up. It has come to me by way of trade for other things and after initially playing it to test, getting it home to play for about 5 minutes, it will now not power on. Have changed the power lead for one i know works but still nothing... Not had this issue before myself with any other heads so unsure if it has just...expired... Any ideas...? Thanks.
