Fitting Newtone Strings

Afternoon all,

 

I'm having a first go with Newtone stings. Fitting a set to a recently acquired Tanglewood/Overwater 5 string. Newtone insist that strings suffer if they're cut before being brought up to tension, but how am I supposed to manage that? Uncut strings leave way too much spare to wind around the machine head peg. Anybody else come across this? What did you do?

Round Core benefit from being bent before cutting, to stop the core unwinding. Perhaps this is what is meant?

Although i do it with all strings, why wouldn't you.

Yeah I’m thinking bending ought to do the trick but Newtone say nothing about that option. I’ve emailed them.
