1. Hi all, so have moved in with the girlfriend into a nice, but small, place and basically she is giving me grief about having my stack in the living room (i know I can't understand either!) So I was wondering if I could plug my head,an ashdown abm, into my hi-fi to keep space down. It's a big hi fi with all sorts of input and outputs for tv ipod etc. would never play loud and nearly always through headphones.Any help or advice would be greatly recieved, cheers Si
2. Hi mate, could you explain the bridging function I'm a little confused, and also does would using 2 x 8ohms cabs give you the full wack or would you need 4?! Just abit confused by the 4 x 4ohm jack plugs Apologies if I'm being an idiot Simon
3. now traded, thanks for all the interest people! simon
4. traded my bass with one of Sam's yesterday. the bass was exactly as described (especially with the 20 pics he sent which is great) very nice chap and a great deal all round. would be more than happy to deal with again and/or recommend to others! simon
5.
Where do you live (for meeting up purposes)? And how much does this bass weigh?
im in a village called nash near Milton Keynes (mk17 0ew) and im not sure will have a weigh up in a bit. do you have a trade offer?
So where was this when I came to buy the white P-Bass !
ha ha this was my keeper then, just love the maple neck on it but fancy a change now. played a pretty big gig last night thru a ampeg 8x10 and it sounded awesome so might need a rethink! bump!
6.
Haha, get in the queue!
good point, they are bloody nice though, although i would worry i may stop playing my Sterling if i got a geddy lee,and that cant happen as i spent a small fortune on it! bump!
7. Your a gentleman Mr ghost rider. Holla at me if you fancy doing something?Simon
8. Bump. Seems there are loads of geddy lee's for sale on here atm...someone swap me one!
9. Will do a little research into these mate,is it the black one yeah?nearly brought the sunburst version a few years back
10. hi all, after buying my dream bass a few months ago (Musicman Sterling) and falling in love with it, especially the thin neck im thinking of trading this beauty. now im more than happy to keep this as everyone needs a P Bass in their lives (dont they!?) but just seeing if anyone wants to swap. im thinking Jazz's, mexican or Squier CV or anything really, try me! maybe even 5 string?! holla at me, for rules i guess this is worth around £400,seen these go for £450 but this has a few chips on the top (see photo bucket album). i was thinking if i kept her i would get it professionally reliced (road worn style not obvious!) o yeah i forgot this also has Seymour Duncan Basslines fitted! and i have the metal gold plate that this originally came with but i think the black on black looks awesome http://s1092.photobu...er%20Precision/
11. where abouts in saaaaaaaath london are you mate? seems a good price to me si
12. hi all, saw this for sale at a mates place (rehearsal space/amp repairer) and thought it should be on here! we have a Hartke VX410 cab is great condition with 4 Ampeg speakers, which takes the cab to 400w running at 4 ohms. the cab is in great condition, made out of ply and built like a tank and sounds truely awesome with the Ampeg upgrade. note, this is for sale not being used at a rehearsal space. and the price for this greatness?..............£180 cash picked up from Bletchley in Milton Keynes, a true bargain in my books. anymore info holla at me or email [email protected] (www.mrgigstudios.com
13. cool thanks everyone for their help!
14. bloody Maplins sold me the wrong thing then!? cheers for your help, how do i connect the plates together?then how to i connect the speaker wires?! cheers mate i could go back and swap it for the 'correct' item, do you know what that would be? its 1 15inch speaker so just a pos/neg
15. hi all, rigging up new cab and i have brought a backing plate just need to know how to connect the pos/neg of the speaker to it,is it one on one side and the other on the other!? probs a silly question but there are six terminals! cheers
16. cheers guys, this is all good news. Thanks a lot x
17. hi all, have been reading that sticking a 4x10 with my 2x10 cab could ruin the 2x10 as its working twice as hard? the amp is a ashdown abm 575watt and the 2x10 is a abm 350watt 2x10. would be getting a abm 4x10 600w or something else. am i right in thinking this would be a problem if i was playing at full volume (nearly 300watts going into 2x10) please any advice would be great! thanks simon
18. is it me or is this is a seriously good deal?! have a bump on me. i used to own one of these and they are sweet amps
19. Thanks alot guys. Will be straight in the passive mode tomorrow Also, with the 8ohm combo and the 8ohm cab I should be getting 4ohms from the amp so the full potential of 575watt? Even though its a 2x10 not a 4x10? Cheers
20. hey all. so after getting my combo fixed and adding a new cab (ashdown 575w abm with 2x10 cab) i was quite annoyed that it seems way quieter than i expected. on over half way in a tiny little practcie room. the dude at the rehearsal place (long term bassist) said i should just use my Active bass (musicman sterling) on the passive setting,i tried this for 5 mins and it was twice as loud on the same volume setting. can i do this long term or will it bust my amp/bass!? is the musicnam output just really really quiet?also on passive setting, the little input dial on the amp actually moves whereas on the active setting it doesnt move at all, suggesting its hardly getting a decent signal cheers thanks alot, this is annoying me!!! simon
21. Hey all, I was looking for some help,I'm after a pedal unit that I can use quite advance drum loops and record my bass over them,I have come to the conclusion that my bass playing would benefit from structured practice and time keeping. A metronome is all well and good but I want actual 'realish' beats. Any ideas? I can only find zoom etc but I'm not sure how much control I could have over the patterns Cheers Simon
22. Thanks for all the replies, will wait til the neighbours are out and try all the options out before I start screwing wheels onto one of the cabs! Cheers guys
23. I just assumed the 2x10 should be above the 15 as everyone seems to run their rigs like that! :-/
24. Hi all,bit of an odd one here but basically I have a 1x15 ashdown abm combo and a 2x10 ashdown cab on top and basically I have noticed the front where the speakers are mounted are exactly the same dimensions so I was wondering how hard it would be to swap the speakers round, that way I have the controls at the top of the rig and the cab is Mich deeper and sits wobbly on the combo. So I would have a 2x10 combo on top of a 15 cab (which I could put casters on). I know ashdown do this amp in a 2x10 combo and the wattages all match up,just don't know about 'splitting' the faces from the wooden bodies and wiring etc. Many thanks Si
