So my Rickenbacker arrived and i started playing with it right away to get a feel from its neck and all that. feels great, its heavy but lighter than i was expecting. as expected there are 2 pieces missing but that are nothing more than cosmetic i believe, then i started noticing stuff on it... ok its in mint condition but i never saw (not that ive seen many) a bridge like that on the Rickenbacker and then i started looking for its serial number and i cant find it anywhere... is my Rick a fake?

I live in a small island where all you can find is Marshal, Roland and and occasionally ENGL... and bass combos are really hard to come by here with decent power, i generally stop seeing combos at 60w... except for Roland, but they are way to expensive for me

im looking at getting this mainly due to its price and power but i wanted to know more about it since the only video i find is of a review done by the store that sell them... December 2008 issue of Guitar & Bass featured it as one of the year's best bass amps, according to the store's website here are the specs:
Power Rating 150W RMS 4 Ohms Speaker 15" 4 Ohms Controls Gain, Master ,Bright,Boost EQ Controls 3 band EQ (Bass, Mid, Treble); 7 band graphic EQ (50Hz/120Hz/400Hz/500Hz/800Hz/4.5KHz/10KHz) Built in compressor Compressor LED indicator Bass guitar Input 1/4"Jack Active / Passive bass guitar input switch Auxilliary Input Phono L/R Effects Loop Send and return 1/4"Jack Preamp Output 1/4"Jack Amp Input 1/4"Jack Headphone Output 1/4" Jack Line Out 1/4" Jack Weight 30kg Dimensions 622mm (W) 420mm (D) 653mm (H)
anyone has any experience with it?
Awesome man! I'm glad you've found something! Did you get it for your 400 Euro budget? Let us know what it's like.
i got it from a friend of my mom who used to be a bass player but developed carpel tunnel, he has a Fender Precision that was his 1st bass back in the 70's and the Rick and he just asked how much i was going to spend on a bass and amp and i told him that i was trying to get a Ibanez GSR200 thats costs around 250 so his words were "dont get that rubbish, i'll give you mine for the 250, i never used it in 20 years" so i actually gonna get a Rick for 250€ ^_^
The movement should come from your elbow and forearm rather than wrist or fingers.
i do believe that this will cause alot of strain in the arm leading to ending the song in pain

no idea how its called in english but in portuguese its "trecenas" or "tricenas" and its done with a pick. i believe thats the way you will get more speed, that or using more fingers on the right hand

Thats why i have bought my bass's withou never tried them before... yeah it sucks for a musician to leave here. ahahah
maybe if you have a preferred type of sound and neck ppl here can help you more, i know they helped me ^^

hi guys, as you know im starting off and to improve i searched the internet for lessons, free ones mostly. i came across a few but some say the exact opposite of others, specially on the way to attack the strings so i was wondering what are the best free lessons for bass if there is a thing as a good free bass lesson thanks
Whatever you decide upon, if you see something here on Basschat, sending it abroad is not too bad. It cost me approx £45 to send a bass worth £300, including insurance, to Greece, via Parcel2Go, so providing the seller is willing to do that, you`ll still end up with a good deal. Theres a really good Yamaha BB1100s on here for sale at the moment, for £250. P/J pickup, passive/active mode. Great bass, and a great price (I bought one new in 1987 and paid £400 for it).
well, i tried to buy a peavey t100 here at 80 pounds and with transport it went up to 200... so not really that easy for us :\
