1. I like to do strange timings and the like... so not really much of a join in on the jam bass player, the weirder the better for me, .. now started using long delay and gliss with a bottle neck or old whammy bar, the drummer is looking more aghast every week The latest one is a 1.5 sec delay with a dulcimer hammer thing going on, sounds subterranean and nasty.
 2. Played to a packed pub on Saturday, about 200 through the door, we got paid bugger all but the it was the last music night at the Lamb in West Malvern, the best pub venue in the area, sold by Punch Taverns to we don't know who, at least it is not going to be pulled down,,,,. yet ... we stopped the last attempt. . There are other smaller pub venues around here and a few social clubs that are happy to have music events, lots of open mic and jam nights in pubs, they realise it gets punters in. . The Theatres [ used to be Malvern Winter Gardens ] was on the band circuit but the management stopped it a few years back, corporate image and all that. Best bet if you can't get gigs in pubs is to hire a church hall or youth centre and put on a music event of your own, publicity is really, really important though.
 3.
i'm happy with the sg shaped bass i've made!
lets have a look then
 4. CMI SG on fleabay I have just been given one as a possible swap for an old Biscayne that I don't play very much, first impressions are wtf I will possibly drop the action, you could fly a 747 under the strings and maybe even clean the strings,,, the jack socket needs cleaning as do the pots... I will report back later
 5. Now sold glad its going to a loving ohm at last ... btw, how does one change the subject header so I can tell people it is sold ? Cant work out how to edit this .. cheers, Steve.
 6. stop chatting and BID NOW
 7. Yeah, the drivers can be got cheap, if I was going to keep it I would buy the cheap drivers and paint the thing in a psychedelic swirly pattern to match my swirly psychedelic band
 8.
Any idea of a model number/name?
No idea..... I will have a look when I venture out into the barn It is under some tarps at the moment. It has greenback 50 watt 16 ohm drivers if that helps.. now listed for your amusement on fleabay cab fleabay
 9.
Can you give dimensions of the cab please? Any idea of the weight? (trying to see if it'll fit in the back of a car). Are the existing speakers 16 ohms and wired in parallel, giving total load of 4 ohms?
height is 36 inches, depth 15 and width 35 . It was originally a bit deeper but the front edge has been removed [ to facilitate getting into a car, the same has happened to my little Mesa Boogie 15 cab! ] . see pic. Weight .... not heavy considering size, probably the same weight as my 4x10, it feels like nothing with no drivers in it, just a bit awkward to shift on your own. Not sure how it was wired, just had some 16 ohm green backs in it. Those Celestions in [the link] look like good value. cheers
 10.
i live in herefordshire could i give it a go see how it sounds then maybe consider it
ha ha, yep, you will need to sort the drivers out though... you do realise this ? not much sound going on at the moment but it was BIG when I used to use it It has been used for guitar in the past, pretty immense. ... Some one suggested getting a couple of 300 watt 15 inch speakers and blanking the top holes [ maybe a port ], the thing is so battered further butchering is not that important, if it doesn't go this is what I might do with it and paint some psycho patterns on the grill for effect. I reckon it would cost about 120 quid to get a working beast of a cab if you go the 2 driver route.
 11.
apologies - I just pulled my response after mentioning the idea to the missus and got a reaction that could be best described as not totally in favour of bring more gear into the house (didn't even get as far as mentioning the size)
Cover it in a nice throw and put a vase of flowers on top.... works every time ..
 12.
Hmmmmmm, tempting especially as I'll be driving up and down the M5 tomorrow
I am in tomorrow I really would like it rehomed asap as it shouldn't be living in the shed.... the wife would freak should another large black box appear in the front room
 13. Bump..... ok guys, this cab needs rescuing from oblivion, so the first 20 quid gets it It is a bit of a wreck but not a write off , yet.
 14.
I wanted one of these so much when I was younger. It was the picture of Gerry McAvoy on a Rory Gallagher album and seeing them live. Marshall will do a re-cover at an unbelievably cheap price. An immense cab. Shame my back is stuffed with a trapped nerve. Best wishes from another bass player (also into cycling) from that part of the world, Bromyard, in my youth, many, many years ago.
Not that heavy tbh, no worse than my Ashdown 4x10, mostly air and the drivers are lightweight 50 watt efforts.
