I spent most of the three years I was a student in or around Denmark Street in the mid 80s. I went back a few years ago and was disappointed by how it is now.

I used to buy a copy with some of the earnings from my two paper rounds, the rest was saved until I could afford my first bass.

In the sixties the MM was the go-to music paper. NME just wasn’t in it. In the seventies I used to read Motoring News.

And the 70's.

 

I used to go up to Denmark Street on a Wednesday afternoon, to buy the early edition and get to the good adverts before the rest of the country.
