I love my meatsmoke preamp! I run it into the passive input on the SWR 750x, to give me 3 channels effectively. I wouldn't have thought to put it in front of a tube amp though.
    Enjoy!

Yeah, like the full Meatsmoke is a valve power section, so I figured I'd like to do that. Ben reckons it'll sound great, so that's good to know.

I'll regularly put it into the power section of my Ampeg PF500 as well, when I can't be bothered lugging all the big amps around ;)

Historically I've never been attracted to a natural finish, but that, with binding, blocks and maple looks mighty fine indeed.
I would be very tempted to have a looksee if you were a bit closer as I'm considering a backup 5'er.
Middlesbrough ain't round the corner unfortunately :-(

Lets get a gig swap sorted, I will bring the bass along ;)

My comment was meant to be taken with a pinch of salt. Sorry buddy. All I was saying was that we have tried to explain the situation as best we can. We are totally aware of the problems and are trying our best to remedy them.

It's definitely your actions from here on in that will make or break the businesses standing on this site at least.

I'd put a pinch less salt into your responses if I'm honest.

I empathise with the problems that have caused this, and hope that everything family wise gets to be settled and well.

I look forward to hopefully hearing some happy reviews, wait times aside, once people orders start being fulfilled.

    Told you it was possible

Haha, yeah, basically instead of having both Hi and Lo instrument input, the one I don't use will now be direct to the power section.

Glad we got that tiny powering hiccup sorted! :)

Yeah man, thanks very much again for all your help, the Diago seems to be doing the business so far, it's only been one practice though, but they all worked, and more importantly no smoke!

  5. Having had 2 power supplies blow on me (with one emitting smoke!!) my pedalboard is now up and running, all thanks to advice and info from out lovely Shep! Cheers man.

I'm in the process of adding the last couple of pedals and then I will add an updated pic.

While my main board was out of action, Swanflight did me a great deal on a smaller board to see me through gigs in the meantime, and once my full board is sorted, that will become the pedalboard for my Verellen Meatsmoke Pre-amp that is on order.

I have popped my amp in to Matamp, and Hayden is making an input for me to skip the GT200 pre, and just use the valve power section, so I will have a nice big choice of Matamp GT200, or 2 channels of Verellen Meatsmoke :D

Come on then Ste, tell us all how it went! Saw the pics by the way, looks a cool venue, and you lot pull off a decent impression of stylish people too! ;)

  8. Hahaha, it seemed to be an issue with space and placement on the MK1 where it wasn't gonna be in a noisy place... I just believed him :D but Hayden is gonna look at it hopefully, so fingers are crossed.

I have a preamp on the way and I wanna give it the full tubey power goodness it deserves!

  9. I got the amplitube orange bundle, and I do like their AD200 on there, and have been using it a few times at practice through the ampeg PF500 as a power amp, sounds good, but somehow doesn't seem to go as loud as just using the amp...

(I noticed you head was in Matamp when I popped over on tues, mines in at the mo, I wanna see if I can get an input added so that I can put other preamps into it to use the valve power section, but jeff doesn't think it's likely to be do-able I don't think :( )

  10. As I have just received my COG Effects custom Grand Tarkin, but not yet had chance to try it out, I had better sing the praises of my other go to muff pedal before I have to start comparing and choosing!

For the last month or so I have been using an Abominable Electronics Hail Satan Muff, and I can't sing it's praises highly enough!!

As the builder has recently given up his day job to focus on his pedal business, I just wanted to mention it on here, as I think Abominable Electronics are going to be one to watch, and as with all new businesses, I'm sure would appreciate me spreading the word! I've not been inclined to write a review of sorts before, mainly just read them on here :)

    So the pedal -

It sounds huge and blows every muff I have used on bass previously out of the water!

I originally heard about it on a Facebook group, and was drawn to it purely on its looks, and for the price, thought I would give it a go. I was lucky enough for it to get through customs unnoticed, so all in cost me about £75 delivered at the time.

Every pedal is hand made and screen printed by Patrick, who is as far as I know the sole person behind Abominable Electronics. I have #13 of this pedal, and have an early version of the art before it had a minor change.

Here it is next to my Verellen Big Spider -

Patrick also offers the same pedal in a "Hail Yeti" version, for those people who don't like any mention of Satan, which surprisingly seems to be quite a few, Americans at least...

Patrick himself is a bass player, so the pedal is pretty much made with the sound of a bass through it as a big consideration.

Patrick was, and is, a total pleasure to deal with, and I have since stayed in touch with him and plan to order more pedals from him.

    The official site states -

"The Abominable "Hail Satan" muff is a big muff clone built to the specs of the infamous "Creamy Dreamer" modded pedals that some had thought were used on Smashing Pumpkins Siamese Dream because of the similar tones but with our own twist.

In addition to the normal Volume, Tone, and Sustain controls, we've added an additional control for the Mids. This allows you to add a much fuller sound to the tone of the pedal.

Also, we've added a second footswitch that when engaged will switch from the stock 1n914 diodes to a louder and crunchier sounding 3mm Red LED diodes in the distortion clipping. Not only does this put the effect into full on "hail satan mode" audibly, but the eyes of the goat head will also light up red with the actual LEDs that are in the circuit. As the intensity of your playing increases the eyes will light up to match.

The pedal is built using mostly carbon resistors and ceramic capacitors to give it as raw of a feeling as possible. The effect is true bypass and hand wired for a superb sound.

The enclosure itself is painted and hand-destroyed / relic'd before it has a 3-color screen printed graphic and a thin clear coat applied on top. Each pedal looks slightly different than the next due to this completely hands on process making each one it's own work of art. Please don't expect the final product to be immaculately painted / finished; we take pride in destroying the enclosures to give them their own special look."

So except for the fact I've never made a video or pedal demo before, there's not much more I can say, but it is genuinely a top class muff for bass. If I was to change anything, for me personally, I would add a clean blend in there to make it more versatile.

Go have a look at this and other pedals at the site -

    Cheers!
