Hi everyone hope your all well .
just a quick thing so i have been using my 78 jazz for the last year and have been very happy.but my dad had a 90s stingray been in the loft for years :) and never really been that bothered over it.
so i get it out of the loft put some new strings on it then raise the pick up and starts to feel very nice.so of i go to my motown gig a bit worried to what people might say and yes they all asked where the jazz man .so i pug it in to my ebs 4x10 and HD350 do the gig and people said the bass was amazing and it was the first time that every member could hear every note i was playing .i am very inpressed with it and have a funny feeling i may have to use this a lot more .but the best thing was it was so light .
anyway i just wanted to see peoples views on the early stingrays .thanks for reading guys
I wouldn't say a 90s stingray was early! I think they are real workhorse basses though. I personally like them better than jazzes, i like the pickup and the feel of the neck. It's amazing how many tones you can get out of one pickup really.
Yes, isn't it.

Been using jazzes & precisions for years - Sei also. Recently bought a 96 Stingray on impulse. Must say I'm well impressed for the £600 I paid. As you rightly point out, main difference is that the Stingray cuts through the mix particularly high up the neck.
