[/quote] It also depends where the cable from the bass goes, and how long it goes. Active preamps buffer pickups from the chain, meaning there is no interaction between a cable, the first pedal and pickups. That is not the case with passive basses. Try to use a quite long cable, you might hear the difference then. High frequencies will be very likely attenuated.

@DolganoFF Try the schematic I attached. R4+POT_2K5+R5 can't be bigger then Rf(10K), otherwise the inverting gain opamp might be rendered unstable. Gain ratio can be computed like this: (Rf*Rpg)/(Rin*(Rin+Rpg)) where Rpg is the pot resistance to the ground. Rin is R4(1K)+R5(2K)+(2K5-Rpg). However, I am not 100% sure whether it will work in your state variable filter. I am not familiar with it but I would say that it should. EDIT: R4 is not needed. You can also use it to record any audio from a headphone amp. For instance, you can let it record a drum loop from a PC.

@DolganoFF I tend to break my circuits into smaller independent parts. These PC simulation programs go sometimes bonkers. I haven't exactly figured why, I just read that it has to with transients, especially at the beginning of simulations. So just to be on the safe side, I keep logical parts separate. I just make sure that input, output impedances are as they should. Like low output impedance goes into filters, etc. If you really want, at the end, you can put them together before making a pedal by using sub-circuits. So I would put a power supply related stuff to a separate circuit. Those caps can create transients and you don't really need that part for your filter anyway. That gain pot works for sure It is just that I think there are other wirings which might give you some benefits and don't need any other components. Let me think about your case. That taper to the ground wiring works for non-inverting opamp inputs. I agree as well, as you pointed out, it is more than valuable to look outside of guitar pedals diy forums, topics. Sometimes, I just stay puzzled about myths being created around it. Whereas in the reality, guitar circuits are, more often then not, very basic comparing to hi-fi or studio gear. However, it is interesting to see some witty simplifying solutions. Like Rothwell Love Squeeze compressor. P.S.: I am just a hobbyist, so if there is any real engineer, please have mercy

That way the gain can be completely muted. In a real pedal, you need to buffer HIGH, SUM, LOW outputs because any impedance connected to them will change their parameters. Try connecting a resistor there and see what happens.

Hollywoodrox, I googled a bit about the device you have. It seems like some Android core functionality was modified by Samsung and works differently (or it doesn't work at all). That is hard to track down for me because I don't have that device. But if you don't mind installing my application outside of Google Play, I can create a few different versions and send installers to you to try out.

Do you have the stock Android running on it? Is it rooted?

Rebop has chunkier neck (back to front). It balances in a different way because it has a bolt-on neck. Tonewise, Rebop is closer to other active bolt-on basses. Euro has that 'Spector' sound (whatever that means). I would go for the Euro if I could choose.

Hi guys, this might sound a bit odd but any idea how to record a purring cat? I looked up that the purr frequency varies between 18-28Hz, depending on a cat. What microphone could pick it up? Thanks

Hi Hector. Thanks for feedback. I didn't realise this might be an issue. Android "restarts" a foreground application when a screen rotates, hence losing the stats. I will fix it today. I have the same phone but I've turned off automatic rotation because it just bugs me But I will turn it back on for testing.
