  1. I did similar but with two white/maple Precisions. One had some wear to the body but a pristine neck, the other was the opposite with wear to the neck and pristine body so I swapped necks to have one bass with wear on body & neck, the other to be in pristine condition all over.

I saw this bass in a video - blew my head off as an emerging manc bass player.

”NOEL’S PLAYING A RICKY BASS! WTF is it?!”

Always thought it was a bit of a dig that the first post-Guigsy oasis tune had a really prominent bass part.

Agree, bass far more prominent in the mix and doing a lot more as well. Def a case of band leader guitarist on bass methinks.

I only know 2 guitarists using Gibson guitars, and they finally swapped them out for the Burney and Orville versions.

I know a fair few who’ve done similar with swapping their Les Paul Customs for Tokai Love Rocks.

  4. Yup, for pickups Tonerider. I’d also consider changing the electrics at the same time to a KiOgon (Basschat member) loom with Fender US specs. For one it makes the install of new pickups easier and secondly in many cases the reason Squiers sound twangier than Fenders is the pots, often 500s as oppose to the 250s that Fender use.

I wouldn't even be able to think about buying one as they don't seem to offer any mustangs in the CS range. If they did it would be interesting to see how they could possibly be an improvement over the JMJ.

Very good point, I love my JMJs, they’re amazingly good instruments.

The real mind-boggler is what do you get that is so much better with a Fender Master Built bass over a ‘standard’ Custom Shop.

Given their price point is several thousand pounds above a ‘standard’, I don’t see where that extra value is.

A few years back I played a Master Built Strat, it was hands down the best guitar I`ve ever played. I`d gone to buy an SG from a private sale and although it was a good guitar I left with it feeling decidedly disappointed after playing said Strat.

  7. Yep, 125 watts (assuming it’s exactly half power of the 250) into a 112 is a big ask in a band scenario. That amp might be ok with two of those 112s as a temporary measure but I’d be wanting a bit more I think.
