1. I use La Bella steels rounds, on my fretted... and Roto flats on my fretless. I did have rounds on the fretless as well, but broke a string and only had a set of flats in the house for spare.

I am NOT going back to rounds on the fretless. The roto's sound brilliant.

  2. I think my mind is made up.

Shop in Bedford has one - so next week I shall take my Status along and give it a blast. I expect I will be coming home with one though!

Need you lot to buy all the stuff in the 'Amps for sale' thread though... :)

  3. I have a never gigged, never actually been out of the house Yamaha P5000S that I am seriously thinking of selling.

It has been used at home practice levels only. Let me know if you are interested.

  4. mmm

That Mark Bass 1x12 interests me greatly! (I really like 12 inch cones on bass - used them for years).

I was used to carrying about 2 full size heads and 2 of the monster Marshall 4x12 bass cabs (to me I still think they take some beating at any price), 2 basses so it would be a real shock to be able to do 1 trip from the car!! I was used to 4 or 5 trips!

I think there is a Mark Bass dealer in bedford (I work in Kempston) so I might have to nip over there at lunch time next week. Bring my bass in and have a go.

Paul_C from this forum has a Little Mark 2 into a Accugroove cab (not sure which one) which sounds great - but the Accugroove stuff is mondo expensive.

If the little MB 1x12 meets requirements I would even be able to sell my usual at home practice combo! (a Roland Cube 30 - awesome little thing)

    Thanks chaps

  5. I am selling the Rig of Doom off bit by bit and was going to keep my Ampeg Preamp, Yammie Power amp and a Hartke 2x12... but I also want to consider getting rid of the lot and replacing with a good quality combo.

The Mark Bass 2x10 has caught my eye - but what else should I be looking at?

My basses are both Statii - 1 fretted and 1 fretless. I play rock, blues, swing and some chordal bass stuff.

I suppose if I got rid of everything I could use about £700.00 or so - maybe a little bit more. New or used is fine, and a small head and cab is also fine to consider.

    Small, powerful and lightweight!

    Any ideas?

I'm in the Northampton area so hopefully I can find somewhere reasonably close to try any suggestions. There aren't many good music shops round here.

  6.
Well, an Alembic preferably :)

I'm starting to think I'm insane as well. Am I? Maybe I should get a fretless neck from Status for it in order to add some variety...
I got a fretless neck made for my Status this year - was about £400 and it is now my main bass.

BUT... Rob only does neck-exchanges on his own models. That means you don't get to keep your original neck. He does this to stop people bolting the old neck onto a pile of rubbish and claiming it is a status.

My old status needed a severe re-fret anyway so I wasn't sad to see the old neck go in the bin (I have another fretted status anyway)

  7. My car just cost me £800 in repairs so with great reluctance I must sell loads of kit:

Bass POD Pro XT rack mount: £280

    Line 6 Shortboard controller: £150

Hartke Pro 2200 cab (2x12 with horn. 4ohm) £295. (2 of them for sale)

    Yamaha P5000S poweramp £295

    SKB 8u rack £80.00

None of it has been gigged.

    Pic:

Hopefully they will go to a good home.

  8. bugger. I wold have had that.

No logo - because on older necks / basses the logo was either on the bridge, the pickups or at the base of the neck.

Neither of my 2 Energys were logod. (1 got a new fretless neck from Status - and that does have one)

BTW - if you go fretless - Rob will build you a neck for about £400 ish.

  9. Send it Quick.com are crap.

They killed an Ashdown Mini48 I sent to Liverpool.

Then they promised an inspection within 30 days - and didn't. 3 months of reminders later and they still did nothing.

So I sued. I got judgment and I got the money back and the court fees.

They are not PART of parcelforce at all. They are merely a go between. You pay them, then they book parcel force.n They operate out of a tiny 1 room office in London.
