  1. I am afraid I can not test it. It is in another country
  2. I have been considering a "retro" bass like these ones for a while and I think the time has come. I am lefthanded and want an affordable short or medium scale so not too many options. Which of these ones would you choose and why? Right now I could get the Ibanez second hand but the Hagstrom has to be new, so the price would be double, although that has not to be decisive. Thanks for your help
  3. In addition to the headless, the bass is 32" so I have to use single ball strings. I will try the g clamp, thanks
  4. Knobs are metal. Regarding the bridge...I don't know. Not too many headless 5 string bridges available I presume.
  5. I have got a headless 5 string bass that counter neck dives or bridge dives (if those expressions do exist). When the bass is on a strap is very noticeable but when you play it while seated is much worse. I spend more time trying to return the neck to horizontal than actually playing the thing. I hate it. I do not want the neck to be horizontal to the ground, but more than 45 degrees to the sky... I think is too much. Any way to weight the nut or do something about this? I like the bass a lot but seldom play it because of this issue. Help!!!
  6. I think it is the other way around. The earlier ones were the ones with vynil, as far as I know
  7. And I have just noticed that the 15" speakers that have the letters, have a much smaller central dome than the ones that don't have the printed letters. Curious.
  8. Hello, I have recently bought a Trace Elliot 1153 cabinet from the SMX era. Vynil covered and two ports. I have seen a lot of pictures of cabs from that era that have "trace elliot" printed on the speakers. Mine does not. The cab is in very good shape and works fine, but I am wondering if the speaker could be the original or if it has been replaced. The guy I bought this from says he did not replace the speaker, but he was not the first owner anyways. Could you help me?
  9. I could always buy some other brand PJ pickups, but the thing is that there are not too many options for a 5 string and the think that I like about this EMG is that they do not need to be soldered. Plug and play.
  10. @whavenot the Geezers but the active version. That is another thing I need to sort out. Where to put the battery.
  11. How did the EMG fit? I am considering those for my TMB35 5 string but I am worried about the jack input, for these come for a Jazz/Precision instalation. I mean, to be installed horizontally in a plate. Also, did they improve the sound a lot? Thanks!
  12. It seems that the people from some town in Germany are called "Lionels" That includes Sandberg´s owner. I saw him explaining that in a video in Youtube
  13. I am looking for an affordable lefty medium scale bass and I have not got a lot of options, to be honest. A couple of days ago I asked here about the Fernandes FRB but did not get any answers. I have also found a very good condition 1987 Greco Device PJ wich is also medium scale but I do not know anything about the model or brand. Can anybody help me? Is it a good brand and model? Thanks
  14. Hello; I have got a Fernandes FRB revolver PJ bass on my radar. Made in Japan 1980. 32" scale. Is it any good? The price is around 500€

  16. I have just lowered the pickups to the max. Let´s see what happens. The only thing left to do, if this does not work, is to remove the pickups, take away the springs/foam/whatever there is under them, and put them back in. That would give me another couple mm...I guess
  17. I hope this is the right forum for this. I have just noticed this crack in the pickup. This particular bass has two of them (MM). Is it just a cosmetic issue or do you think it can affect the sound. If it can affect the sound, how? I have been struggling with this particular bass for a while because it sounds reasonable ok up to the 12th fret aprox but, from there up, it sounds weird. It sounds like the note you are fretting and the harmonic sound at the same time. The bass has been set up, intonated, and checked by a luthier, but it still sounds weird to me. Could this crack in the pick up be the problem. Could it be a thing of pick up placement? Help!!!
  18. OK, OK, let me explain. I got a medium scale neck that I want to use. I am left handed and cannot find a finished medium scale body for it. Would you buy a long scale body and move the bridge closer, a short scale body and move the bridge away or it does not matter which one. Thank you
  19. I have just tested an Ah500x head and everything seemed to work fine, but I have to turn the gain control almost to full 100% to make the "ok" led light. I would say 9-9,5 in the 10 scale. Is that normal or is it a sign that something is not working correctly?
