1. That's alright - do you have a Warwick Alien for sale or something - or were you going to add a link?
  2.
Nice Warwick Alien going here!
I can't see how that is relevant!
  3. This is the pick guard that I took off my 1999 Fender USA Precision to put a black one on. £12 delivered. Three-ply white/black/white. A little faded here and there (which I guess is a good thing). Good condition all-round - no problems.
  4. SOLD!!!! My 15 channel Samson passive mixing desk. Used this for the last three years at half of our gigs. Rock solid device. 2 main outs and two configurable aux outs. 5 XLR inputs and 10 jack inputs - plus stereo tape (or MP3) in and outs Comes with power lead and carry bag £50 posted to you. PS: wine and coffee mug are for size perspective (they're not included)
  5. For sale, my 20 metre multicore stage box (drum). In as new condition. £45 to you - posted. If you're after one of these, you'll know what it is and what they're for. I bought this to allow our sound man to operate the mixing desk from the middle to back of the room at small pub gigs. We used it about 4 times and then had to do the sound ourselves on-stage as we lost the sound guy. Now we've got a digital desk that works wirelessly using an iPad - so we don't need it.
  6. Aha Mr Williams. I have one of these very things. You'll love it. Try the stock patch which says Power Pop!
  7. What would one of these be expected to fetch?
  8.
If you want little, and more than adequate for a pub then you have to try the AER amp one unless the cost is too great. It's a one off that you need to eliminate from your enquiries, tiny, manageable and sounds fabulous.
I play one of these for a lot our pub gigs. Three-piece, loud thumping pro drummer and guitarist with Hot Rod Deluxe (louder than a Marshall 100) guitar amp. Easily keeps pace with them, fits in the footwell of the passenger seat in my car. I actually have two of them, just in case we play a bigger place, but rarely use two nowadays - never actually NEED to use 2nd one. More often than not, I use it without any PA support. The musos in the crown always ask which amp I'm playing through and can't believe when they see the answer. It's not just the size and build quality. The quality of the tone is amazing. A genius of an amp - higher in quality of construction than anything out else out there. 9.
I still vote korean crossdresser.
Careful though, she's a proper musician whom we should admire.
  10.
I reckon that's actually a cross-dressing Korean ...
I see what you mean. She's called Caroline Campbell. She also plays keyboards for Cradle of Filth when they tour.
  11.
That's all the proof anyone needs to say women can't play bass.........
How very dare you sir! http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=vgWUfRNeT7E
  12. Update before new "review" thread. Picked the PA up yesterday. It's as follows:

2 x DLM12 tops
1 x DLM12S sub
an extra DLM12 as a floor monitor (was gonna get the DLM8 for that, but then thought "what the hell"
DL806 digital mixer with iPad interface (no need to go for the 16 channel version for my application)
Also got a couple of speaker poles and a bag - plus all of the bags and covers for all of the speakers and the mixer. I'll spare you the "unboxing video" but let's say it took some time. It comes in huuuuge boxes with plenty of padding everywhere - so unlikely that these will be damaged in transit. All looks fine right out of the box. Although, you will struggle to get these home in those boxes unless you have a large estate or van. It's all plugged in and assembled in my library and ready to be put through its paces tonight and to perform a pre-set up for tomorrow's gig. Unfortunately, only the bag for the mixer came with them. The others are stuck in transit and will be 10 days or so. Three things that I noticed from the off:

There are no manuals in the boxes (other than electrical safety instructions). Although, they are online as pdf docs.
You need a specialist tool to add and remove the iPad - which was supplied. However, there is nowhere on the unit or in the unit's custom gig bag to store the tool. If you lose the tool, your iPad stays there forever .... or until you buy a new tool. Hmmmm
If you want to use the iPad, another iPad (or up to 10 iPhones etc) to control the mixer remotely, you need to buy a separate wireless access point to plug into the unit. That's a bit of a "miss" as it surely it could transmit its own wireless signal?
Anyway, hopefully will post a video review after Friday's gig.
  13. Not my kind of music or bass playing - but very good. Well done these men.
  14. Now all sold. A big thank you to Stevie on here for pedalling this out to his band mates. The Lady of Darkness will be ecstatic now that these aren't getting in the way of the doors of the great hallway. For sale is my trusty Roland SA-300 PA system and / or keyboard amplifier. - with flight case. It is a 350 watt integrated stereo PA which has an in-built mixer with loads of inputs and outputs, plus reverb, delay and feedback destroyer It is designed to be used as one of those Pas which go behind the performers (see video below) - but I have been using it as a FOH pa system for small gigs. I have also been using it for smaller dinner party gigs, for acoustic gigs and home recording, rehearsal etc. Wonderful sounding thing which consists of the PA head (with integrated 2 x 6.5" speakers) and a bass bin with a 12" woofer in there. I also have an additional one of the 1x12 bass bins which I'll include. Flight case is sprayed with our band logo - but I can overspray that black before delivery if you want. 15.
Of couse, me writing this is all meaningless if you still have me on block!
I've forgotten it ever happened. That was then. I will expect a meaningful comment on the video review I'm doing and posting at the weekend though.
  16.
Excellent, very curious to hear your thoughts once used in anger. Is this the desk you can control with an iPad? You will DEFINITELY reap the benefits of micing the kick and dribbling a bit of bass through too. Can't see why your drummer would need convincing in any case, it will be a vast improvement. Well done.
Yep - I got the DL806 thing that you control via an iPad. I have an iPad 3 (horribly out of date I know). It was only £200 more for the 16 channel version - but there's no real point in a three piece. It'll be in my library for the next couple of nights on test to see if I can pre set it up before we get there on Friday. As I said, I'll try to do a review video.
