1. @essential tension...its his band so he sorts of calls the shots. but as prime bass says ive argued the toss and said why dont we just drop a fret problem sorted what do i know im only a bass player and apparently we know sod all
2.
Drop C is too high for her? Is her name Brian Blessed?
i actually laughed out loud when i read that
3. nah no horns in sight lol. a lot of the songs are in c#,d so i suppose they think to satisfy her we have to detune. only thing is some of the songs are quite fast and downtuned to Bf it will just sound like a load of mush as mr vader said theres loads of open strings so will sound like a wall of sh*t. anyway what do i know im still the new guy myopinion if a singer says the songs are still to high when we are tuned down to drop c then their not right for the band
4. i got the tuner with mine as well its awesome it pick up lower tunings super easy
5. ill keep this as short as possible.......... so joined a band few months ago just as singer left, all songs are in drop c so C.G.C.F had a few rehearsals everything is really tight, then singers start asking about joining the band. the one singer who the guitarist and drummer love at her audition starts saying the songs are to high can we lower the key/tuning ect so since then ive now been told by the guitard that were tuning to Bf,F,Bf,Ef (is this even a recognised tuning) i only have a 4 string so now i gotta re-set up my bass tross rod saddles ,the works even though it might not work out with her what a frigging pain in the backside
6. great thread bass- me drums-gavin harrison-porcupine tree keyboards-jordan rudess-dream theater guitars-brent hinds-mastodon vocals-russell allen-symphony x my prog wet dream
7. got my first audition in a longggggggggg time on saturday and to be honest im bricking it. guitarist says come up with what like aslong as it fits the song(obviously) so im coming up with all this melodic stuff(ive always been guilty of trying to over play) i got a bit stuck so i asked the guitarist for some guidance as the songs are in drop c and the speakers on my laptop are pants turns out the last bass player played something really easy so i can relax a bit (and breathhhhhhhhhhhhh) j

13. i posted on here last night about tuning issues im having regards to tuning down and tuners not registering the notes. seeing as when we start learning we learn in standard tuning and for me its easier to find the notes in standard tuning and its just what im used to what i want to know is does anyone only play in standard and refuse everything else ie bands that tune down ?
14. im using a ibanez sr300 mainly.reckon ill just have to go for a better quality tuner
15. thats looks great.nice and compact as well
16. ive even tried that both on 12th and the 5th. my friend has a pedal tuner which seems to work fine. but i want something small i can chuck in my gig not a big pedal and dont wanna fork out if i dont have to dont know if im just beiong a dick and doing something wrong
17. hi guys been a while since posting hope everyone is fine and dandy. my band tune to either drop c or standard d. i have 2 boss tuners which tune both basses and guitars when i try and tune my bass both tuners take ages to pick up the signals from the strings and it goes from b straight to d and does not go to c even tuning to standard d takes ages even if i try to tune with the harmonics its a right ball ache.sometimes its taken me 15 minutes just to tune up i have tried 3 basses the intonation on my basses is great so i know that isnt the prob if i didnt have small hands id just buy a bloody 5er someone help for christs sake and save what sanity i have left

22.
I have no idea what doom/industrial is, but in my bass playing experience overplaying in the studio always kills a number dead. It's very hard to screw up a song by underplaying. If you come away thinking I could have played more then you probably got it just right.
+1 good point
