handman Posted Tuesday at 18:56 Posted Tuesday at 18:56 I have the old mini mark 802, played quite a few gig with it, soul, funk and old school house , whilst we are not the loudest band the performance has always been good, I've never wanted for volume or extension, like most things in life I suppose it depends, but I like the convenience and provided your not looking for ear bleeding levels then I think the n300 , would fit the bill. Thanks dude. I'm coming to the conclusion that it would be enough for me. There seem to be enough people using both the older and new versions with good results. There is a similar discussion on TalkBass right now, and one guy is gigging the N300 and reckons it is more powerful than the older version because of the more conventional eq controls, as much as the extra 50 watts. https://www.talkbass.com/threads/markbass-combo-2x8-oder-2x10.1683078/#post-29462118 Edited Wednesday at 10:40 by LombardPhill Forgot link Quote
fretmeister Posted Wednesday at 11:38 Posted Wednesday at 11:38 Un-mic'd drums. Who's playing them is the question. Bernard Purdy or Dave Lombardo? Quote
synthaside Posted Wednesday at 14:16 Posted Wednesday at 14:16 (edited) I would really try to find a older used CMD121p Combo, I went down this route for a long time before I moved to an ampless setup , The cmd121p is perfectly loud enough for a 50-100 person gig... at perfectly giggable stage level volume with just the combo part ... but you can send a XLR line out to the PA for even more volume ... Or add any cheap ... or matching cab later down the line to use the full 500 watts of the Little mark head unit. I'm not sure what they are going for used these days £350 - 400 ? But would foot the bill Edited Wednesday at 14:18 by synthaside Quote
LawrenceH Posted 1 hour ago Posted 1 hour ago I gig either one or two 1x10 cabs. Always enough between them. Often enough just one of them, though I prefer the tonal balance of two together. Generally the bigger the driver the better the weight/volume(size)/volume(loudness) ratio. Suggesting that 1x12" is a great size for a single cab solution. But I went with 2 1x10" because two lighter cabs is an easier carry. Along similar lines, I have recently thought about swapping to 2 2x8" because that slim tall form factor, while less efficient in terms of displacement volume and weight, is even easier to store at home and would make a great small-footprint vertical stack on stage. If only Markbass did a matching 802 passive cab it would be a perfect little modular setup which I'd imagine would cover most use cases. As it is I'd probably look at a pair of the Trace 2*8 cabs which AFAIK use the excellent little 8PR200 driver from Faital. But if you don't mind adding a non-matching box further down the line the Markbass does look good to me. Quote
