1. I'm currently putting together a very similar pedalboard but with a Boss CEB-3 chrous. You're making a good choice with the XXL! I was originally looking at the LS2, but instead decided on this looper from Bright Onion Pedals: http://www.brightonion.co.uk/dual-ab-looper/ This way, not only can it go straight from distortion to chorus with just one switch, but you'll also be able to go straight to clean from either effect as well. It also doesn't require power (although if you do power it, the LEDs will light up).
2. I'm guessing you've probably bought a case by now, but I just thought I'd say after seeing the ibanez hard case up close, that although it was a perfect fit, in terms of quality I wasn't very impressed.
3. I originally just used to play purely fingerstyle but now I play more and more with a plec, originally because I tended to dig in quite hard at gigs and blister my fingers (no matter how often I was playing) but now more and more for the tone it produces. I've now got certain songs within my setlist that I play with each, which not only gives my fingers a rest, but makes the songs more varied as well. My main worry when playing live with a plec was dropping it, and although that did happen a few times initially, I soon found gripper plectrums that I now use (and always have spares to hand). Plectrum's do seem a lot more common in the bands I've seen, but also in my experience, the bassists I've seen play fingerstyle have played at a much higher level than those who have played with plec's. I've never thought much about this until I saw the above post about switching from guitar, but there's probably quite a few guitarists that have ended up on bass if the band couldn't find someone to play. In fact, our lead guitarist did just that in a previous band.
4. I haven't bought one yet, but after looking at a lot of video's on Youtube, the TC Electronic Polytune or Polytune Mini look very good. You can strum all the strings at once (even on a bass) and it'll show you exactly which strings are out. Playing a single string will then zoom in like a normal tuner. The Mini doesn't take a battery, so is only a good idea if you're running a pedalboard.
5. I'm currently building a pedalboard and am looking for a cheap 6 pedal power supply to get me started. The pedalboard has/will eventually have the following: Tech21: XXL Bass Boss CEB-3 Chorus Bright Onion Dual AB Looper TC Electronic Polytune Mini Boss DD-7 Delay Boss OC-3 Octaver The CEB-3 draws 22mA, OC-3 50mA, DD-7 55mA, Polytune Mini 40mA. I'm unsure of the current draw on the XXL and the Bright Onion is only to power a couple of LEDs (the rest of the pedal is passive). That's about 200mA draw total. I'd like about double that though as a minimum so something about 400mA+ I like the idea of the Boss power supply, but I can't use the daisy chain as I don't think any of these pedals have a DC out? Has anyone bought a power supply from ebay and if so, what was it like?
6. Thanks for the reply, I'll get onto Gear4Music to have it swapped over then :-)
7. icastle: Thanks, I'll wire it to the second amp outlet when I get it then. Mr. Foxen: Thanks, I know what you mean by the cab farting, so I'll listen out for that.
8. I've just set up my Orange Bass Terror 500 for the first time with an SP210 and it has no volume at all. It's literally so quite that's it's about double the volume of playing unplugged! At the same time, it's farting out on all but the G string and still has no volume, no matter what I do. I've previously heard the cab I've got through another Bass Terror and so I know that both the cab is fine and that it should be A LOT louder than this. I've just tested my bass and instrument lead with my Roland Cube 30 and have confirmed that they aren't the issue. That just leaves the speakon lead and the amp, both of which are brand new. Does anyone have any idea as to what is likely to be the issue? Thanks
9. Thanks very much for the reply. Is it better to wire a second cab to the original cab or to the amp, or doesn't it make any difference?
10. Hi, I've just bought an Orange Bass Terror and an SP210 but I'm not sure how to wire them up. Both the amp and the cab have two connectors on the back. From the diagram in the manual, it looks like there should be two cables used (one from the amp to the speaker and another one from the other speaker connector back to the other amp connector). On Youtube however, I've only seen one cable used to connect the amp and cab. 1) Do I need one or two wires? 2) If I add another cab, how do I then wire that one in? 3) How do I tell when the amp in clipping? (I'm after quite a dirty sound, can I safely do this by turning the gain up?)
11. I bought an Orange SP210 from Christian and am extremely pleased with how it went. It looks brand new and even came with its original packaging. He allowed me to have a play on the cab through his own Terror Bass head and there was no pressure to hurry up. He was also quick to reply to all my PM's. All in all, it was a perfect transaction and I really can't see how it could have been improved :-) Thanks again, Jake

15. For Sale/For Trade is my TC Electronic BG500 210. I've really enjoyed the wide tonal range this combo offers, along with the volume (at volume 3, it can keep up with a loud drummer!). It's got a large range of features including a built in tuner for 4 and 5 string basses. I bought the amp on the 23rd May 2011 and it came with a 5 year warranty. This warranty is transferable and so will be put into the new owners name. As I've only had the amp a year, that means there's almost another 4 years left! (Until 22nd May 2016!) I'm currently looking to downsize and so have instead decided to get an Orange SP210 and an Orange Bass Terror head. I've now bought an SP210, but I am still looking for a Bass Terror Head. I'm therefore looking for one of the following: - An Orange Bass Terror Head - Or £350 I'm located in West Sussex however I often travel between Brighton, Portsmouth and Surrey, and so could deliver the amp within these areas for free. I could also deliver the amp further afield, but would require some petrol money to do this. Any questions, please feel free to ask :-) The full list of features are explained here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=j4mFS6-kMX0 http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=B6P-tK-L8qY

17. Hi I bought some strings in town earlier but on getting home I've realised they aren't the ones I thought they were in the shop. I was after these: http://www.gak.co.uk/en/rotosound-swing-ba...5-5-string/5883 And I purchased these by mistake (except in 40-125 as above): http://www.gak.co.uk/en/rotosound-swing-ba...ale-45-130/5921 I'm just trying to work out what the differences are. I think it might be just an older packaging design but I'm not 100%. The main thing confusing me is that the ones I was going to get say "Long Scale" on the packet as do the ones I actually bought. The description however says "XL Scale" for the second link though. Does anyone know if they are a different scale? The bass they're going to go on is an Ibanez SR505.

Mic up/output?

When recording, is it best to mic up the bass (and guitar) amp(s) or just use the output on the amp direct to the recording device?
19. I recently purchased a modified Roland DS-1 Pedal from Chris. The whole purchase has been extremely quick; private messages were responded to within minutes and the item was sent out very fast. It arrived well packaged and I'm extremely happy with it. Wouldn't hestitate to purchase again from you. Thanks again!
20. That looks really cool! Seasick Steve played on Top Gear with a guitar made from Morris Minor hub caps. It had a really cool sound too it. Would love to have a go on a bass like that!
