  1. It has taken a side stream but the original question was more about what famous bass players basses do you like. When i started reading the thread and was about to comment i mistakenly took it as signature basses. I have the Thumb NT that Jack Bruce had and have the Geddy Jazz signature. I did have the WAL fretless in 80's when i was into Percy Jones. Now i'm looking at Geddy's Ric bass more for the tone and look. Might even sell my Thumb NT to fund it as not using it these days. Dave
  2. So dId jack Bruce hence my comment "deserved" to have theirs, whereas Percy Jones deserved one as in should have had a WAL signature. Dave
  3. For me these guys deserved a signature bass.
  4. The live version of Complete Control by Clash has so much energy i would put it up there with my fav classic rock songs. We do Into The Valley by Skids too but i've never really seen them as a punk band. You can see where Big Country came from tho. Again a lot of energy in the songs. I saw Big Country support Bowie at Sunderland football park many moons ago and Big Country was by far the better band that day. Powerful, energetic and great musicianship. Dave
  5. Proves you're doing it right Rob. 👍
  6. WOW that's some price for any Mesa amp. If i didnt have my Mpulse 600 and a TT800 on order i might have gone for this too. GLWTS and i dont think it will be here long. Dave
  7. I bought the PH212 in that Guitar Guitar sale and its an amazing cab. The 412 cab must be absolutely thunderous. These cabs have such a depth of tone (sometimes called "heft"). You dont just hear a Mesa cab you feel it without losing any clarity thru the range. I've gone Subway but i'm keeping my PH212 cab cause its just brilliant and i can pair it with my other Mesa cabs. Great cab and great price. GLWTS. Dave
  8. Any chance you could post a pic of your Ric bass. Looks like an unusual colour. Dave
  9. Glasgow and Central belt area of Scotland. I definitley recognise the band name but who knows how. Dave
  10. Did you tour or gig up this way ? Dave
  11. Did the band achieve much ? The name sounds familiar. Dave
  12. If i did that i'd end up falling asleep in the bath and i'd be there till wife got up in morning by which time the water would be cold. 😂 Dave
  13. Nice bass. What is it ? Dave
  14. I'm quite lucky ............ i dont know how to slap and never play it. Does that qualify me as a genius ? Dave
  15. Altho i like to hear solo bassists doing some slap i just think its had its day. There are so many amazing bass players doing slap that there's nothing new in it for me. Not saying its easy and it takes a lot of talent to do it well but for me it doesn't do much. I tend to move on to the next VID clip. I'd rather listen to someone do a bit of two handed playing or something a bit more melodic rather than rhythmic percussion. Think there's a fine balance to get it right. I am certainly no master of slap by any means as its a style i've just never really been into so i'm probably a bit biased there. Dave
  16. Same here Dave. Thoroughly enjoy the drive home as roads are usually nice and quiet. I always have my coffee and biccies when i get home tho. Dave
  17. For a minute their i thought that was Geezer Butler with the blackist black bass i've ever seen. So much black it could almost be a black hole. Very nice indeed. Never seen one like that before. Dave
  18. Is that not the sign of a great gig where the adrenelin is still running when you get home. I'm always like that. Have to wind down with a coffee and biccy when i get home no matter what time it is. Dave
  19. Cant say i've noticed any link with headphones. I use mine a lot with my laptop but to be fair i dont use at high volume. Usually just enough to hear things. I'll keep an eye on it now that you've mentioned it. Dave
  20. Yep stress or migraines make mine worse. Also colds or sinus issues, changes in weather conditions seem to affect it but that's probably the sinus thing again. If i think about it, it seems to be more noticeable. It seems to go thru spells of being more noticeable and then times i hardlt notice it. Dave
  21. Sounded great. Well done. Pity the camera guy focused mainly on the guitarist playing a simple rhythm most of the time.
  22. That was it. Cheers for that it was bugging me trying to remember. Dave
  23. I thought Ray Wilson did a good job on the Genesis album. His earlier band were pretty good IMO of course. Think this song was used on a TV advert or something like that. Think he could have done better for himself if he hadn't went with Genesis altho it probably opened a few doors for him i expect.
  24. Phil's son is a phenomenal drummer and think he'll do a great job. I cant get past Phil having to sit down but from what i've seen in a few clips on youtube i thought they sounded pretty good. Dave