 15.
another local bass player!
ha ha, yep, I went out cycling with the club today and it turns out a new guy is also a bass player, some of my best mates play bass, perhaps we are just really nice people It seems less ego threatening being in the prescence of other bass players, guitarists are a bit more sensitive about this sort of thing... so you buyng my cab then vmaxblues ?
 16.
also pretty intrested as this is doom, problem is you're roughly a 2 hour drive away
long old trundle, make a weekend of it, we have some nice countryside down here, and some great bands [ mine mostly ]
 17.
Hmmmmmmmmm..... Don't suppose you're near Bristol any time soon?
Not planning on it but could meet at Tewksbury possibly?
 18. Ok, I have decided to sell this rather lovely [ but seriously distressed ] old cab.. and use the proceeds to buy a 15 inch driver for my Mesa that is farting severely It comes complete with 4 15 inch 50 watt Celetions that need recones. I was going to sort it out but really lack the time and space to justify this and so bought a 4x10 and will also use a 1x15 .. 50 quid , no offers, if it doesn't sell here I will put it on fleabay next free listing day whenever that is I would trade for a good working driver if that is good for anyone . 200-300 watts is plenty. Cheers, Steve. Location Malvern, Worcestershire.
 19. We often play the Lamb in West Malvern, usually full of local musicians [ Malvern has more musicians per acre than anywhere in the universe ] so everyone knows you have muffed it up When I watch other bands there it is clear that plenty of folk do realise when a player has messed up and it sometimes gets a cheer or laugh, Schadenfreude can't be beaten
 20.
Worst mistake of the night was the worst I've ever made: I played the wrong *song* all the way to the first chorus without noticing. I did notice my bandmates staring at me quizzically, but I figured it was because I was being so awesome. Haha. That was about 15 years ago and I haven't drunk before a show since.
I have played the wrong tune in the past, bloody hillarious afterwards but mortifying when you realise half way through. I never have more than a weak shandy before a gig, too many bad experiences in the past, the singer-guitarist is often a bit pissed but no one really cares as long as he keeps it together, tends to talk crap at the audience sometimes though
 21.
I normally have a laugh if it's me and the same if another band member cocks up. Can you add "Have a laugh" to the list of options ?
I dont think I can add an option once the poll has started, the sax player tends to laugh about most things in the band, funny or not, the guitar-voacalist scowls but laughs if drunk, drummer laughs but drummers are usually amused by the situation infront of them and the keyboard player goes a bit pink and carries on
 22. Doh, ok it happens, we all get things wrong... near the end of a long and complex intro section at the start of last nights gig I messed up a change that led to a few moments of chaos in the ranks on stage, I was mortified but the guys laughed it off. I hate totally messing stuff up, how do other players here deal with bad uns at gigs, emotionally later rather than at the moment you do it as you are usually just doing damage limitation... Of course some lucky bastards have never messed it up
 23. Played at a social club last night... the sound was rough on the stage, the bass sounded rasping and it was very loud as it was sort of enclosed on 3 sides and the front was not very wide but the sound out front thankfully according to a couple of people was nice and clear and the rasping bass was not how it sounded either, a relief but off putting.
 24. I started off as a rhythm guitarist in a space rock band...... then much later started playing music with a couple of young guys who despite their youth were brilliant guitarists so bought a bass and got a band together... that lasted about 4 years with local success and an album. Now playing in a band with some excellent musicians, standing with the bass at the back not only can I keep an eye on them I can enjoy the noise they make. I also play in a dub band where the bass is king and I also only have to play sparsely and not full on rock style. close my eyes and chill. Oh yeah I got sacked [ as guitarist ] from a monster space rock outfit a few years ago, better not say who, as my best mate is the bass player in that one..
 25. Yeah , I would join or form a new band and take my tunes with me. If you can't work with the drummer then you can't really work with the band, let the others know that you are going to leave due to your differences [ particularly with the drummer ] , there is no point staying in an abusive band relationship, they sound a bit immature to me. If they are just a bunch of lunch outs and not malicious, some one needs to take control of organising the practices and gigs and letting everyone know where and when and also making sure everyone is available before booking stuff. But tbh it sounds like they are taking the piss out of you.
