1.
Hello I am v-e-r-y slowly tabbing out a copy of the notation i have for going underground. I know the notes on a stave or whatever it's called for bass clef - do i assume that if certain lines of the stave have sharps on (#), all the notes on the line are played sharp and it's possible that some of the lines won't be sharp at all?
nnemonics help here with sharps and key signatures , a piece with 4 sharps is always F sharp , C sharp , G sharp and D sharp to help read the key signature (the sharpened notes) you can use Fat Cats Go Down Alleys Eating Bread for flats you can use Battle Ends And Down Goes Charleys Father little thing i picked up playing trumpet =) u can read bass cleff as treble clef but an E in trebble clef would be a G in bass clef
 2.
i bet that was fun there is just something thats right about chainsaws. what metal bands do you like? there is a growing community of us metal heads in these waters. \m/ andrew
well , i started off at like 3 years old going to sleep listening to motorhead - that explains a few things now i'm listening to any kind of metal , i love the whole scaly approach it has and its much more fun than playing root notes when u can just go crazy. I like pantera , metallica ( but only in the early albums , now they're too mainstream ) , disturbed , cannibal corpse , necrophagists , iron maiden , led zepplin , motorhead , rage against the machine and dream theatre. Those ones are probably my favourites , they all have good technical riffs on bass. complexity is good =)
 3.
played a gig at a sailing club last night little lad, probably about 12 maybe - "is that what flea plays?" (referring to my stingray) "yeah" says I, "amongst others. Do you play? Do you want to have a go?" "what really?" he says all excited now I can't slap for toffee but this lad put my playing to shame so yeah, i imagine a stingray is probably quite good for slapping, especially if you've got 12 year old's sized hands!
stringray! is that the new one with the extra pickup? i saw one of those and i really loved it - would the 5 string version have the same gap between each string?
 4.
It depends on what 6 string you're playing. Some budget sixes have a neck more suitable for a five so string spacing can be tight (as tight as 16mm at the bridge). If you're into slapping and popping, you'll find it far easier on a bass with more generous spacing 18 - 19mm. On a six, this makes for quite a wide neck which can be a stretch for someone with small hands.
ah nice , cheers - i play an edge Q6 (Dean) , its not designed for slapping but i do anyhow becuase i love the sound , theres 13mm gap between each
 5.
i know one! look at Jeff Schmidt - he plays 6 string , although hes left handed , he plays right with the high C at the top. His technique is one in a million , you should really look him up on myspace or youtube
oh and one more , steve bailey - plays 6 string fretless , HIS HANDS ARE HUGE! is u look for "a chic from corea" or something like that hes playing bass with victor wooten , its an old video but steve bailey is a gr8 6 string bassist
 6.
ok guys, ive just started with my new six string bass and i cant really find many six string bassists to inspire me, so far ive got the dream theater (john myung) songs and im currently work on them i also write alot of my own stuff so some solo artists are quite handy but the noticed ones are usually sick like adam nitti lol i have absoultly huge hands so i can reach the C string with ease so dont worry about that do you guys know any fairly good six string bassists, (in a band or solo artists) that are good to check out for learning material??? and im not particularly bothered about what type of music the pay as ong as its fairly busy and not really boring to play! cheers guys x
i know one! look at Jeff Schmidt - he plays 6 string , although hes left handed , he plays right with the high C at the top. 7. i have a 6 string bass , its hard to slap because there is no gap to slap ive heard alembic , music man and warwick are good , any suggestions?
 8. if you play metal - get a Dean Edge Q6 , its a good 6 string at £500 odd. Its a very powerful bass though , its destroyed my ashdown 180combo. If your amp has good quality cones , thats the best one i think ... unless ur getting somethhing crazy
 9. omg that guitar battle , i saw that ! victor wooten double thumbs , that is clever , ive tried it and also i found this thing - you no how he goes thumb , thumb , and then pops with all 4 fingers , u can down strum with each finger an then double slap , kinda like sweap slapping , good fun , if u can do it , its a gr8 party piece
 10. Hi , im chris and ive been playing bass for 3 or 4 years now. I started off playing metal music and i really enjoyed it because i love playing complex bass lines ( who doesn't? ). My bass teacher recommended me for grade 8 bass which ill be taking in november/december time. He told me about solo bassists such as Jeff Schmidt, Victor Wooten and Jaco Pastorius. I was amazed at their talent and im trying to mimic their styles but getting nowhere. ill get there eventually. Right now im playing a Dean Edge Q6 bass. Its really powerful and the preamp is incredible. The EMG-HZs really do make the bass sound huge. I blew my ashown 180 combo. The cone just disintergrated, im sure of it. I took a chainsaw to it and stole the head from it and use that now with my hartke 410 tp. The cones on that are alluminium so they wont break (hopefully). I want another 410tp to make a fullstack.
 11. Well , Levys gig bags are good but if they're not in the Uk i recommend getting a Rockbag - they're made by warwick , or you could get a "kaces" bag. my guitars been inside one and ive thrown it about , the padding is great. only bout £20