  17. Scored one of these. Picking it up this afternoon. 2 x DLM tops, 1 x DLM12S sub, DL digital desk with iPad and iPhone interface - plus another DLM 12 as a monitor. Poles and cables and all cases. Bill was a couple of quid more than £4K. Will be using it on Friday at a pub gig. Should be some headroom in this. The config here shows that the desk goes into the sub and the sub goes to the two tops via a built in high pass filter - which is also configurable. I have learned a bit from the little pieces of advice I gleaned here (very helpful BTW - thanks). I'll see if I can convince the drummer to mic up his kick and I'll put a touch of my bass via the foldback monitor. I'll see if I can do a video review over the weekend. 18. Ashdown MiBass 550 with a Barefaced Big Baby 2. Won't need no extension cab with that. Will do anything from quiet to brian filleting loud.
  19.
I'm not sure what type of music you play, but prepare for the feedback. I use to own a few acoustic bass for church use and because the church music require low deep bass note (simple stuff), i actually have problem with feedback when sustaining a note .....
Yep. Thanks for the tip. That is one of those things that really need to be watched with amplified acoustic bass I know. I'm fully aware that acoustic will give feedback problems - plus a budget bass might not help that. I have a sound hole cover that I can use - which will help a teeny bit. Thing is, I'm sure we're going to be asked to play sooooo quietly, that the feedback issue will be lessened. But I do take your point. We play uptempo pop songs which sound a bit like they would sound if The Stranglers were doing covers of them like: Disco 2000, Happy Hour by The Housemartins, Stand and Deliver, Video Killed the Radio Star, Park Life, Mamma Mia etc.
  20. Hooray. I needed to get a hold of an electro acoustic bass for a party gig this weekend as the landlady, at the last minute, has banned "electric" guitars. I used to have a Fender Kingman (pretty cool, sound good and good value) but sold it on here. I was looking for loaners and also hire shops ...... but then came across one on Gear 4 Music. For !!!!!!!!! £95 plus postage (I paid £5.66 for the next days service). Main thing was, they offer a money back if you don't like it within 14 days. So I thought, what is there to lose. If it's really terrible, it'll probably still get me through the gig. It's a three-piece and paying £300 - so the gig fee covers the bass! It has arrived. And do you know what? ........ It's fine. Plays alright, neck feels good, no buzzing, nothing looks wonky .... in fact, it's quite handsome looking. I haven't plugged it in yet and don't expect the best ever sound - acoustic basses tend to sound "thuddy" anyway, so as long as it makes low notes, I won't be bothered. Of course, an electro-acoustic bass won't necessarily sound any quieter than an electric bass when plugged in - but I won't mention that to the landlady. I'm sure the acoustic look of the thing will calm her fears at least psychologically. A win in my book.
  21. EBS Freak. Can you please stop trolling and ruining this thread? I find you very rude and not helpful. When you said "Go buy your next piece of sh*t and get sh*tty results with that." I switched off. I wrote you off as someone who tried to force his opinion on others in a very rude manner. I am surprised that the mods haven't come along and mentioned this. I visited you profile to send you a PM to try to sort the matter out amicably - but just as I was doing so, I noticed that you waded in with yet another rude comment. So I didn't bother. I'm not interested mate. I assume you have some self-esteem problem. I have a lot of very good info from this thread - and I'm sure it has been interesting to other too. Please stop trolling the thread - or at least try not to bother me.
  22.
To be fair, I thought that Bose say that this rig is SUPPOSED to go behind the band? This is why I suspect the OP has it set up as such. I can't see it working for a rock band though.
Yeah, this is the problem. I am fully aware that it is unconventional (daft even) to contemplate placing a PA behind the band. It goes against all logic - you're bound to get feedback right? However, Bose do this L1 product which is actually DESIGNED to go behind the band. They claim all sorts of clever electronics stop it from feeding back. The upside to this, is that the band gets to hear the PA, exactly as the audience hears it. Great. I spent about £3k on one and it has been superb for our quieter gigs where the drummer uses brushes or hot rods and we (the bassist and guitarist) use amplified acoustics or just very quiet electrics. I was told by the tech guys at Bose, that it should be fine for a small rock setting too .... but it isn't. It's not loud enough. I mean, it might be. The Bose guys tell me that if I set it up perfectly to each venue, then it'll have plenty of volume and no feedback. Now, I've tried all the settings they say and it sorta works, but is not 100% reliable. So, my thought was to get another one - then I'd have enough volume before the feedback cuts in. We have tried two of them (we borrowed on of the Model 1s from a dealer) - but we got the same problem. I have again been assured by the Bose guys that, with the right tweaking this will be fine. I'm sure they are right, but, to be honest, I figured there must be an easier way to go compact. We just don't have the time and inclination to do so much set up before each gig. The Mackie DLM units seem a good option to me. It'll will also give us the option of putting more via the PA if we want to.
  23.
I would have thought then, you wouldnt be making the novice mistakes that you have talked about in this thread. If you read back through the thread, Ive tried to be nothing but helpful. Go buy your next piece of sh*t and get sh*tty results with that. Time doesnt equal skills gained if the time invested is learning bad practice. Its the same with playing the bass. If that rule stood, everybody on here would have many bass greats standing in their shadow. I repeat what I said earlier. Good luck. :-)
I was looking for advice on selecting kit - and all you did was troll me. You did that on one of my previous threads. You are now blocked.
  24. Well, "just saying" EBS freak that I have been setting up PAs in band for a long time. At least every other week for the last couple years. And for a long time before that. So, I guess I know what to do - so I have much more than basic skills and rudimentary knowledge. But thanks for your kind advice!
