Hi, Lazy question I know

Just sold my old combo amp which I use for playing along to MP3s with Headphones on

And now wish to purchase something that will do that at home taking less space, and provide me with more choice of effects than needed for my covers bands and new gigging tuner would be handy

So an Multi FXs unit is on the cards


BTW I have an old (very old) zoom 3000b which I use only as a tuner these days, would it be an insult to offer it for sale? I know I would'nt get alot but it may make someone happy

Line 6 Bass POD XT hands down if it was me.

The ME50B is not bad... but when it comes to the BOSS I prefer the guitar version, the ME-50.
Just because of the types of effects I prefer, rotary, tremelo, univibe, all kinds of delay.
The ME50B is what BOSS thinks bassists need most. Like synths and stuff.
But hey, that's just me. The ME50B has its fans.
I'm a fan of the guitar version for use on bass. Works just as well, just other effects at your disposal.


The POD is in a different league.
Except for drive and synth effects (which suck on almost any multiFX IME) all the effects on the Line 6 are very nice.
Modulations, delays, reverbs... very nice sound quality.
And the amp modelling.

You got to be into that.
But witchcraft or not, I dare any bassist to try the Sub Dub amp model on a POD and not be blown away.

A POD will keep you up all night. Has a lot of possibilities.
For real use of effects I think it's better than the BOSS ME-50B.

I had all the PODs.
I have a love/hate relationship with them. I love the concept, but each time I go back to seperate effects and real amps.

I like the pod too. It's very simple to use & sounds great

Only MFX I've had was an ME-50B.

Useful & effective compressor, high-band distortion was nice and didn't sap low end, chorus was good, tuner could have been fine, but I always preferred to use my Korg DT-10.

Switching lag time was too present to use live, though I did for a couple of years. I wanted to pluck the note and hit the patch pedal on the one of a part, but the signal dropped for a split second on the switch - noticeable & frustrating.

In summary, it has very useable sounds, but can be frustrating live.

I'm currently leaning towards separates, but not ruling out a Zoom B9.1ut.
