MTD Kingston Artist

Fellow bassists,

I went into a local music shop to try a rick the other day and was sorely disheartened by what I played. However one of these caught my eye. It was reduced as it was a 'b' spec one (the paint was wrong, ordered as black but it's a sort of translucent green. Personally I think it looks the dogs danglies). It's the single humbucker 4 string version with a maple neck.

I played it unplugged for about two minutes before I had to head off to get my bus, and it was the single most playable thing i've had my hands on. Super-fast jazz(ish) profile neck, great string spacing and very slappable.

It's on sale in the shop for 595 but I get on very well with the guy who runs the shop and he said if i was interested because of the paint he'd knock a bit off.

I was wondering on what your experiences are of the MTD Kingston range? I'd heard of them before but never played one. How versatile is the single humbucker and the 3eq on it? What else would you reccomend for under £800?

Cheers,

Parker

I had a Kingston with one humbucker, so possibly the same model. The single most playable bass I have ever played. I just didn't get on with the tone and sold it when I needed some cash.

I got mine for around £180 off ebay but that was a good 5 or 6 years ago.
