Bump for a trade.....Quality fretless need for a new band project.
How about a double neck?
 2. Glad it worked out. Your luthier has done an excellent job, can't wait to have a proper play on it!
 3.
Ah, hadn't noticed the link was already there, apologies to all...
Thanks for the plug Gareth

 5. It was me - there is a Delbert on the forum but it was myself who was looking for one. Oops! I p.m.'d the wrong Delbert
 6.
I bought this in the mid eighties. According to Washburn there were only six brought into U.K. Anyone else got one?
Now up for adoption, sale or trade
 7. And another midi
 8.
Mid 1980's Washburn Bantam needs new home. Single coil pick ups (Riverhead, I think) to look like emg's. Quite a modern, bright sound. Weightwise not too bad with the right strap. I was told by Washburn that only 6 of these were imported to U.K. R.R.P. was just over £1100 Open to offers or trades for old Jazz or P bass, Gibsons (incl guitars) uprights, eub's etc or Bose L1 pa, or w.h.y.? Or maybe a headless Status, never tried one!
Forgot to say it's passive with jazz bass type controls and takes either double ball ended or regular strings
 9.
Give Delbert a shout, he was looking for something similar not so long ago
Will do cheers

 11.
I've not tried one but I've heard one played, they sound pretty good. There's a fair few bassists who use them: Esparanza Spalding and Michael Formanek use them live quite often.
Cheers Gnasher, I'll Czech them out

 14. Maybe one of these would do the job, it's not neck heavy due to being headless. Weighs about 11.5lbs
 15.
Looks identical to my little german flatback - think the major is a bit over with his estimate - mine is valued at aroun 7 or 8k with lots of decent work having been done on it by my man in Greenwich. Mine is from around 1890 and plays like a dream - very gutsy little thing... Alex
Have you got any pics to compare? cheers Keith
 16.
hey keith, i think you should try to take them to a dealer, perhaps have a bit of work done and sell them on....in which case you can sell me the red one ;-)
I'm enjoying playing the red bass now I've found a pick up that suits it.
 17.
i don't usually come on this forum (ahem) but that is a very nice bass. Does the flat back affect the way you hold it whilst you're playing much?
No, the back shape doesn't make any difference to holding the instrument, the body shape and depth can.
 18. 19.
hey keith, great looking bass, its not one of the ones i played is it? i dont remember the flat back looking like that?...cheers Geoff
Hi Geoff, yes, you played this one when you and Paul came over to my place
 20. I've an old flat back believed to be about 130 -150 years old there's no makers label or date visible. I'm thinking of selling or trading but not sure of it's real value. It's well worn but very playable. There is a repairers label (George Stoppani) dated 1989. According to the previous owner the work cost several hundred pounds http://www.stoppani.co.uk/ Last year I saw a similar bass (restored) in a posh shop in Edinburgh for £10,000 The closest I can find on the net is http://www.contrabass.co.uk/2759.htm (which has had the neck replaced) Any help appreciated. 24. I'd look out for a used Yamaha SLB100, it's the closest you'll get to a 3/4 acoustic feel wise, you can practise without annoying the neighbours, and you can take it on a bus. You might not like the onboard sound but you can easily attach a pick of your choice to the adjustable bridge. The Slb200 is a lighter weight option and packs into a smaller gig bag.
