1. I had never heard of Pete Cornish before this thread so cant comment on the quality, but if the prices are that much more than OBBM's gear then I find it hard to believe the quality reflects such an inflated price. I swapped out all my gigging cables (head to cab, bass to tuner and tuner to amp) to OBBM's and to be honest I cant hear the difference. What I gain in piece of mind though is what makes me glad I did. The speaker cable alone could probably tow one of the cars home if it broke down at a gig!
2.
If you did not accept the refund, i think it is legally yours via the contract
With paypal you just click refund and the money goes straight back to the seller. Dont get an option to accept it
3. I have only recently started singing backing vocals but am really enjoying the 4 tunes that I do. She bangs the drums has a decent wee harmony at the end of each line of the chorus and I love it. Have been told I go a bit Manc when doing so though haha!
4. Its about time. I have been waiting for this for about 2 years. I was beginning to think it would never happen.
5. Very nice example of a tidy Thunder there mate. GL with the sale but I already have a Thunder II that gets ignored so couldnt justify another! haha
6.
I just think there should be a 'Transcription and Tablature' subforum to keep this one from getting cluttered up by requests.
If there was a sub forum with transcription and tabs then there's a chance the RIAA/PRS would try and shut the site down. All for the sake of someone just not reading a thread that normally if not always is clearly stated in the thread title. Kinda selfish IMHO.
7.
Respectfully, this is why I kinda dissagree.. me: "but the pub WILL mind that we're under 18 then?" her: "well, if they find out they'll be mad. THEY'VE HAD A GO AT ME BEFORE FOR HAVING UNDER 18 BANDS PLAY, THEY'VE EVEN KICKED ONE BAND OUT FOR BEING UNDER 18 BEFORE". funnily enough, when a different mate found out where we were playing he was suprised because he always thought that pub was strict on 18+ only, but i didn't really think anything of it. her: "anyway, like i said, JUST GO IN THE BACK AND KEEP A LOW PROFILE, you should be ok" These statements are absurd!! Not evil, just really incompetent, thoughtless, and self centered. So after she did find out they were underage, knowing she has had this problem before she still insisted on putting everyone at risk. Yes people do share gear but her telling them they HAD to bring a drum set for everyone to use is a bit more than just sharing gear. This is more like forced borrowing. Why couldn't someone else bring drums for everyone to use? However, I do agree that she is in need of some guidance. Yes, hopefully she learns from this. I admire your compassion for her Dave! You are a good guy trying to stand up for someone being put down by all of us! Craig
Thats the kicker for me. She knew from past PERSONAL experience about the venues age policy. That should have been one of the very first questions to ask a potential band. She either chose to ignore the risk or was simply blinkered by the thought of getting someone to provide drums.
8. An option I havent heard yet could be: Take a buttload of speed then get fired and start a Motorhead tribute band. Problem solved.
9.
My NS-2 does a superb job of stopping the squealy Hendrix-esque feedback that my Sansamp GT-2 producs with the drive cranked.
I stand corrected I could always create feedback in my old loop with my NS-2 on. Always thought thats not what the pedal did. Please ignore my poor advice
10. Can you clarify what you mean by feedback? As far as I know a noise gate/suppressor does not remove squealy feedback. It merely cancels out hum and hiss from your signal chain. You may be trying to use the wrong tool to get rid of feedback. Roll the gain/OD/FUZZ back and see if the feedback is reduced.
11. Just to add, you are right to go with the noise gate. A noise suppressor does the same thing and when I bought a Boss NS-2 it cleaned up my signal perfectly. As long as you mean a hissy feedback and not a squeely overdriven feedback anyway. The noise gate/suppressor only gets rid of noise (hiss) from your signal not feedback (AFAIK anyway).
12. Dont want to state the obvious but brass is really easy to work with (Niel Buchanan voice on) "Try it yourself" (Niel Buchanan voice off).

