  1. thanks for the video! The 5 string bass is a headless. I do not think I have the chance to swap the bridge and nut (there is no nut) in this particular model.
  2. Simply because I do not get along with the 5 strings and I do not have the money right now to buy a decent 4 string? But, as I said in my post, mainly because I am a pshyco and cannot stop doing nonsense stuff This 5 string bass is a custom made, headless, medium scale, left handed bass. Not so easy to sell, you know.
  3. Ok. I know. Very weird question. Let´s say that, for whatever reason (mainly because I am a physco), I want/need to play my 5 string bass with only the BEAD strings. G string is out of the game. Would you just remove the G string and play it like that or would move the 4 remainig strings down the fretboard?.Why? I mean, leave the B string place empty. B string where the E string "should" be, A string where the D string "should" be and D string where the G string was. I think it all comes down to personal preference, style of playing, etc, but I think it would be interesting to know what do you people think about it. All feedback will be aprecciated, although I would like you to stick to the question. Hope this is fun!
  4. I would like to buy a Sterling by Music Man 5 string with rosewood or similar fingerboard. The problem is that I am lefty and there are only maple fingerboard ones for sale nowadays. So the question is: can a maple fingerboard be tinted or painted to make it look like rosewood? Provided that it is not laquered, of course. Thanks for any help
  5. Looking for a lh violín hofner with tinny neck. Must be affordable so made in Germany ones are out for the time being Opinions?
  6. If I can go 95-75-55 that would be great. I would not like to go above 100-80-60
  7. The bass is 34" scale and I tend to prefer light gauge strings so, ¿which is the lightest you would go for this configuration?
  8. I have got a bass finished in satin purple. Also the back of the neck. Although satin finished, the neck still feels a little sticky. I want to give it a little sanding to make it smoother but retaining the colour if possible and I was wondering if that little sanding would take the color off or I will be fine? Thanks
  9. Yes, thanks!. That is pretty much standard except for the Ric which is only 1cm wider at 12th. but that is because is very wide at the nut. 44mm for a 4 string...ouch!
  10. Sometines I wonder why the neck gets wider as it gets to the body and if it wouldn't be better if it had the same width all over. Seems to me that the Hofners could be close to that. Any info would be appreciated

what are the advantages and disadvantages of a flat fingerboard?
  12. horses for courses. If I buy the P5 it will be for the roasted maple, satin finish neck, lol
  13. It may be the first time that I (lefty bass player) have and advantage over right handed players, as there are a couple of lefty P5s available in my hometown
  14. The web has a lot of videos of people loving this bass and/or complaining about the lack of availability but I cannot seem to find a lot of info in Basschat. Any of you own or have tried this bass? Thoughts? Is there a specific forum in here that I have not found?
  15. Gracias Andruca! Yo también soy de Madrid! Me llamo Victor.
  16. Sorry if this is not the right forum but I did not know where to post. I have a 5 string bass that has no pickups because I removed them and put it in another instrument. And then I have a set of J pickups designed for a 4 string bass. I do not want to spend the money on a new set for the 5 string, for the time being, so I was wondering if I can put the 4 string pickups in the 5 string bass should they be wide enough. Can it be done? What would I miss/lose in comparison to the "real thing"? Thanks
  17. That can be an issue if the bass comes fitted with 45-105 for example and you go to 30-90. If the change is not so drastic, I do not think it can cause a problem. Anyways, if you decide to go the light route on a permanent basis, consider changing the nut if needed. I also think it will depend on the bass, as a lot of them come from the factory with the nut cut too high.
  18. What I cannot stand is high tension in my strings thus I go for light gauge. I do not mind the tension that much on the E and A strings but I cannot play high tension D and G. Playing 35-55-75-95 right now
  19. I mostly play at home nowadays and was thinking about putting something between the cabinet and the floor to make me a bit "quieter" to my neighbors. My floor in Spanish is "tarima flotante" meaning, more or less, wood pallets. I have found this in Thomann and was wondering if you have tried it and/or if you may have some other options. Thanks! https://www.thomann.de/es/harley_benton_amp_iso_2.htm
  20. Fixed. At least for the moment. Not pretty at all but it does the job. Capo at the headpiece with a fishing lead weight. The bass is on my lap, no strap, and neck is parallel to the ground. Thanks everybody for your input
  21. Always one more than you already have.
