Out of interest, what's the overall length of the bass? I've been looking for something that would fit in the cupboard of my van for travelling with, but it would need to be about a metre in length.

From the tip of the headstock to the furthest point of the lower strap button, it measures 38.5" (980mm).

Probably a little bit more in its soft case.

    Hope this helps.

If you think that you have it bad, think about what your audience are experiencing.

This, I go to my local most weeks to see live bands and if they are too loud, then I leave, and many others do the same.

When I play live with the band, we always check with the venue owner and the bar staff to make sure we are not too loud.

Just out of curiosity, why do you need to be so loud in a pub?

If there's no luck with a BC member, it might be worth a look at Tiny Tone in Manchester (a part of Jack's Repair Services).  The site is here:

    https://tinytone.co.uk/custom-scratchplates/

They did some work for me - a replacement celluloid tort scratchplate - for a Wilcock (and some other bits and pieces) and the quality was excellent.  Prices are reasonable too.

I had one made by TinyTone not so long ago, they did a nice job but it was a bit pricey.

  4. Ibanez GSRM20 miKro Bass Guitar (Black)

    NOW SOLD!

I purchased this lovely little bass through the marketplace as a travel/backup bass, but it is now surplus to requirements.

It plays and sounds great with its PJ configuration.

It weighs just 6lb 4oz, and measures 38.5" (980mm) in length.

It is an very good condition with just one small mark on the back which you can hardly see.

You are welcome to try it out at my home in Bridgnorth, Shropshire.

I'd have bought one of these already, if it weren't for the giant bridge plate. There seems to be a significant lack of aftermarket replacements also (I know Retrovibe did some, but are long gone).

To be honest, I never even noticed the bridge plate, it wouldn't be a deal breaker for me, and if I was to replace it with a smaller plate, there is always the chance that the outline of the larger plate would be pressed into the paintwork.

I've just sent the seller the below message. It really infuriates me when people hide under a guise of ignorance in order to con people.

"I see you're still selling this as a Fender when you know it isn't, so unless you've cancelled the auction or amended it to be truthful within 24 hours, I'm going to bid £1000 on it to ensure I win it, then if you post it to me, once it arrives I shall open a dispute with eBay that it isn't a Fender and get my money back, as per eBay rules, you'll be responsible for covering return postage. Or if I win and you don't send it, then I'll lodge a complaint that you've not sent me the item I've won.

So be a decent human and either withdraw the bass and relist with a truthful description, or I'll bid, and win, and we'll go through the motions laid out above.

    Thanks."

Well he's still calling it a Fender, so it looks like you will have to make your bid of £1000,😲

I would guess that the bidders (28 at the last count with the highest bid £122) probably know it's not a Fender and are looking to purchase it for a project.🤔

I would still like to see eBay take action though.

Rest assured mate, I'm a jazzer and the neck profile is lovely and playable. I have a full fat US stingray and I love the tone but not the neck so much (41mm) Had the sub ray4 too, lovely neck. You'll not be dissapointed

👍 Thanks for heads up, I might just treat myself to an early Xmas present. 🎄

  10. I've mostly played P basses with a Jazz neck fitted because I prefer the narrower nut, but I'm now thinking of getting myself a Sterling by Musicman SUB bass HH to give myself something a bit different.

The specs state that the nut is 38mm, so if anyone owns one, I was wondering if you could give me your thoughts on how the neck plays, are they similar to a Jazz neck in both feel and playability?

    Thanks.

  12. Sennheiser HD 595 Headphones

    Now SOLD!

I purchased these high quality headphones brand new, but I hardly ever used them due to listening to most of my music through my Hi-Fi system speakers.

They are practically unmarked, and there is minimal wear to the pads and headband.

Unfortunately, I no longer have the original box but they will be well packaged in another box for shipping.

I’ll kick it off with a budget option - Sennheiser HD201’s. Around £30 and a lot better than they should be. I hate headphones generally, but have found these pretty good for using at home with a small Allen & Heath mixer. Comfy to wear and sound fine.

Anyway, am sure there’ll soon be more exotic suggestions below. Cheers.

Thanks for the suggestion, I will check them out, especially at around £30 🙂

  14. Can anyone recommend a decent pair headphones for practise at home?

I'm looking for something that can handle the bass well, but also be detailed enough to make the backing tracks I play along with sound half decent as well.

I would prefer the cable to be detachable, but its not necessarily a deal breaker.

Up to £150 is my budget.

I'd have to say that the person i know had a much happier experience with it and seems to be doing well, it's a few months since the op , it was the tendon version they had rather than bits of plastic.

As he says above it may be very much down to the individual, (plus a bit of pot luck) but my friend on the contrary said they would recommend the op. Sorry to cloud the issue but they're very positive about the op, bearing in mind they may have got the techniques refined somewhat in 14 years, just a thought

I will as I mentioned originally, get them to have a try on my bass at the first opportunity, tho they don't play they could give an opinion as to if it seemed like a thing that they would be happy to do, or not as the case may be !

I do sometimes think that if I'd had the "tendon" procedure instead of the "plastic" procedure in the first place, then maybe the outcome would have been better.

As you can see from the attached photo, having the implant is very intrusive and requires drilling into the bones either side so the implant can be fitted.
