    Thanks for the replies. I'll go serching and gather some more information and post my findings. I'm also considering using an EV EVM-15L i have sitting here and get a cab made for it with the plans of a T606 i got from the web. Looks like the cheapest solution for now and i'll get to keep the TE :)

    That doesn't show on the link! Only £857! All the others have the special offer undeneath the price! And she's "only" 600W@4Ohms and the Supertwelve will go up tp 1000W@4Ohms... I'm still very leaned to Alex's cabs for a keeper.

    Oh!, just confirmed that the Promethean is only 250W... Thomann almost tricked me! That one is out of the list.

    Yeah, i've thought about it. I'll see what comes up after making a few calls.

    I want a cheap stop gap but with some sound quality so it can be true to my TRB-5PII trough the 9.0. Any builder making cheap quality uncolouring cabs (behringer, ashdown, laney)?

    You're right, but comming out of TE gear and having bought a head weighting a feather i realy am looking for a light cab.
    I've seen the Neox 212T, she's the kind of cab i would buy to keep but the Supertwelve T looks so much better and has better specs in every point for a fairly smaller price...

    I tink i'll take the TE to the store and see how much tey give me for it and what cabs they have available and recommend me.

    In the meanwile if you know of any great deal within my lookings in here or e-bay send a PM.
    I'll keep this up to date when i have more news. Keep those sugestions comming :rolleyes:

    My current budget is 300€ (around 250£) to use in a trade plus the TE or to buy a used or new one. I realy don't mind having an underated cab because i want to sell it in a couple of months and get the Barefaced. I just need something to get me trough this period with the minimum quality and reliability and, like i said, can be easily moved with minimum value loss.
    If anybody here has a cab for sale that could fill this mesures and is willing to ship to Portugal give me a notice :)

    @Musicman20 - A friend of mine who's opinon i trust just told me he tried the head with Aguilar and EBS cabs (didn't specify wich of them) at a store and got the impression they didn't sound so good with the GB as they're own amps. He tolled me to get a Bergantino for it.

    What about other kind of more "common" cab makes? GK, Hartke, SWR, Markbass,... anything good, compact and cheap?

    Hi, i'm waiting for the arrival of my new 9.0 within a couple of weeks. I've decided that i'm going for Alex's cabs to go with it but still haven't decided wich:

    Amp:
    Shuttle 9.0: 500@8Ohm or 900W@4Ohm

    Cabs:
    Midget T: 600W@8Ohm
    Supertwelvw T: 1000W@4Ohm

    My current financial situation does not alow me to get a barefaced cab for a couple of months but i need a cab to play. I'm not doing any big gigs having my band on a short pause to try and reinvent itself, mostly home practice and some quiet gigs with semi-accoustic guitars and a great drumer (does not play loud, knows his place in the song, a rarity!).

    I also have the possibility to propose my local musicshop a trade of my Trace Elliot GP12-X 1x15" ([url="http://picasaweb.google.com/106572846091439162015/TraceElliot1215GP12X#slideshow/5509231183298746082"]pics[/url]) combo with a new cab.
    Or perhaps Alex would be happy to accept it in a trade for a Supertwelve?!!... :)

    I'm looking for your experience to sugest me a cab that would cope with the 9.0 and maybe some personal remarks over the models that may appear in this thread.
    What i want in the cab:
    - Light;
    - Powerfull;
    - Good sounding without signal colouration;
    - Easy to sell in a near future without much loss of value;
    - 8 or 4 Ohms, don´t think i'll need more than the 500W@8Ohms for a long time;

    I'm finding my searches to lead me very often to the Promethean 110, what do you think of it? Will the cone blast out of the box with the first slap?

    You could DIY a hook up of your bass's DC-IN to an external power supply with voltage regulation (by an expression pedal) and control the amount of energy feeded to your bass causing the distortion you like on the fly!
    Just a crazy thought! :lol:

    I don't agree. With true-bypass you have your signal passing directly trough the pedal without any interference from this. If the pedal's power (battery or psu) fails during a music you can simply turn the pedal off and keep playing - you can't do this with other pedals.

    In that case put your 15"er up for trade for a 18"er. But in your case i would try a crossover on both cabs to try tailoring their sound to your flavour first. If it works you would get the sound you are looking for with less expenses and less weight. i realy don't believe the 18"ers would go so further down than a 15"er to have such a great impact! I think you would get more punch in your sound but the 15" is low enough :)

    Try it all and go for whatever makes you happy! That's the most important thing.

    Why on earth do you want more than a 1x15"+2x10"??? I had the same setup ( 300W GP12 head + 1x15" + 2x10"H ) and could never go past 4/10 in volume without starting to overwriting the bar's PA (not to mention the rest of the band :) )!

    You should know that TE's 300W are pretty much the same as modern makes's 500W or more! With a stack of a 300W head + 1x18" + 4x10"H cranked up i'm shure you could knock down some thick walls :rolleyes:

    Seing that you're all talking about amp construction quality and durability i would like to ask if anyone knows anything about Genz Benz construction quality, the Shuttle series to be more acurate. I'm waiting for my new 9.0 to arrive in a couple of weeks and want to know if i have to keep my ears up for a possible amp problem. I don't fancy spending a lot of money in gear to end up with a faulty piece of s**t! Thats why i've already had 3 Trace Elliot amps (and i'll be keeping one) with absolutely no problem with any of them and all built with top components :)

    I replaced mine GP12-X valve with a EHX 12AX7. The original valve was still fine but the EHX brought a warmer, clearer and more balanced sound. I advise you to try a few of them and go for the one you like best.
    Examples:
    EHX
    Mullard
    Groove Tubes
    Sovteck

    And i'm lacking a lot more but somebody else will pick up from here and give a better insight on each. For the price they are selling you can get the top three from your research and have them a go.
