    *TRADED* Musicman Bongo 5 HH

    After a brief love affair with this I've decided I prefer my Paulman after all so I have to move it on. It's a Musicman Bongo 5 HH in lovely desert gold finish. It's got a bit of damage which I've tried to show in the pictures: there is an approximately 1.5 inch chip in the lacquer above the bridge end strap button (I got it in this condition, I assume it was dropped) and a phone number lightly scratched into the lacquer towards the bottom of the pickguard. The chip gets covered by the strap when playing so no one in the audience will notice that and the phone number is so faint that I didn't notice it for a couple of weeks and couldn't get a good photo of it. The Musicman fitted hard case is included, this has 'Macs Music' painted on it. Finally, one of the original strap buttons fell out and I can't remember the safe place I put it so I'll include a set of brand new Dunlop Dual Design straplocks.

    Enough of the bad bits, the bass is well set up and plays really nicely, looks stunning and sounds huge. The preamps in these things really are monstrous!

    Guts are nice and simple, unscrew the back and the pcb pops out, then you can see the battery wires coming through next to the switch.

    I had to replace both of the sockets as I borrowed the nuts for something else so it might have come detached from the input while the sockets were loose.

    The black wire from the battery on my odb-3 has detached itself and I can't see where it goes. If anyone who owns one has a minute could you pop it open and let me know?

    Hard case for a big bass

    I'm off on tour tomorrow and so earlier today I tried to get a hard case for my Paulman 5 string but it turns out it won't fit in any of the three Gator or Hiscox cases available in my local shop. I also tried a Black Rat basic at PMT a while ago which didn't fit but the guy thought their other model (which was out of stock) might do the job but I haven't been able to get there to test one out.

    The neck of the bass is quite wide and doesn't fit in some neck pockets and the body is much deeper than the average bass which means either the lid won't shut or the neck is raised from the cushion and is vulnerable in the cases the neck does fit in. The body is also quite large and doesn't fit in another no brand case I have.

    All in all it's very awkward and I could really do with a hard case ASAP as my precious bass is going in the back of a van for a month! Anyone got any suggestions for an off the shelf one that might fit? Just found the SKB Bass Safe but can only see that on Gear4Music and DV247 with longish delivery times which suggests it's not in stock so no chance to try out.

    I saw Fairport last night with Peggy doing his thang as only Peggy does. Somehow I've never seen Fairport live before, was a great gig.

    In other news, the new Albion Band album is now available from www.thealbionband.com and we are doing a massive UK tour from 1st March - 3rd April, would be great to have some Basschatters come along!

    Mazeti 6 string fretless

    My mate is selling his Mazeti 6 string fretless, I played it a while ago and it's a potentially bargainous bass for someone. It's currently on £84 with 18 hours left, a good shout for anyone thinking of getting a fretless 6 to try out. If I wasn't getting a custom soon I'd be bidding but I'm going to be restrained for once!
