I suppose strictly speaking this isn't a thread started with a specific or group of basses in mind so I hope i've got this in the right area! If it needs to be moved please do! We all spend far too long browsing the latest basses/amps/gear and a lot of us are completely dedicated to perfecting our craft. Whether your just starting on the bass or your a veteran I don't think there is any argument that YouTube has became a great resource for bass players. I have always found home videos of bassist inspiring, whether its been great playing, a great song, or great tone! I wanted to start a thread to give our fellow bassists young and old, a chance to show off their playing/basses/amps/tones etc, After all thats why we are all here ey? So if you want to show off your playing, basses or gear, post a video! To kick things off, here is mine ... A fretted attempt at Jaco's Continuum. Played on my Warwick Fortress One '94 (Recently purchased from Evil Undead). Played through a Little Mark II head and Epifani PS210 cab! Ok, so it isn't brilliant playing. But I'm showing off!

I play my 7 year old beaten up Squier Affinity Jazz at Gigs. It has American Fender Pickups and SI circuitry with a BAII bridge. Last week at a gig, a musician came up to me and asked if it was an American Fender I was playing. I said Essentially yes but I payed £250 for it and it says squier on. Just proves you don't need to spend thousands to get what your after!

For sale is my Fender MIM Jazz Bass in Arctic White. All hardware is in good nick, nice medium set action. I upgraded the Pickups to some Wilkinson Pickups at the cost of £66. I will include the original pickups in the sale. I also fully shielded the cavities for nice and quiet playing! The pots where also a bit noisy so I replaced them and rewired. Currently strung with flat wound strings but there are some old round wound ones in the case also if thats what you prefer! Serial number is: MZ5163622. This dates the bass 05/06. There are small bits of cosmetic damage to the bass. There is a chip in the paint next to the Neck Cavity. A small scrape on the back of the neck (Around the 6th fret). This doesn't interfere with the operation of the bass at all. A final couple of scratches on the bottom of the bass and on the pickgaurd. There are other small marks but they can't be seen without detailed inspection, Not worth worrying about. Bass comes with a limited addition protection racket hard case. Only a few of these have been made in the UK! Nice interior covered in Sheeps wool. I am willing to ship the bass, I might need a little special knowledge on the best couriers and best ways to package etc. Pick up is welcomed form Huddersfield. Given the new pickups, hardcase and damage I would like £260 + p&p SOLD

http://www.thomann.de/gb/warwick_rb_corvet...atsatin2010.htm I haven't got the eye for detail that some of you might have so I thought I would post this. Are these basses Rock basses? The Item says RB but I don't see the rockbass name on the head stock. Seems dear for RB but cheap for a Warwick so I'm not sure!
Just feeling around for now but .... Got a 4 ohm Epifini PS 2x10. Lovely cab, haven't had it for long. I recently down sized to it and have voices in the back of my head asking to upsize again. Was traded with fellow basschatter Garethox. FS is £275. Still have the warranty on this. FT I'm looking for 8ohm 2x10 or similar. Looking at the same Epifini PS210, UL210, Aguilar DB210, GS210, TC RS210 and equivalents ... Depending on offers, cash either way. Can get photos up if requested, currently dont own a working camera! Pick up from Huddersfield, could look into couriers. Cheers, Dave
Bump for updated FT

Another point I've came across is that putting a attentuator in series will means (give or take) 50% of the power will make it to the cab and 50% will be dissipated as heat from the dummy load. Basically the moral of the story is get 8 ohm cabs!
I didnt think this would make much of a difference, or does it? I'm probably well out of my depth here, but if its based on running say a 500W amp at 4ohms into a single cab, you (roughly) half the power by running at 8ohms (300W). You'd lose around 3db than you'd have running a single cab at 4ohms (assuming your cab is up to it of course). If then you add a second cab, each would recieve half the power of the 8 ohm power output (300w), so 150W per cab. .....this is where I'm skethchy now... ....running two cabs moves more air, and reinforces some of the lows, and adds a speaker more at ear level, but I thought it only amounted to around 3db anyway...??? So the net gain isn't worth running 2 cabs in this senario, as you're better off running a single speaker at full power (again, assuming the cab is up to it....) Is this right, or am I full of .....(Insert your preferred word here).
What about adding a second cab in parallel. would that give a total z of 4 ohms with 250 watts into each? Don't worry, I think I have wondered out of my depth too!

My amp is 500 Watts at 4ohms and 300 at 8. I own 1 4ohm 2x10 400 watt cab at 4ohms. My initial idea was by changing the 4ohm cab into 8 ohm I could run 1 cab at 300watts and 2 at 500. This would also mean there is no chance of overpowering either of my cabs. If I was to run in series I would I still be putting 500 watts through a 400w max cab? Does this make sense or am I talking rubbish?

But with an attenuator in line with each speaker bringing the over all impedance of each 4ohm cab to 8ohms, this would = 4 ohms total?
-
I've had an idea, I'm hoping this i a known idea and already exists! Do Amp Attenuators exists? for example taking the out put of a bass head into a 4 ohm dummy load/attenuator then into a 4 ohm cab giving a total of 8ohm impedance? Obviously this could be very beneficial for running a 4ohm min head into 2 4ohm cabs? Any thoughts?
