1. there was a split in the headstock...options: - remove the split side, glue and reclamp - take the lazy ass approach...
2. forgive me basschat it has been 10 months since my last confession....
3. I've heard of this but I've never actually seen it, this is how jazz bassists are conceived, the bassists release together to increase their chances of impregnating any passing females.
4. Or maybe this...http://loopthetube.com/ (Unchecked....dam ipad won't do flash)
5. Can any one help me transcribe this? http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=dQw4w9WgXcQ
6. Please give it some further consideration before going down this road, it may make your bass playing more simplistic, but I'm pretty sure they don't grow back, and it will probably affect your ability to perform other tasks, like counting. Nose picking options would be less confusing though.
7. Hoozah! Just won a black trc on the bay for 100 ... I have coated the fretboard in polyeurathane ( not bubble wrap) and glued the headstock wings back into place....pics to follow. Need to find some time to finish this wee project.
8. Dudes...Can anyone suggest a product (and brand) to allow me to: -Protect the fret board -Level the fret board (previous owner strung it with barbed wire. Its staying fretless....for now
9. Spotted this on the bay...wow! You must be loaded, or at least you were.... Sound clips please!
10. Wow! I remember your build thread, time flies! You never posted a pic of the finished product.
11.
Hi, I am liking the idea of a pink Ric!! --- Are truss rod covers available?
A pink rick would be unique...But somehow I always forget how lazy, and unskilled I am & how little free time I have before starting these projects... Might just leave it as is... TRC's aren't available new from Rickenbacker, to prevent copies. Which means that suckers can pay over 150 pound for a small piece of plastic from ebay... *slurp* Need some Rick machine heads ....anyone?
12. I can't see why Mr Hall would have any problem with putting real rick parts on a real rick.
13. mmmm white on a cadbury's background
14. Oh yeah... I have: - a chrome bridge - Chrome horseshoe pickup - black pickguard - wiring loom - Black knobs I need: - Chrome tuners - Chrome front toaster pickup - Thomastik flats - TRC If you have any of the above and want to sell...send me a PM please
15.
I don't know much about Rics. Is this a real or a copy? How did it get like that? Bit of history, please?
It's listed on the Rick register here: http://www.rickresource.com/register/viewitem.php?id=27027&bl=%2Fregister%2Findex.php%3Fsearch%3Dtrue%26model%3D39%26strings%3D0%26finish%3D0%26country%3D%26special%3D0%26year%3D%26month%3D%26sn%3D%26celebrity%3D%26butchered%3D1 I assume the chap I bought it from had intended to respray but opted for parting out. The body has a waxy feel so I wondered if the things been oiled in the past, I asked the seller about the history but he never replied.
16. This bass has been severly abused... The lower bout of the body near the cavity has been snapped off in the past and reglued badly. It's been defretted and the fret board has deep gouges. The binding is cracked and spit everywhere. The headstock wings are seprating. Several inlays are cracked. I like it... I wanted another old banger that I could keep around the house without fear the wee ones were going to scratch it...So I was just going to seal the body and protect the fret board leaving it fretless. The grains actually quite nice. However...I really like the idea of a white relic'd rick, or a pink one. Any way... If I can get a white TRC I'll respray white or pink or some such...If I can get black i'll clear coat it... Anyone got a Ricky TRC?
17. I bought this and have been gathering parts for few months...
18.
I believe that may have something to do with our favourite person
Mum?
19. That really is amazing work....sound clips please. May I ask about the headstock? Why change the design from the original?
20. Would Brass have been strong enough for the tail piece? Steel is quite difficult to shape no? (I suppose it's easier to weld....) For what it's worth... I really don't like stringing up Rick tail pieces.... the dam strings fall out the seat / 'channel' before you can apply tension. I thought a better design would have been to make use of a hole 'through' the harp shaped end rather than a cut 'channel'.
21. The pick guard was put together in photoshop, and the image was printed via snappy snaps, I ordered a clear perspex 4005 pick guard at pasted the two together. I was so close to doing the waterfall image on the bass body but went the easy road. Heaton Park was....Awesome! Mani & Reni were nothing short of incredible, squire was sublime, and brown a kareoke classic, only joking he was really great. We managed to get pretty close after primal scream and stayed there as long as my bladder could hold out.
22. Been following this on talkbass for a while (3years? )...how are you going to finish off this awesome bass? Natural...fireglo...blueboy...pollockglo? Love the idea of the M tail piece. How are you going to achieve that? also...I'd like to see the 3/4 Rick 360 when you start, keep us posted....
