1.
What did the old fella say when he was informed it wasn't a Real ricky??
He told me to hold on to it while he contacts the store where he bought it, the store is in business and its the same owner according to him
 2. not really, thats why i was using the camera to record it
 3.
You'd end up paying a hell of a lot more for a Fender.
thats why i never said i wanted a Fender
 4.
That is a strange reason to doubt it lol. So do you like how this plays and sounds more or less than the others you have tried?
plays way better then the Maison, no doubt about it, not as good as the Fender. soundwise again better then the Maison but closer to it then to the Fender, well at least to my taste as far as looks go, this wins by a mile i did try to capture its sound earlier for you guys to hear it by my camera fails to capture the amps sound for some reason O.o
 5. i played a Maison, single pickup and a Fender Jazz Bass, also single but with metal cover like this. yes, ive shown it to others, i tought i had a Rick, of course the 1st thing i did was show it off! most think its the real thing, only one guy doubt it because of the cream pickups (the owner of the Jazz Bass)
 6.
If you do sell it then what is your budget for your next bass? (do you own another bass allready btw) And sounds like alot of people are interested in it, that should be telling you something.
if he takes it back it will be around 400€ and no, i dont own another bass, been playing with what friends lend me, some even have rust
 7.
Gotta be honest buddy, Ric or not that bass will eat both those other basses you've mentioned for breakfast.
well, the bridge pickup i can hardly hear on its own, i only notice it when its with the neck ones so i dunno about that... and not knowing what it actually is (Bassassin isnt sure) we really cant say anything about its potential... is it a Gehrson? is it an Aztec? is it Ibanez like the Rickenbacker guy said? nobody is sure...
 8. i need a bass to play and i dont want to take this to rehearsal and get a scratch on it and then the guy saying he wont take it back, so it must go so that i can fund another bass... maybe a GSR200 or a RBX 374
 9. and bass being returned on saturday...
 10. http://basschat.co.uk/index.php?showtopic=126323 me so slow...
 11. ive been reading several forums and i come across this word alot so im trying to figure out what it really is... is he a carpenter that specializes in basses? a bass handyman? a bass maker? thanks
 12.
I should probably stay out of this, but Tomb has posted elsewhere in the last few days that he's 14 years old. A lot of the responses he's getting here are treating him (understandably) as an adult. There's a bit of a mis-match. Tomb, my own son is 15. I recently bought him a 1970's Maya Precision bass and he's delighted with it. It cost about the same as your RickenFaker. It's not a "real" Precision because it's not a Fender ... doesn't matter, it's a great bass. If I could have bought him a 1973 Fender Precision for £200 then believe me, I would have. If I could have had it delivered by Angelina Jolie in a bikini then I would probably have arranged that too. Enjoy what you have.
if i knew from the start it was a faker i would have been happy with it, like i said, im not unhappy with the bass itself but more with the situation and thats making me uncomfortable with the bass. like having a girlfriend and she has a twin sister and you ending up having sex with the sister... she looks the same but once you notice its not the girlfriend you get all kind of weird feelings about my tattoo, you can get tattooed in Portugal at 13 as long as the parent is there and permits it. about my english, my great grandfather on my mothers side is english and ive been attending english class since i was 6 in OTL, thats like and extra curricular activity that would translate into Free Time Ocupation
 13. sounds good, looks good, feels good but its like expecting a Lamborghini and getting an Audi... engine is the same but its not a Lambo... in this case it looks the same, it might even sound better then the actual Rick (hypothetically) but its not a Rick
 14. i guess you really are the rickclopedia Bassassin
 15.
Fair do's and that's a very progressive mum you have there - I wouldn't let my oldest son get his ear pierced until he was 18! You must be just about the youngest member of BC - good on you but makes me feel ancient, lol!
my mom's 36 and my grandmother is 55 so my grandmother passed to us the spirit of woodstock and we are very open with each other. oh, and you not ancient, your Vintage
 16.
Are you sure you're 14? You look awfully hairy and tatto'd for. 14 year old!
nope, im still 13, will be 14 in august. tattoo was my 13th birthday gift from my mother
 17. i look weird http://cgi.ebay.com/1997-ALEMBIC-EPIC-4-ST...=item20b7926d96
 18.
regardless of it being a steal or a bargain..Its still a let down being he thought he was getting the deal of the year only to find out its a fake... What you going to do now Tomb?
no idea... i like the feel of it, i like the weight, i like how thin it is and how it looks, makes me feel all Cliff Burton/Lemmy like, but still its not the real thing. was it a bairgain if it was the real thing? hell yes it was, but again it was a 70 year old man selling it to me after being friends of my family for over 40 years, damn he held me in his arms when i was born... so yes, i would believe that we would pass on a Rickenbacker to me since none of his children ever liked music now i just feel like crap and have no idea what to do or think...
 19.
Ibanez? Interesting i wouldnt have thought it was an Ibby but im certainly no expert. An old Ibby Rickenfaker can be a very nice bass to own.
Still not a Rickenbacker...
 20. and the official saying is:
Richard Cannata to me show details 20:56 (6 minutes ago) Hi Paul, That bass is a fake. To me it looks like an old Ibanez copy. Regards, Richard Cannata Director of Customer Service 714.545.5574 Extension 233 7:00AM - 3:30PM PST Rickenbacker International Corporation 3895 S. Main St, Santa Ana, CA 92707
21. the 4004 does have a similar bridge... im gonna call the guy tomorrow morning...
 22.
Hi - sorry to confirm that the bass is not a Rickenbacker. I'm not 100% sure what it is but the twin-trussrod adjusters are the same as those used on Italian-made Ghersons, although the Ghersons I have seen have different tuners and a more Rickenbacker-styled bridge. They also had the more common triangle inlays so this is possibly a different model from the same range. An interesting & unusual Faker, but not a real Rick, I'm afraid. Jon. Edit - just checked your other thread & if you got that for €250, you should still be well pleased, that's a steal for any Faker!
on the bridge pickups it says SHADOW, dunno if thats any help to figure out what it is
 23.
It's a very Fendery Ric, kind of a Precisionbacker. SN should be on the jack plate Hope it works out for you
hummm the previous owned does have a precision maybe we interchanged some parts? i dont know anymore :\
 24. bought it from a family friend
 25. seen a site where they show a few possible places for it but i cant find in any of those places, this bass is over 20 years old and i dont know if the plate got changed or not. the entire bass is mint not a single scratch in it. i bought it from a person that has been a friend of my family for around 40 years and was a professional musician for more than that, i trust him alot, but still doubts arise after having a closer look at it :\
