Hi Chris,
As has been mentioned previously you cant go wrong with the older Trace gear. I've been playing through Trace stuff since buying my first rig in '86 (MKV AH150 with GP11 pre & MKV 1048 cab) and have never looked back.
I recently bought a really nice MKV AH250 from a fellow basschatter and have aquired a couple of 1518 cabs so I basically have 2 Trace rigs now: AH150 with 1518 cab and AH250 with a 1518 & 1048 on top!
As my missus continually points out, there's absolutely no need for both rigs so, very reluctantly, the AH150 and one of the 15" cabs have to go. (I'll eventually get round to placing an ad in the For Sale section at some point I'm sure!)
It's a shameless plug I know but here's your chance to own a classic TE rig at a very reasonable price
PM me if interested -
Roly Wynne from Ozric Tentacles played some really outstanding fretless parts and Brad Houser from Edie Brickell & New Bohemians is well worth a mention.

+1 for OBBM.
Bought a couple of speaker cables from him a month or so ago.
Immense quality gear at amazing prices. -
Bought Grahame's Fretless Stagg as a little side project
Easy transaction with great comms
Deal with him in complete confidence
Cheers Grahame -
Behold the monstrosity that was My First Bass!
Old man bought it off a friend for me in 1982/3. It was strung with four different strings (including one blue nylon thing) and played like sh*te!
I ended up painting it black with some Dulux gloss. -
All my attachments were well under the recommended 500kb but I've deleted a few that were no longer relevant.
"Mony a mickle maks a muckle" as my granny used to say! -
Just took delivery of Seni's Dunlop 105Q Bass Wah.
Really nice price for a really nice pedal from a really nice bloke. Deal with him in confidence! -

Touché -
Not much of a MM fan but I agree with Moos3h; that IS lovely! The only thing ruining it for me is that dreadful clear PG.
First thing I'd do if I won the bass would be to remove said PG and set fire to it so no-one else could defile such a nice looking instrument with it!
PS - Jazz Bass is really nice as well. I take it this person likes their basses to look natural then? -
The Series 6 had the GP12 with the one red EQ slider specifically for 5 string basses, didn't it?
Never had a chance to try one of those models although I seem to recall they got rave reviews at the time -
I forgot about the Mk V 1518 cab...
...I was offered an obscene amount of money for it and away it went
I tried to get rid of one of my 1518's on here as spares/repair (voice coil had finally given up the ghost after 20odd years) and couldn't shift it for love nor money!
I decided to keep it and now have a Fane Axiom 15-300B on order from Blue Aran. -
I'm still using the old TE MKV stuff.
I have a MKV AH150 which I've owned since 1986 (bought together with a 1048) and as Delberthot says it's an absolute cracking head. I totally refuse to part with it even though I recently purchased a MKV AH250 from a fellow BC'er.
I just love the old Trace stuff; built like tanks and the sound is second to none. I currently own the two MKV heads along with two MKV 1518's and a MKV 1048 and I can only see me adding to the gear I have.
And yes, Chris Thorneybank is your man for all things Trace! -
Bought a neck plate & screws for a wee project I have going.
Great communications from start to finish making this a perfect transaction.
Deal with Mel in confidence cos she's a top lass! -
Is it ok to dislike them both equally?
+ 1
Although if I HAD to pick one on pain of death it would have to be the blue one.
IMHO they're both dreadful but the red one is waaaaaay worse. Again, MHO. Each to their own etc! -