15. I have one (500W version) and I always championed there cause when it came to the Superfly debate on here. There are a lot of turnips out there and I seemed to have been lucky. Sadly it is now reduced to a practice amp for house use as it started cutting out as the CPU board has cheap connecters on it. Tried a DIY fix and also took it into a shop to have it repaired but still cuts out sometimes so just cant trust it at a gig. I should add mines started going wrong after 2-3 years solid gigging everyweekend and 1-2 practices every week. It served me well for £200. I would listen to Moos3h and keep an eye on the classifieds on here. You should be able to snap up a bargain if you have £230 to spend.

Some Critisism
Only listened to listen to Honky Tonk Woman, but to be honest the vocals on the chorus are pretty ropey. The other thing is the production (especially on the vocals and drums) is incredibly lifeless and this really doesn't help. Again, only in my opinion, your drummer REALLY needs to lay off the Crash. Cheers, James
Cheers for the feedback. We recorded it a long time ago in a little YMCA studio. Wasnt expensive and I suppose you get what you pay for. We really wanted to somehow record ourselves live at a gig but couldnt find a decent way to pull it off on the cheap so went this way. On our drummer, I have no idea how to play drums so cant really give him specific tips but he's easily the loudest thing about the band. We have no idea how to quieten him down besides putting him in a box!

Some Critisism

So, we have been gigging for a good year+ since this was recorded and are a damn site tighter than we were then... The guitarist is still convinced he is week on the vocals (male) and the lead singer is more than coming into her own, Our tunes on spankface: http://www.myspace.com/offthecuffky7 Remember its a year on from these recordings and we have been giggin virtually every weekend and the guitard/singer is going live (ala one take) after about 2 weeks practice on Honky Tonk. I'm sitting here after a night in the pub and decided to check our tunes out again and am quite happy with what I just listened to. The main (female) vocs are quite weak but remember this is a year on and she is much stonger now, The Male vox are the same guitard is better these days and no quavery, unsure lyrics . I aint improved much and the drummer is just as good (even though he was on a weird drumkit he wasnt used to, kudos to him). I would be happy to hear those 3 tunes at a pub band gig personally. Am I blinded by the fact I am in the band or am I being negative because I want to be picky?!

20. 5 mins down the road to our practice space and another 5 home. After reading this thread I am even more greatful for what we have!
21. So I had a bit of history with my Superfly which has now been relegated to a practice amp for my living room. I started using my old H/H B100 to gig with and I began to appreciate how good it was until it too decided to die on me at the end of a gig. I popped it open to see if I could find a reason for it dieing and discovered 2 blown fuses inside the head unit. Replaced both fuses and it sounded better than ever so I suppose one might have blown a while ago and I just ran it on half power. So with both fuses now good and a touch of gain this amp sounds killer and I will prob only make an upgrade to a Tecamp/Markbass type head. I play pubs generally but have yet to crank it above a quarter and any more is way too loud for the band. One thing to mention, I noticed while changing the fuses that there was a QC type date written underneath the top chipboard plate that read **/Apr/62. Surely this amp isnt 47 years old but if it is then how the hell did these guys not manage to keep pumping out amps?! Share all your H/H experiences and love here as I'm sure some of the more experienced guys here have used these in the past.
22. I replaced the stock white one on my sage green Jazz with a black perloid and it does make a big difference. Simple but effective for sure. Just need to put a decent set of pick ups in and I might get away with gigging the thing. Just doesnt have enough bottom end to it.
23. I have thought once or twice about seeing another band or two to see what else is out there. I always put it off because its a struggle fitting gigs in with normal life... How do you guys, married or otherwise, manage to juggle different bands?
24.
+1 again.... Though if you are OK with going second hand, there is some nice stuff in the Bass' for sale section - especially if your budget can stretch to some of the MIJ/CIJ Fenders in there.... Or the rather tasty (well to me anyway) G&L L2000 Tribute T.
+1 on the G&L. If you fancy a change from the Jazz sound then the G&L gives you loads of options and great value for money. I will prob never regret buying mine. If you like the jazz though I'll echo what everyone else says about the VMJ. I even fancy one myself once the Credit card has calmed down a bit.
25. I actually bought some flats a few years ago that did the same. Werent cheap either, Rotosounds I think. Just slipped right through my MIM bridge. Come to think of it. Might not have been the flats but I'm pretty sure it was.
