I cant find any with seperate channels with different voicings and still lightweight. The Magellan 800 is an option i might look at where you can switch the drive on/off with a footswitch. Only just started to search for an alternative as i had my heart set on the TT800. Genx only do the 350 and 800 Magellan amps as far as i know. Tech21 do a twin channel amp but its 23lbs and both channels have same voicings. You can get their dUg version at £2.4k with a high and Low voiced channels. The high channel has a guitar amp voicing and you can blend the two channels to get dUg Pinnick tone whatever that may be. 😂 My Mpulse is a great amp but its getting older by the day and i have had a few niggling issues with it recently so want something modern and reliable but still offering that tube warmth. Any suggestions welcome guys...............be polite as i've just been dissed 😂 Dave

It is down to part shortages rather than licensing etc. Apparently some parts are on 60 week lead times so its causing a lot of issues and probably not just for Mesa. I now need to find an alternative and start from scratch. I spent 2 yrs researching the SW amps before finally taking the plunge. The thought of another 1-2 yrs researching another amp is quite daunting. Not sure where i'll go now. Dave

Update from Andertons today. Looks like i wont be getting a Mesa TT800 after all. Time to look for something else. Shame as i was really looking forward to getting it soon. Have to say i'm disappointed. This is the Mesa email to Andertons. Dave “Due to supply constraints, as well as proper EU compliance timing, we will not be shipping Mesa Boogie to EMEA (Europe) during FY23 (April 2022 – March 2023). By September 2022 we will be able to confirm if we start shipping to EMEA per April 2023, if all Mesa Boogie products are compliant with Europe CE/UK CA certification and supply constraints are resolved. By then we plan to re-launch the Brand Mesa Boogie in EMEA, also based on adequate inventory at Europe warehouse. We will give an update in September.”

I got it for my 50th birthday many moons ago and it never leaves the house except for the occasional visit to a friends studio to help him out with bass lines. I've never gigged it as its expensive but a little heavy for a full gig. I love playing around with the fretless at home tho. There's something "more" about a fretless. Dave

Nice Rob. Like Alain Caron. One of the reasons i bought my Overwater custom 6er fretless. Dave

Our singer and guitarist tested positive just after our last gig with Glam band and all clear for the next. Singer still has a bit of a breathing problem and thats 3 weeks now. I was told the secret to avoiding long covid is rest as much as possible when you have it. No idea if that's genuine or true but i'm gonna go with that if i catch it. Our other bands singer's wife now has it. 1 in 11 up here have it apparently. Hope he gets back to full health quickly and you guys get back to gigging again. All the best Dave

A Will Smith is required for idiots like that.

Has anyone bought a bass on a whim just cos of its looks?

Any pics would be nice to see it. Used to love the Mockingbird basses. Dave -
Nice gig in Bathgate Dreadnought venue tonight with the punk band. Started off a bit slow with regards audience attendance but it gradually got busier as we went thru the first set. Lots of dancers on the floor and turned out to be a great night. Sound guy was a bassist so i had a great sound out front. On stage sound was perfect. Could hear everything clearly. Great feedback at the end of the night. Sound guy said he had seen the band many times in this venue but this was by far the best the band had ever sounded. Really tight and driving punk songs. I told him its just that the band has gel'd and there's a great atmosphere in the band and we are all quite relaxed within the band. Several punters said it was acracking gig and they loved the band. No pics as yet. I packed up and left after we finished so dont know if we've been paid for it LOL Dave

That was a really nice post. I remember our local music shop having the J & P versions of the Fender Antigua basses on display. I was stunned by the looks of them but never managed to buy one. Over the many many years i always return to J basses after trying other styles. Dave -

No leakage there then -
Ordered 2 sets of the Longevo nickels 40-100's and fitted a set to my MarloweDK and love the tone but i've noticed the E string sounds a little bit quiet compared to the others. Bass set up hasn't changed much altho i did have to tweak the neck a touch but the Marlowe seems to sit on the edge with the neck. Might just be this set. I have another set i'll fit to my VM4 and see how they get on. If its a generic thing i'll end up going back to my D'addario nickels again. As i've played the bass at gigs i've also noticed the strings dont cut thru the mix like my D'addarios but not much in it. Think they'll suit the Glam rock band better where i dont need as much bite for most songs. In the punk band i have a distinct edge on the top end. Dave

What bass are you using there, cant quite make it out. Sounding good there. Enjoyed that. Dave

I'm very particular about my clothes. Any T shirt and jeans will do. Dave -

I've never been a fan of relic'd basses in fact i deliberately would give them a 2nd look but i bought a MarloweDK because i love the tone and feel of the bass. To be fair since buying the relic'ing has grown on me and i definitely dont worry so much about dinging it at gigs compared to my other "perfect condition" basses. Had i tried the bass without seeing it i would probably have bought it. That's a change in attitude for me. Dave -
I played it in a band 5 or 6 yrs ago and it was a good song to play. Dave

Looks like you were having a blast in those pics. Well done. What is the band ? Dave

I dont even know what the song is and i'm generally hard to classic rock. 😂 Dave

Because he plays chords a lot i struggle with Lemmy songs being a fingerstyle player. I have managed Ace of Spades by using my index finger like a pic. Good fun to play tho. Dave
