1. Thanks Denzel, we both me and mr Keller put alot of efford into it to get it right.. I recently saw a refinned? Oly white Original '66 jazz album by member drums1977 ITS as if looking at the same bass... That bass has a slightly broader binding on the neck then my original '66 neck has or my replica neck, I do have the feeling they where smaller in the early period and went broader/bigger onward.. Again Fender experimented with binding aswell I even have heard of "T" profile binding on a '66 jazz that had a custom color... So appearance does vary in those times.
2. Ok I did my best to get an album doing a comparison of original body and neck to the replica.. I was quite pleased how close it actually is, I never looked myself as the body and neck where never unpacked once I got all the stuff back. Here is the album: http://s26.photobucket.com/user/Brams77/slideshow/1966%20jazz%20bass%20replica few randoms:
3. I could the original body is aged/relic'd in sunburst and I have to get both out of the packing iTS in now.. But ill seewhat I can do..
4. hirez slideshow http://s26.photobuck...ms77/slideshow/
5. @Emanew Oh thats quite simple mr Keller wanted some pics for his website, since it's not alowed to use a logo like that for business purposes he had his own logo fitted. The logos go ontop of the finish as too in those days and it was easy to swap it for the old fret '66 logo. Sure ill could do higher res pics... Ill get those done..
6. Well no technically its 925,- But go google an original set of lollypop tuners or a '66 bridge or a tort pickguard in the same mine is in.. You'll prolly find it isn't even half bad.
7. @antti thanks, yes it's one of the best jazzes i've played, altho neck and body are new it sounds like an old one @peterkas thanks Roberto @sumatra thanks Luca @bassman Sam I already had added a link for that in the original post.. But here is it again:) First noodle is with both pickups on full second walking bass part is the front pickup soloed third is both with a slightly sweeter tone setting Fourth the back pickup with the tone slightly rolled off and the slap part is with the neck pickup soloed, maybe I had better done this with both pickups, but even that sounds great aswell. This is straight into the soundcard no eq-ing https://soundcloud.c...azz-bass-sample And some extra pics with crappy iPhone as someone asked me for some additional shots of the back of the headstock and the fingerboard, notice the long pores.. I beg anyone not to start about fingerboard woods... Really not interested in discussions about that subject:) Also should tell the neck has a neck stamp aswell;) pics of that later on...
8. Up for sale something special I guess. This bass was constructed by Keller guitars from scratch using the original neck and body (whom I recently sold) and where meticulously traced and even xrayed for the insides to get it as close as possible. Mr Keller even had the very scarse wood (BR) for the finger board and I managed to get the celluloid dot material for the face dots. The body is alder in 3 pieces like the original and everything is shot in nitro with a matching headstock with '66 logo from the old fret, making it one of the most desirable jazzes around. I recently sold the original bass with the original hardware, but I still have the replica body for sale. If anyone functies a 66 project, this would be as good as it gets neck and body, ill throwing a fender F neckplate and control plate.. The is up to you to mopake it a complete bass again... As far as the sound of this bass (when it was still a complete bass) it's prolly the best jazz ive owned, it has a quite big warm sound. I even love the front pickup soloed like a big p bass, the Jaco sound is there, ofcourse that typical '60 jazz sound and slap sound is great aswell, you cant go wrong. 700 pounds for the best replica parts ive come across!!! 12.
+1 Years ago, I had a pre Gibson Tobias Classic 5, and it was one of the most resonant and funky sounding basses that I've ever had! Same Bart pick ups and pre as this, so this Standard model should be one hell of a great sounding bass! Good price too for a quality through neck instrument, IMO. In the end, I couldn't really ever get used to the 17.5 mm string spacing, but it was fun while it lasted... GLWTS
A standart has different pickups, instead of the revers split coils the US tobiasses have (that are also curved) this one has humbucker soapbars so it'll sound a little darker. Anyway I talked about these with Mike himself, and he Spoke very highly of these, so yeah if your into Tobias basses these are very sweet and also gentile on the wallet! I always wanted a black one tho;)
13. Oh and for anyone who didn't know these have an older Bart tct preamp but the mid pot is located inside the control cavity.. These are fantastic preamps!

SOLD

Price reduction on the Elrick people 1100 pounds and it's yours, the lightest bass I ever got to play and beautiful Woody tone and great preamp. May also be interested in a PX with a late 80s or very early 90s stingray 5 string
15. OOOH thats nice;) I love these!
16. I'm sort of a Tobias knowledgeable person;) This is a Tobias Standard 5 which was made in Nagoya Japan and assembled in Burbank USA by Mikes crew. Great basses indeed! The line was Standard (Japan) Model T (made by Pedulla) Basic,Classic, Signature (Burbank)

SOLD

Ok.. Because I sold all my beloved pre eb stingray basses, I'm a bit home sick.. I might consider a trade deal, deal depending on which bass trade in ofcourse (Tobias or Elrick) I would like an older EB 4 string stingray 1985 to 1989 or.. an early EB stingray 5 1989 to 1993.. As long as they have the figured maple necks. I like black, trans teal green, trans red ones or the blue burst ones they had in those days.. Maple boards I like most... Show me what yo got..
