Depressing things your bandmates say.
Killerfridge replied to arthurhenry's topic in General Discussion
"What's that string called again?" "I've just written a great new song" *Plays power chords of A, F, C, G* "Whadya think?"* *Note: all our songs go A F C G. At least all the songs written by this certain person. Doesn't even think of changing the key. -
Perfect.
You're telling me! Cheers for the kind words guys

Right. I did it. I took the plunge. It's a Sadowsky Metro MV4. And it's bloody gorgeous. Both visually, and audibly! It's also much lighter than any of my other basses, so, that's a plus. Bought from GG in Epsom today, and I almost got a crazy good deal. Was waiting to pay, whilst they got the bass from out back. They say "Do you want to check it over before you go" and I obviously agree. The had got the Will Lee model out by mistake! If I hadn't checked, I could have walked out with something costing £500 more! Nevermind, I got what I wanted, and it is sublime. Simply wonderful. I will post videos later. Oh, and thank you to everyone who help chose the colour scheme - you were all correct!

Hi guys, After many months of searching, I think I have found an instrument that I am in love with - The Sadowsky Metroline basses. The problem that has reared its ugly head is this - what colour to get?! I am torn between these 3 combinations: Rosewood and Olympic White (with tort' pickguard) Maple and Olympic White (with tort' pickguard) Maple and Ash (with black or tort' pickguard) So what are your opinions? Cheers guys.

My personal favourite pre-amps are the John East U-Retros. Check them out here.

Gaslighting Abbie is a fantastic tune - something we have to perform at college, and in my function band. I love Steely Dan.
Being through something like that myself, my advice - you must get a good teacher: he'll give the right stuff for you to improve, and he'll help you to get through hard times like this. There are a few guys on BC that are really worth attention - Joe Hubbard (I'm his student, and Joe is the real deal, when it comes to music tuition, but you have to be ready to work really hard everyday), Scott Devine, Jakesbass (Jake Newman).. Don't know where you're from but it doesnt matter because you can hook up with those guys via Skype video (I'm getting my lessons like this, and it's totally fine..) let us know how you get on, easy Laimis
I agree with this. Joe is a tutor at the ACM, and he is phenomenal. Another couple of fantastic tutors are Mike Nichols (also on here) and Phil Mulford (great if you can get him!).

Individual Songs Bass Score/Dots. Where from?

Very good list - I use many of them myself! -
Right I think I should put this here: Say hello to my Jon Shuker Jazz 5 Video first - slight volume problem, but I can't be bothered to deal with it until later. Spanish Joint by D'Angelo - I know that the timing is iffy at the start, due to my inability to lock into the rhythm! There is also some dodgy soloing around 4mins in. Don't judge me, I can't solo :haha: Photo on 13-09-2011 at 14.32 by killerfridge, on Flickr Photo on 13-09-2011 at 14.32 #3 by killerfridge, on Flickr Photo on 13-09-2011 at 14.32 #4 by killerfridge, on Flickr

High End Fretless Question Wal Vs Pedulla Buzz
Killerfridge replied to bassatnight's topic in General Discussion
When I think of the perfect fretless sound, it always goes to the Pedulla Pentabuzz. So...that. -
Generally if you can find it cheaper, then GG will price match. Just ask on the phone or alternatively come in store. As for discounts otherwise, you'll usually find the guys can do you a deal if you buy a couple of things, for example a head and cab together. If it's the Newcastle store that's nearest to you, then ask to speak to a manager there once you know what it is you're after. Myself and normal staff aren't able to do discounts you see so all we'd be doing would be asking a manager ourselves! Any further questions then PM me Probably best rather than pulling this thread off track which I could see us doing!
Wait a minute...are you the red haired guy who works in the Epsom GG? If so, I can only thank you for generally being so helpful and accommodating to my stupid quest to find a decent 5 string Jazz Bass. If not, could you apologise to him for me having to leave on short notice, after kitting me out in a booth with an Aguilar head, 2 Sandbergs a Lakland, a Sadowsky and a G&L! I had an upset girlfriend on the phone who needed attending to, not leaving me time to put the basses back, or relay my overall opinions (or even say thanks!)

I agree with the GuitarGuitar, and I will add Project Music for all your MusicMan needs
Got his today from ThomBassmonkey, was also owned (and custom ordered) by another member here. Sandberg MM2. It sounds bloody lovely with my Markbass....
It looks bloody lovely too! Wow, seriously nice looking Sandberg there! I personally think the "J-bass plus $$" look is the perfect looking bass.
I notice that 3 and a half years later that guy on Talkbass still hasn't reverse-engineered the Wal pickup yet: http://www.talkbass.com/forum/f38/won-wal-...up-ebay-432803/
You sure? On page 23 someone is offering Wal clone pickups?

Well, I have been told on good authority that the Tannoy Reveal 501a Active Studio Monitors are very good for the price. It will mean bumping your budget to £250 though.

What's the most you would spend on a bass???
Killerfridge replied to Schnozzalee's topic in Bass Guitars
I think my upper limit would be £3000, but that would have to be something spectacularly special. Realistically I can't see myself spending over £2500.
