  1. Hello all,

I recently got it into my head that maybe an effects pedal would go down a treat, problem is I have no experience in this field. Where do I start? I play mostly rock I'd say, nothing massively hard. I do like the chorus sound and I suppose a touch of delay. But I also enjoy odd synth-y sounds For my first dive in should I go for one or two single pedals or a multi unit? I was looking at the ibanez cs9 and the tc nova modulator? and what about compression, is it important?

  2. How possible is it to get a white lakland DJ 4 preferably (as I have my 5 and want variety, although they say laklands B's are killer) with a maple neck and white inlays and scratch plate? Also should I just get the 5'er for the B? Is it really that good?

That is lovely! And only £900! I'm going to ave to put out a few pleas once a get a few pay checks in!

  4. Hello about 3 or 4 years ago there was the most stunning warwick I've ever seen! I don't even know what type it was but it was either a thumb or a corvette, it had a different wood body and was just stunning. If I remember correctly it was priced around £1758 or so. I was just wondering if the person who bought it was on this board or happens to know the person who bought it could post a picture of it?

    Does anyone even remember it?

  5. I was wondering if It is possible to light up my walkabout head with a few red leds just for banter. Is there anyway of doing this easily? Is it just a case of gettin a few leds and a battery and just whip it in or would it be better to tap into the power supply of the amp?

  6. There is a handy we thing on ebay that controls the amount of signal coming from your bass, never tried it but i'm sure it'd work. also turn your bass and gain down very very low. and boost the pre amp should get you there.

  7. I am unsure, I have a 5 thumb and it does make things eaier to play but I rarely use anything lower than the D. Also there is horrible neck dive on the 5 thumb not sure about the 4 but it is putting seriouus strain on my wrist, so much so I have to go and see if something more serious has happened.

    just asking the question

  8. So let's bring this down to a commercial level,

Specs have no 'real' affect on how it sounds in terms of tone? They can tell you how loud it goes? Is that why alex, you give the one month return period?

    Possible rant

Also why do many manufactures have so many different spec listings? Shouldn't there be a unified code of specs that the manufacturer has to produce? I realise that tone is personal. But as a consumer, I feel with local music store shutting up shop and internet shopping taking over, I personally think that without unifying a spec sheet as to how things are done that it is very hard to make a calculated choice. As trial and error can be expensive.

    Rant over

  9. So Tonal difference are much more defined by many other factors excluding cone diameter. Do the more expensive cabs merit their price tags? How much influence do cabs have on tone?

Ps. was tempted by a barefaced, but unsure because of the the tag line 'hear every mistake' Not sure if I'm good enough to want to.. haha. That was also a good technical article.

On another note: What is the purpose of mesa boogies 'passive radiator' on it's scout combos? Would I be right in thinking it is a touch gimicky?

  10. So looking at cabs and the different configurations that you can get, it got me thinking what are the difference in the sizes of the speakers? Do they produce different wave lengths and thus produce different sounds? I just don't get it.
