GigBaby for iphone

I purchased this on iTunes the other day and think that it could be quite handy but have not had much time to play with it yet. I am initially struggling to understand how I can use it record 2 or different bass parts over a drum track.

If anyone knows this app and uses it then some advice for an absolute home recording novice would be greatly appreciated!

Well actually just getting bass recorded to begin with!

It seems to me that you can only record using the microphone and then the sound quality is sh*te!

Yeah tried that and it isn't great! Must remember thought that this a mobile phone and not a Boss Micro Studio!
Yeah, there's the rub. No real way around it, as I say I just use it for acoustic guitar and vocals, just to get ideas down. All I can really suggest is amping up the bass and seeing if the ambient mic pics up on it.
i'm sure you can get a specific mini jack to jack adaptor for the iphone.
Peterson do one i'm sure you can get cheaper ones though: http://www.petersontuners.com/index.cfm?ca...w&itemID=39
This lets you plug the bass or something else in like a mixer output.

Looks pretty handy - if only it had a drum machine built into it.

Anyone tried one?

Surely this wouldn't work as the only mini jack on an iphone or ipod is the headphone socket which is an output?

The iphones, and 2nd gen iphone touches have a 4 connector mini jack (TRRS), which will allow you to plug in a microphone/line in jack. If you've got the headphones/headset that came with the iphone the ones with the volume buttons and microphone, you should see that the mini jack has 4 connectors, TRRS, rather than just the TRS of a stereo mini jack.

Something to gawp over...

http://www.gear4music.com/Recording-and-Co...-and-iPhone/AR6

The Peterson adapter cable stops you then using headphones while recording, so if that's an issue then you can also look at PRS's solution - http://www.prscables.com/guitarbud

However, PRS didn't get back to me on how well it copes with lower frequencies.
