1. Thanks Robert, hope is all good with you up there. Steve
2. Ok then, if I cannot tempt you with my Mesa gear then maybe this will do the trick! The current work situation means that I have to clear out some gear... hence.... Pristine left handed Fender American Deluxe Jazz bass. From the Fender website: Our left-handed American Deluxe Jazz Bass guitar captures the spirit of Fender innovation with its three-band active EQ, pair of Samarium™ Cobalt Noiseless Jazz Bass pickups and 18-volt power supply. This select alder-body bass has a modern C-shaped, graphite-reinforced maple neck with a contoured heel (for easy access to upper frets), five-bolt neck plate, rosewood rolled-edge fingerboard, abalone dot inlays and highly detailed nut and fret work. Other features include chrome hardware, deluxe chrome-plated steel bridge plate (string-through-body or top-load) with nickel-plated brass saddles, and Fender/Schaller® Deluxe Lite-Bass tuning machines. No fret wear at all on this, it appears to have been little played to date (I have always preferred my Precision over it!). Supplied in the original hard case with the truss rod tool. £600 + shipping. Happy to answer any queries or send more photos etc. etc. etc. Cheers. Steve
3. Hmmmmm... no interest in this other than one trade offer... I blame Thatcher!!
4. It can have an Ampeg badge on it by the time you come to pick it up! Your bandmates would spot the difference though when your sound improves markedly I quite fancy going back to Ampeg stuff actually and would be pleased to hear from anyone with some to trade! Especially SVT3. Chocolate frog for Lock Stock answer!! Cheers Steve
5. "It's a deal... it's a steal.. it's the sale of the fu**ing century".... name that movie?? Bump!
6. Ok all, it's like this...... It now looks as though redundancy for me will be certain at the end of August. So, I could really do with off loading some stuff here including this little lot! What we have here is: Gator 6U wheeled rack case containing: Mesa Boogie Bass 400+ head, Samson VHF wireless unit & a Behringer rack tuner/downlighter. Also shown in the photos is a Mesa Boogie 1x15 Diesel EV loaded 8ohm cab which is also available. Details are: Head - This was bought new by a guy in South Wales in July of last year from The Bass Centre (I have the original receipt). He never used this other than in his house but then again he did also have two all valve Ampeg rigs to choose from which he preferred by all accounts. I still have the original Mesa packaging for the head along with the original tags and handbook etc. It has however, been in the same rack case since I got it home. This has probably had less than 10 hours use in total from new! I have used it for a few gigs, always using other gear for recording/rehearsing etc. Totally original in every way and obviously in as new condition also. A monstrous head as anyone who has used one will confirm! Tuner - What can you say, it's a tuner! Has various modes/tuning options, large graphic display and a built in metronome. It also overhangs the other gear in the rack and has downlighters to illuminate everything below it in the rack...tres cool!! Wireless - This a true diversity Samson VHF wireless system, will come with the transmitter belt pack, antennas and Samson PSU and a printed copy of the owners manual. Mesa Diesel cab - I don't know what it is about these older Diesels...whatever it is, they have it! The head and this cab together work superbly. I won't be too sorry if this cab does not sell and I have to keep it! I will be happy to split the above items but would first like to give someone the opportunity to be able to buy it as it stands in the first instance. Prices... well, taking the rack and everything in it. If I half the new cost of all the items it comes in a few quid short of £1000. Its worth remembering that Mesa never allow discounting of their gear and this is the closest it is possible to get to a new one without spending £1,700 for this head! Diesel cabs seem to generally go for £300 without too much effort. So.... Rack and contents £1000 Cab £300 If you buy both you can have them for £1200. I will obviously be more than happy to answer any queries if I possibly can. I will be looking for something to replace this so feel free to drop me a PM if you have a head, cab or quality'ish combo you would want to possibly trade. Collect only please! I am happy to meet within sensible limits but really don't want to even think about shipping this! Steve
7. Much as I like my Superfly I am finding it's use restricted by the inability of it to work in bridged mode to give 500W into 4ohms. Yes, I could use two 4 ohm cabs but that is defeating the whole point (for me) of having such a small & lightweight head. So... is it possible to mod it in this respect? Has anyone done it yet? Was it easy to do? Etc. etc. I am happy with it in all other respects especially after getting one in the Sound Control clear out at a very good price! Thanks in advance. Steve
8. Just flick the standby swith before unplugging/plugging leads and you will be fine. No need to wait at all and certainly no need to shut the whole amp down. Occasionaly I forget to do this which usually results in a blown fuse! Cheers Steve
9. Hi, I moved to Warwicks after years of playing Fender basses. It was the neck shape that I loved about the Warwicks but it did take a while to adjust to the neck, in fact it was quite painful for a month or two (although I have had cortisone injections in both wrists now, an heradity thing unfortunately so that was probably a big factor). I have since moved back to Fender basses and had to go through the pain again! I never really got into the sound of all that bubinga & wenge but the basses were superb in every other respect. Steve
10. I had one of these a couple of years ago and as others have also said, I found it to be woefully lacking in volume even for use at home. I would never have contemplated using it for even small rehearsals. I replaced it with a Line 6 Lowdown Studio 110 - 70w which has more than enough volume for even loud rehearsals, very useable in the studio with some nice sounding pre-set amp models built in plus a nice compressor. Lightweight, 12 inch cube sized.... excellent for £160 new. Just don't go anywhere near the larger Lowdown amps though, I was very disappointed with the 300 Pro I bought. Cheers Steve
11. We recently advertised a car on Autotrader and had many email responses like this, offering to buy the car without viewing for full asking price. We knew they were a scam but did no what one.... until now! Thanks for the enlightenment guys! Needless to say we didn't respond to any! Steve
12. I have used my 1x15 EV Diesel exclusively (on its own) for the last 9 months or so. It is by far the most "complete" sound I have ever heard when using a single cab. Not particularly heavy too, unlike its 2x10 brother! Steve
13. Hi John, always good to see another lefty! Steve
14. I currently have a bubinga Corvette and until recently had an ash bodied one too which gave me endless opportunity to A/B them. Tonewise I found so little difference between the two it is not worth mentioning! The common factor with the two basses was the ovangkol/wenge neck and that I believe is where the much mentioned Warwick tone lies. The big difference of course is in the weight, the bubinga being much, much heavier to the point that the ash one never seemed like a "proper" bass in comparison! Steve
15. Thanks for the replies all. The plot thickens though! The Ampeg website and Thomann website are showing these images of the new BA combos: http://www.thomann.de/gb/ampeg_ba300_115.htm Whilst several UK dealers are showing these images of them: http://www.soundslive.co.uk/common/showima...e=/images/Ampeg BA600 115.jpg Very different looking! Confused? Me too! All immaterial though as they are not to be found anywhere in Europe as far as I can see right now anyway! Steve, I will check out your review of the Nemesis. Steve
16. Thanks gents, I guess that would explain the lack of info despite them being advertised just about everywhere! Muppet... would be interested to hear what you bought instead? Steve
