1. In the next couple of days I will be surely buying an early 90s TE head and was wondering if that will give me the classic TE sound when I plug it into my modern 2x10 Genz Benz cabinet, or will I also need to buy a 90s TE cabinet to get it. Please comment. Thanks
2. I have got one of those also. I like the neck a lot. How about you?
3. I will be surely doing it, as I have 4 short scale 4 strings (not showing off), unless somebody says it is a no no.
4. I have just converted the only long scale 34" 4 string bass that I´ve got to BEAD tuning. I do not use the upper registers that the G string offers that much and, on the other hand, I like the availabilty of the lower notes that the "extra string" provides me and I also like the less tension in the strings overall. But the stretch in the lower frets is still the same so I was wondering if any of you use or have used that setting in a short scale bass (which is the scale I use the most). Thanks!
5. sorry, but English is not my mother´s tongue. Does that mean that it is a good or a bad amp? I am guessing that you mean that it is very powerfull for a 200w amp?
6. I have this one in my radar for buying. 180€ and seems to be in pretty good shape. Besides contacting Trace Elliot, is there any way to know from which year is this head? By the way, is this model any good? It is a Series 6 GP12 Thanks
7. cool?...maybe. Convenient? I do not think so. Specially Fender style or 4/5 in a row tuners.
8. When I discovered (not too long ago) that Mark King was left handed, it blew my mind!
9. It seems that the general consensus here is "no". I have posted the same topic but the other way around in the lefties forum, because the real question is if a lefty bassist would buy the bass of his dreams in a righty version. Nobody has answered yet, but I would love to read some repplies in there, for maybe we lefties are more "used" to playing right handed basses than right handed bassist are "used" to playing lefties (if any)...if you knon what I mean. Some decades ago it was our only choice.
10. Yes, it is the Thumb. Regarding your last phrase, being a lefty who plays since 1985 and having had a lot of trouble finding lefty basses in the past, I just cannot understand why some rightys play left handed instruments just fot the sake of it. I cannot even understand reverse headstocks. It shows that they haven´t suffered the way we lefties have.
11. Hello: Let´s pretend you have this special bass that you have been drooling over since the mid 80´s. It is almost impossible to get a second hand one and although they are still being produced new, it is just not the same bass...you know. Then you find an used one. Good condition and very good price but...it is righthanded. Would you buy it? It would be played (not as a main bass) and admired. Would you?

13. Besides for all Level 42 freaks (like myself), is this unit worth it nowadays compared to modern stuff? What's a good price to buy it?
14. I do not know if neck dive is going to be an issue for me this time. You see, this is a sentimental buy. I am lefty and play lefty but this bass is righthanded. I could as well buy an used lefty Thumb but, as I said before, this is a sentimental buy. I just like the right handed model better. I mostly play seated. Will the neck dive be worse this way (playing a right hand bass upside down and seated)?
15. The bass is in pretty good shape because it has been used few times. Wenge/bubinga neck. Is 940 quid a good deal? Any typical faults or malfuctions I should look for in this model? Thanks
16. Hello. I would like to buy an "old" TE amp or combo. This is the first time I will be buying used gear so I would be very grateful if you can give me some advice. When I go to see and test the gear, is there any particular things to test or to look for to be sure that the gear is working fine? The gear will probably be from the early/mid 90s so I am sure it wont probably be 100% perfect but... Thanks
17.
Hi there, Long-time reader but first-time poster and I'd like to keep this thread for buying/selling instruments. So if you can point me elsewhere I'll post there. Here goes. I'm a Lefty but play guitar RH. Have done since my primary school teacher insisted that I don't play the 'wrong way round'. However I recently started playing bass LH. 1) My left wrist is starting to ache after a long gigs playing RH 2) Whilst playing a Chapman stick I found RH fingering easy and my RH on piano is much slicker than my LH 3) My wife, a psychology lecturer told me about mirroring - the fact that when teaching, your pupils respond better if they copy as if from a mirror. i.e. I started to teach my beginner RH students with me playing (rudimentary) LH. 4) I AM LEFT HANDED! However - The question has come up a few times wether it's worth the hassle for my students to start playing LH. The fact that quality LH instruments are so rare that we foam up like piranhas every time something suitable appears on Ebay suggests that the market is dry, but manufacturers don't seem to see it that way. I went to the bass fair in Olympia 2010 and there were hundreds of RH basses and about a dozen Leftys. Why shouldn't we just suck it up and play RH. It's what all orchestral players do? Thoughts please. Also. I'm desperate for a good LH headless bass. Or something less than Long Scale. As a guitar player basses seem HUGE! Is there any real issue with short/medium scale basses. I know Macca played a medium scale, and he did ok... Thanks for your reading and I would love to hear any comments. A
I have got an Status S2 4 string headless for sale... How about that? 18. Hi everybody, I have just purchased a second hand Warwick Streamer LX4 from 2010. It comes with crome hardware and I do not like it very much. I firstly thought about buying new black hardware but I don´t have a lot of cash to spare right now, so I finally decided to sawp the crome hardware for the black that´s in my 2007 Thumb. Guess what? The black hardware fits perfectly into the Streamer, but the crome tail piece of the bridge does not fit into the Thumb! It´s a matter of milimeters, but it does not fit. I did not expect this and now I do not know what to do. Maybe some light hits with a hammer will do... Maybe I can take the Thumb to a luthier to do the job... I was again thinking about buying a new tail piece but...what if it does not fit either? Has this ever happended to you or have you ever heard something like this? Please help
19. Final question: This 1994 model has the electronics´ cover fixed with screws. No easy access type. Is that allright? Back in 1992 I had a Streamer Bolt-on that I think it also had the screwed cover, but I am not 100% sure...
20.
The truss rod is removable up through 1996 models. Its a simple replacement - the process can be seen in the video here: http://warwick.de/mo...tID=24168&cl=EN Please let me know if there is anything I can assist you with!
Thanks for the offer. I really like the bass and really like the idea of playing a slim wenge neck. I already have to Warwicks (Thumb NT4 and Streamer LX5) and I have not played to date a better sounding combo that the ovangkol neck and wenge fingerboard (the frets are also important) I LOVE IT. Of course that´s my opinion and taste. The problem with this Fortress is that I can not test it or even see it in person. It would be an internet purchase so I would like to be sure that the bass won´t have any mayor issues.
21.
Didn't the early Warwicks have removable trussrods, so if there was a problem you could replace it? I can't remember when they stopped that, but I'd guess it might have been around '96/'97 when they started putting volutes on. So you shouldn't need to worry about a '94.
You are 100% right. According to my Thumb NT´s user kit, they started using the "modern" trussrods and volutes in 1996 for bolt-on basses (1998 for nt models). Before that they were removable. Thanks for clarifying
