Meridian Vimana 6 Cocobolo
£1500
Duesseldorf/Germany

This compact, high-quality travel bass is manufactured in small quantities by Meridian Guitars, a guitar/bass maker in Avezzano, in the heart of Italy.

The model offers a scale length of 21.5-23.0 inches. The variable scale length is created by Dingwall's famous fanned frets, with the lowest string having the longest scale length, which then becomes shorter and shorter towards the higher strings. The tuning is E to F. In order to achieve this tuning with the super-short scale length, normal 6-string strings are used, e.g. .130 to .028. The strings are screwed onto the nut and then simply cut off. The tuning is adjusted at the bridge.
The entire bass is only 73 cm long and weighs 2.6 kg.

Body: Okume
Top: Cocobolo
Fretboard: Wenge 16 radius, 24 frets
Scale: Fanned frets 21.5 - 23 inch scale
Pickup: Delano H Times Square
Bridge: Brass headless bridge
Preamp: Vol/Tone, coil tap switch
Overall length: 72.9 cm
Aluminium stripes side dot
Body thickness: 35 mm
Zero fret and carbon fibre nut
Weight: 2.6 kg

It's amazing what a mature sound comes out of this super-compact instrument. The fanned frets take some getting used to, but once you've got the hang of them, playing is actually quite quick and clean.

The body has a few minor battle scars. I've tried to capture these in the pictures. Overall, however, this Vimana is in top condition and the quality and appearance are truly high-end.

The original canvas gig bag is included as well as the original exclusive leather bag from Meridian, which is not available anymore.

I received this bass from Rogier van W. who joined David Garrett on his world tour 2023/24 and used this bass as a backup.

Asking 1500 GBP / 1.700 EUR plus shipping from Duesseldorf/Germany.

No trades please !

That is the coolest bass on BassChat right now and I want it... but with a new kitchen and bathroom being fitted this month, I shall sadly just have to lust after it.
